Hi, I have always brushed my dogs teeth, Over the years I have used Logic Gel, Petosan, and Dorwest Roast Dinner paste. Logic I find hard to brush with as it doesn't seem to "Foam" just make more of a paste to brush with, tho I do use this without brushing as you can. I was wondering is...

Torn carpal pad
Hey, About a week and a half ago I was skiing with my dog, Bailey, and she lacerated her carpal pad (the pad up higher on the front limb) on some crusty snow. It was cur right where the pad attaches to her leg and I bandaged it up but it was still bleeding after 2 days so I brought her to the vet...

Help for a friend/former forum member re: Megaesophagus
Not sure how many remember Kim who works with a Westie rescue group and gives her all but one of her own dogs was just diagnosed today with Megaesophagus. He's being moved to the animal hospital and they'll find out more when they get there. I told her that I knew some folks here had dealt with...

what a rough week for Bailey!!!! 2 surgeries in one! (BTmomma)
This has been a rollercoaster of a week for Bailey girl! Last Saturday, Bailey woke up from a long nap and she was shaking a trembling uncontrollably. I sat with her and held her for a few minutes, thinking she had had a seizure of some sort... I tried to let her outside about an hour later and she wouldn't...

Kota man and possible neurofibroma?
Has anyone had any experience with a neurofibroma being removed from their dog? I don't know that Kota has one, but the nuero vet thinks that is what we are looking for. The mylegram xray didn't show anything wrong in his spine but his spinal fluid proteins are at 65 and 25 is normal, so there...

High liver values - meaning??
My friend's doxie has high liver values - the ALT and another one The vet is ready to run off about $500 in tests. I'm wondering what this might indicate Sadie (doxie) is not showing any signs of a health issue at this time

A "leaking" dog?
Ok, this may be an odd question and I do plan on talking to the vet at the shelter about this but I wanted to see your thoughts on this as well. Chief was laying in bed with me the other night. He was there for maybe 3 hours before DH came to bed. When Dh went to move Chief from the bed, there was...

Weepy eyes, but haven't always been that way
I noticed especially on the post about his birthday, that Kota has not always had weepy eyes. He never had goop or anything coming from his eyes when he was younger and this has crept up on me and I never think to ask the vet about it. Do dogs' eyes get more goopy over the years? I have to clean...

My Musings on Arthritis Pain Management Pharmacology in Dogs
In looking around at the pain management options out there, it seems as though there is a fair amount of misinformation. Are there any pharmacologists in the Golden Retriever Forum? I'm familiar with human pharmacology, but appreciate there are some differences. Arthritis pain management options...

Teeth Care on a little dog
Overall, Sandy's got nice teeth. She eats a raw diet and I used to brush her teeth. The past week people have been commenting on her breath. It smells like something died in her mouth. She's got a black tartar line above her canines, right at gum level. It's been there since she turned a...

Ziva is leaky :(
Ziva has had periodic accidents while deeply asleep for probably the last 18 months. Accidents occur maybe every 4-6 months or so, are dilute urine, always while sleeping, fair amount. We had our vet give her a look (urinalysis, physical exam) after 3 accidents in about a month. Initially it looked like...

Dogs Shoes For Safety
Dog shoes are great protective gears for your dogs since their paws are very sensitive and are prone to getting hurt easily. If you let your dogs go out without dog shoes then there are chances that their paws might crack or even start bleeding, which is very painful for the dog and it can render him...

Crushing glucosamine and chondroiton pills?
Hi Everyone- Just curious if anyone who gives their dogs G&C have crushed the pills? It's a struggle to get her to take 3 huge pills a day, and the powdered and liquid stuff is twice the price, so I was thinking I could just crush the pills and put it over her food. I did a bit of research online...
