Rainbow Bridge
The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

Run Free Kira (Quinn)!!
As some of you may already know, yesterday we received the news that the 4 month old puppy we were rescuing passed away in the shelter. They aren't sure whether it was a virus or a reaction to vaccines. We hadn't met her yet, but still felt like she was ours already. The worst thing id knowing...

Preparing Toddlers for Death of Dog
My beloved dog of almost 15 years (who was estimated to be 2 1/2 when we got her, is winding down . She is having increasing difficulty controlling her hindquarters, as well as being stiff, etc. The vet has her on painkillers but is estimating weeks, not months, until her quality of life is gone. I...

Run free Mickey
I had to put down my 14yr/o beloved pet yesterday afternoon. I knew it will be painful but never knew it was THAT painful. Eventhough I have mixed feelings right now-upset, angry, sad, regret- I believe Mickey is in a better place and he can do what he wants to do. Mickey was a good dog, had happy...

Rio
Rio was 16 1/2. He was Emma's friend, and he was my friend. He didn't care much for Ena, LOL. She just pounced on his head, so she wasn't allowed to "play" with him. He was frail, and she would have knocked him over. Rio was an extreme, true hairless Chinese Crested. His favorite...

For Kids - Why Does Our Pet Have to Die Now
Sorry I'm all about the blah-blah right now but that's how I deal with stuff. I'd like to share what we told our kids about euthanizing Ben. I thought it might help. If you aren't religious at all, it might not still. PJ is nine, Joey is seven. "PJ and Joey, you know Ben's sick...

REMEMBERING HUNTER AND BANDIT
five years ago tonight at 8:40 my hunter died of autoimmune hemolytic anemia and liver damage brought on by the heartworm preventin injection, proheart6. That very same day a beautiful border collie named bandit died of uncontrollable seizures in wisconsin. Hunter was 4, never sick a day in his life...

Brook Cove Ben with Pics
As usual, Ben worked it out for the best. There was no question of the right thing to do. My horror with him has always been a long battle, more suffering on his part, Ben slipping away little by little until I was left alone to make the final decision. However, the bleeding had reached a crisis level...

Run Free Buster!
Wow, honestly I never thought I'd be posting in here for awhile. Run Free Buster, Run Free. Buster was my foster dog, he was 6-8 months old who I got on Monday. I don't want to go in depth the whole week saga, but this morning around 7:30 am he died in my arms as I was trying to take him to an...

Freeway dog
I just wanted to acknowledge a dead dog we saw laying on the side of the freeway on our way to Vegas. I've seen dead dogs on the road before, but this one hit me for some reason and I cried for awhile after seeing it. It looked like a pittie or pittie mix. He/she was obviously struck. I just hope...

Nikki passed away (Laurelin)
Nikki passed away today. The middle of last night she started breathing hard and couldn't get comfortable. We took her to the vet this morning as soon as we could but she died in the car on the way there. I guess she was sparing us from having to make that horrible decision. Goodbye My Sweet Baby Girl
My baby girl, Amber, lost her battle with PLN (protein losing nephropathy) yesterday. I unfortunately had to make the decision to end her suffering. ------ Mark and I took Amber to the vet Thursday morning (September 4, 2008). I carried her from the car and walked in the door and started crying. They...

Live like she was dying
Forgive just one more post about the loss of our girl but it is indeed important, as you know with deep sorrow , we gentled our Princess cross the bridge yesterday morning. Jasmine's fate was written in the medical reports that we had worked with so carefully , in hopes of buying her extra time and...

Hug your pets closely tonight
A friend of mine had her 18 month old dog pass away from a heart attack today, with no warning. She rescued him from a not-great situation and loved him dearly...he and Ben enjoyed some nice walks together. Run free, little man.

Hiro is gone
We made the tough decision to let him go this morning. It's been so rough these last two weeks for all of us. It just seems so unfair that we've had this happen three times with puppies and so unfair we never get answers. Godspeed, Hiro.
