Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

     A friend of mine had her 18 month old dog pass away from a heart attack today, with no warning.  She rescued him from a not-great situation and loved him dearly...he and Ben enjoyed some nice walks together. 

    Run free, little man.

    Aww -- sometimes you just plain have no warning.  It's so hard with pups -- it's like they never get a 'chance'.  But with her this dog HAD love ... HAD good food ... HAD good days.

    And sadly some dogs never get that. 

    Sometimes it's a congenital problem that just never shows up.  My sympathies -- as another who has lost a pup unexpectedly (Pollyanna -- she only lived 3 months with us -- the injuries from her abuser were just too great) I understand and will lift them up. 

    But for sure, he slid OVER Rainbow Bridge, came skidding to a stop at the bottom and said to everbuddy there "WOW -- this place is cool, but I FINALLY hadda home with just THE nicest humans!!"

    I'm sorry Kate.  It's such a shock when a young dog passes away like that.

    But, at least your friends didn't have to suffer the anticipatory sadness that comes while watching a dog slowly decline.

    So sorry to hear of your friends loss!  I hope she gets strength in the knowledge that she gave the little one a very happy send off to the bridge.
