Nature's Variety raw organic chicken...anyone using it??
Picked up a small bag of the medallions to try out...figure it has a lessor amount of ingredients versus their regular chicken formula; that's the main reason I"m trying it...not because of the organic part. I prefer the Primal Defense brand, but they didn't do good on their formula,...

Smoothies
I love smoothies, Strawberry-Kiwi is probably my favorite.....but how do you make fresh, healthy smoothies without those seeds?! I just made one, and it's like a seed-fest. LOL! Thanks

why not homecook?
I notice in a lot of threads, people mention they add all sorts of extras to their dogs food - whether their crockpotting, or adding extra meat, or whatever it is. If one is doing this, then it appears they doubt the healthfulness of a kibble-only diet. So if you are already going through the trouble...

Budget Cooking anyone??
So how about it guys want to swap some budget ideas??? It is going to be tight around my place for a while and I can always use good ideas to stretch a buck. It does not help that the family is spoiled rotten. SIL will not eat any beans but pinto. DH is a pain in the tuccus to feed, he can not eat...

Best cal/protein ratio per piece of chicken??
Which chicken pieces are the best for correct calcium per meat base? Also, is a turkey neck the greatest peice to start with? My local options for chicken are going to be leg quarters or wings; can't find any co-op's that serve Colorado without paying membership fees to investigate further...

No co-op's avail in Colorado...figures.
There's on site that states there is a distribution point in Boulder and Colorado Springs, but if you go to their link, it no longer works. Figures. Otherwise it looks like I have to pay member fees here and there on group blogs just to find nearby co-op's that will probably charge shipping...

Pet food comparison wizard
I read your whole thread on homecooking, it was long! I commend those of you who do it successfully, I'm just not dedicated enough and it's too much of a time committment. We've fed California Natural for many years, switching to Canidae sometimes when our wallets are hurting. Anyway, I didn't...

Freshpet dog treats
Freshpet is new to my area. OMG these are nice treats!!! $3.75 for an 8 oz bag of treats that contain chicken, oats, chicken broth, salt, and natural flavors. They're a great texture, too. They have to be refrigerated, but..... super nice! Ena definitely approves. Toby, the picky old man approves...

Tired of cooking...which meat has least amount
of bacteria content in the raw form? Gonna keep using HK Preference as the base/pre-mix for now...but which, out of my 2 options has the least likely amount of bacteria and perhaps easier digestable capability out of the 2 - ground beef or ground turkey? Cooked chicken is working ok, but feeding...

Switching to TOTW
Sandy is having a reaction to her food. She gets Nat. Cal. Chicken and brown rice. So I've decided to put her on the fish based TOTW. But as I thought about it, Maze has the same allergy and she gets Herring and Sweet Potatoe. So instead of buying two different dog foods, I'm switching both of...

Herding Instinct Test - Questions
I'm wondering about seeing if Misha wants to herd, I know he likes sheep and goats, I just don't know if he wants to guard them or chase them around (or eat them). Most of the places I've found say that they only test herding breeds, which Misha is not, predominately. Would it hurt to ask...

Steak with Peppercorn Sauce???!!!
Help. I need a recipe for this TONIGHT (ie. by about 5.30pm,in 4hours!!) or I may be facing divorce! The recipes I have looked up require the sauce to be made AFTER the steaks have been cooked, using the juices of the meat. DH would like me to make the sauce in advance to make dinner quicker to make...

For the crock pot/slowcooker fans
I was reading a food blog this morning and came across a link to another food blog, by a woman who vowed to use her crock pot for something every day of the year. Some great looking, easy recipes here.

By Nature
If there is already a thread about this - I'm sorry. Has anyone tried it? Again, one of those foods that looks good to me, but I'm still learning how to tell the good v. bad. I'd have to babysit twice a month to be able to afford it, but still, I'd like to try it out if it'd...

Llama as a food source??
I have recently acquired six llamas. I have no desire to keep them, & I am currently paying someone to board them. I am trying to decide if it would be in my best interest to try to find a buyer for them, or if they would be suitable for consumption by my dogs. Does anyone know if it is ok for...

I bought a bag of there cat food for my kitties(again, cheeper then Iams!) and went to check out there dog food. Looks good! Lamb meal, chicken meal, or beef meal is the...
