Pork neck question

Do you feed the (what appears to be) cut pieces from the grocery store or do you buy them elsewhere. The meat market, which sells frozen meats, didn't seem to have pork necks the last time I was there. So the only places available are the various grocers.

It's just for recreational chewing, not entire meals.

Yes, I do. I buy them bulk... which I could not do if Logan didn't eat 1+lbs in a meal (cause the bulk boxes usually contain larger pieces) and I have no idea, short a chain saw, how to slice them into smaller chunks myself ... so to feed Nik or Aryn pork neck I buy them at the grocery.

I also consider them meals :)

Bugsy gets at least one pork neck meal a week - I have only bought the ones from the grocery store although I would love to get larger pieces - wonder where I can buy them in bulk Hmm

I haven't tried them yet but Hopkin's Poultry in Brown's Summit does sell pork cuts by the case through their retail store (chicken too - I've bought from them and need to get back into it). It's a bit of a drive but it would be worth it.

I think there's also a pork processing place in Smithfield but I don't remember what it it. For me Hopkin's is much closer, about an hour and Patrick goes right by there when he goes into the office once a week.

Actually the place you are likely thinking of is the Nahunta Pork Outlet. When I couldn't find decent bones for him I called them and to buy bones I needed permission from the Dept of Agriculture LOL

I may check into their price but I just stocked up when Compare had pork neck for .79/lb Big Smile

Oh bother. I have no way to get down there - my truck's in the shop and Patrick's car will be in use the next couple of days. I wonder whether they'll still be on sale Saturday? We are going through there at that time.

Becca the .79 was last week's flyer not sure about this week Sad Super Walmart has packs at .99 which is what I usually get
