Ok I've always heard your not supposed to feed cat food to dogs. Is that true? If so is there something in cat food that will harm a dog?

I order my food online and sometimes I run short a feeding - when that happens I give my dogs a cup of cat food for one feeding they never got sick. I won't do it two feeding in a row because I don't want diarrhea but once in a while in an emergency they are find. Dry not canned is what i give them.

Not that I know of.............
I do know that cats need Taurine. Dog food doesn't generally contain that.......so if a cat ate dog food loooooong term it could lead to heart problems.

Occassionally it should be fne, but daily no. Cat food is formulated for cats, not dogs.

dogs and cats have different nutritional needs - hence the different foods.
I often use some cat kibble for training... dogs love it. it wont hurt them - but it's not meant to be fed long term.
