Favorite new kibble!
I needed to find a different food for Jetta b/c she was getting chubby and slightly itchy again since its summer time. Jetta is limited on what foods she can eat b/c of her allergies to barley, flax, and brewers yeast (which are in a LOT of foods, even the allergy-formulas like natural balance). She...

Is food the cause of his soft poops?
I've had my dogs on TOTW on and off now for a while and they do great on it. We were on Natural Balance (just one bag) and no one seemed to care for it, so we went back to TOTW this time. When I brought Finn home late-May we were on NB and he had very soft poops, so I thought when we switched over...

I can't get him to eat...
Kaiser is having a very bad day. I know he doesn't feel good, but i can't get him to eat. I went out and bought $20 worth of canned food, he wont touch it. He wouldn't even eat his pills with his peanut butter. I did get him to eat a few pieces of ham, but he will only eat them when i feed...

Pictoral Explanation of Diet Choices
I've talked a lot about my disatisfaction with "random food events" and that how my diet choices affected my working dogs, was what drove my move to spreadsheets, becoming educated about nutrient balances, and using a nutrition expert, etc. I was organizing my hard drive for archiving onto...

Fish oil supplements?
Is it okay to give your own fish oil supplement to your dog? Or is there too much fatty acids in one capsule for a dog? I ask because those fish oil supplements for dogs all seem very expensive. It would save a lot of money if I just gave one of my own and wrapped it in his food. If not, please recommend...

Emma is allergic to.... (jennie_c_d)
PEOPLE! No more big meals of human flesh. Seriously. People, and fleas are at the top of her list. So, I'm treating this like I'm allergic to the dog, washing the bedding, vaccuuming more often, feeding myself healthy, fatty foods, LOL. She also has food allergies, of course. If the test is right...

Tracking problem
I've got a tracking issue, maybe someone here has some ideas. Nikon's started his formal SchH tracking training. For three weeks now, we've done 1-2 scent pads a day, 5-6 days a week (accounting for sickness, being busy, or lousy weather). I think he "gets" the scent pad. He has...

Switching...
I have been feeding Tootsie Orijen for about 6 months, everything is great, but... I've noticed that she is getting bulky. She gets her daily exercise, but its not enough. I only feed her 1/3 of a cup in the am and pm, so I can't go any lower. I'm going to try Fromms Whitefish and Potato...

Suddenly needing more food?
I'm curious... About a year ago when Kivi first came Penny put on a lot of weight. She was getting a little extra from pinching Kivi's food when no one was looking, so thinking that was the issue I made sure they were split up when eating and watched them. Plus I reduced Penny's meal sizes...

Ok...I've had it...why do my dogs stink??? = UPDATE
Honestly..I don't get it. Dogs are mostly on homecooked meals with Orijen dry dog food back into the big guys diet a few times a week. Dogs are constantly brushed, bedding gets washed all the time, and yet, they still have this funky stink. Not only that, their stools wreak horribly...always...

Puppy food
A while back we swittched to Taste of the Wild and started using all three flavors. The dogs seem to really like it. In preparation for a puppy, I looked for puppy food and they don't have any of that brand. I didn't see any of the Blue brand either. I am wondering what to feed a large breed...

Feeding cat food to dogs?
Ok I've always heard your not supposed to feed cat food to dogs. Is that true? If so is there something in cat food that will harm a dog?

I was excited... for all of 5 seconds...
My Costco *finally* has the Kirklands biscuits and canned food back -- yay! However, it's 1/2 chicken and 1/2 lamb, and we're 95% sure Sammy has issues with lamb. Bummer. They haven't had either since the pet food recalls, and I've been putting in request after request, so someone finally...

I think I have a death wish.. Lol
I introduced Maze to barrel racing on Wednesday night. Well she's a natural at that once I got my foot work down. So last night I brought Sandy to the agility drill team practice to keep me company on the bus and my trainer decided to give her a go. Yep.. She loved it! So now once I get my own...

outgrow food allergies?
Is it possible for a dog to not have food allergies after a long period of time of not being exposed to those allergens? Jetta has been on a diet free of barley, flaxseed, and brewers yeast for almost 2 yrs. I REALLY want to feed her a food like BB, Wellness, Solid gold, or Innova but I'm afraid she'll...

I just wanted to share how proud I am of Honor. This weekend, Honor had four APDT rally trials in Level 1B. She's currently going for her Level 1 Championship title while we prepare for Level 2. You need 10 qualifying legs in order to receive your RL1X, and Honor had 4/4 Qs this weekend! I'm...
