Tracking/SAR
Can someone tell me the difference between tracking and SAR? How does the training differ? They seem to have alot of similarities, but I'm sure there are fine points in the training that make them quite different. And how does one evaluate a potential SAR or tracking dog candidate? TIA!

advice on starting bones
So Circa is about 6 years old and her teeth are starting to get a little plaque-y. I've never tried giving her raw bones to chew on but after lurking around here for ages, I thought it might help. Any advice on the type of bone I should start her out on? I don't want to supplement her food since...

Help, Large Do Breed Formula Food Question.
My dog Lucy weighs about 18 pounds, and I bought the wrong puppy chow. I bought the Large dog breed formula, for dogs that are over 50 pounds and I am wondering if that is bad for Lucy to eat. Please answer ASAP! Thanks in advance!

Opinions on 'Taste of the Wild' brand kibble?
Does anyone here use this brand or have any opinions on it? It was recmmended by the pet store we normally go to but we'd like to get second opinions on it before we switch to it. You can read about it here, if you have never used it: http://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/products/dig_deeper/

Missing Link
I am thinking of giving my dog Missing Link to boost her immune system. ( I don't really know if that is what is it used for.) I give her Prozyme. Can I give her both or will they interact with each other?

High protein food for small breed puppy?
I had my puppy (pictures later) in Petsmart today, and we saw the Blue rep, who asked what he was eating. I said, Blue, so he immediately assumed I was feeding the puppy food, but I told him no, I'm feeding the Wilderness. The Blue rep, and the Nutro rep thought I should switch to the puppy formula...

Z's a contender! (agility trial results!)
In our single day of running at the local USDAA trial today, Z was AMAZING. Out of 4 runs, these are her results: 1st and Q in Starters Jumpers 1st and Q in Starters Snooker 2nd and Q in Starters Standard 4th and Q in the GRAND PRIX QUALIFIER (Masters level course, which is 2 levels above Starters...

Raw question
I'm thinking about adding a raw meal about once a week just as a trial. My girls are fed twice a day so once a week they'd be getting kibble in the morning then raw at night. Or should I just feed them one meal that day? Also is a chicken(or turkey) leg/thigh, whatever enough for one meal for...

Talk to me about Homecooking
Honestly. I've done raw for so long that my dogs diets are almost an unconsious effort for me. I know lots of people have been doing raw for way longer than me obviously, but for me raw is pretty much a no brainer. But my dogs get no grains, no potatoes, and no bargains...I live in Canada, there...

Before Grain?
Apologies if anyone has posted this food before for scrutiny... Before Grain I grabbed a tiny bag just for treats for recall from the kennel, but looking at it, it doesn't seem half bad. What do you think? I keep saying I'm going to start supplementing with a bit of kibble now and then, just...

Weruva?
anyone heard of this? I was canned food shopping for my cat - and my store had a bunch of this on sale for 50% off - all canned, grain free. I picked up a small can for the cat - to see if she likes it.... since she hasn't liked anything else, I'm willing to try anything for her! At $.50...

Sandy's first trial
Not officially! Lol. She's not old enough. But on at the Spring Fling last week, my trainer asked if I wanted to run Sandy on a 6 inch course. I figured why the heck not. What's the worst that could happen? She did great!! There wasn't a teeter so no worries there. And she only bailed on...

Kaiser's second TDAA trial (video!)
Kaiser's second TDAA trial was this weekend and it went so well! Mostly I was just happy to see that his confidence was way up from the last trial and he was having a lot more fun. A little too much fun on Sunday, as he had a few off-courses when he decided to add in extra obstacles. He still...

Thinking sojos might not be that great of an idea
I have been feeding sojos on and off for several years in my rotations, but recently I put them on the original mix in the senior amounts. Right away both my bichon girls started getting crystals in their urine! I've since put them back on the adult proportions. How is it possible that the calcium...

Think I found a happy medium (kibble plus topper)
I took the dogs off sojos premix since I'm having some issues with crystals in the girls' urine (Lexi and Darby mom/daughter bichons) as well as tear staining/face staining since their formula change. Gobie the 13 yr old minpin has gotten very dull coat and it's tan, where it used to be dark...
