Rainbow Bridge
The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

Legend: 3/25/96- 1/2/09
We helped Legend to pass on today. His health issues (arthritis, mainly, but also incontinence) had advanced, as had his cognitive issues. He was still very happy to see us, and enjoyed mealtimes, but in many ways, much of his former self was gone a lot of the time. He was no longer able to sit..could...

My Michelle - gone but not forgotten
I can't believe its been 2 years since my Michelle was called away to the Rainbow Bridge. Time went so quickly yet so slowly. It still hurts like it was yesterday yet seems that it was an eternity ago. An 8x10 photo of her is still on the fridge (where I placed it in November of 2006) and I still...

RIP pretty girl
As Ann posted, Dakota made her final trip to the vet yesterday. I don't even know what to say really. I does not feel real yet. She has been with me since my sophmore year in college. I will never forget picking her out of the litter. Her breeder sled raced Sibes and had an entire back yard kennel...

To Gracie and All Other Heart Dogs We Have Lost
Gracie the Ancient Ridgeback, my heart dog, left for the Rainbow Bridge December 19, 2008. Today, I found the following quote, and it helped the grief. Hope it helps you too. "It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into...

Duchess - JRT ?-12/26/08
On Christmas night my aunt's JRT, Duchess, was attacked by one of the other dog's she lives with. They called the vet and were told to go to Columbia, over an hour away. She just had superficial scratches on her neck and was having trouble breathing. My aunt was told they needed to keep her for...

Do you really believe in The Rainbow Bridge?
This is the question I've been asking myself for the last 5 days since my Mickey passed away. I've search the internet through no end, asked friends and family about it...and most just answered me "it's just a theory". As disappointed as I could be, I however didn't give up...

Bear
It's been over a year, but Bear died. He had cancer and it got to his liver. He never wanted us to see in pain, so he hid it really well.We didn't even know he was sick until the very end.He was the best dog I've EVER had. RIP Bear. I love you.

RIP~Brazil
Brazil passed away today I know her owners are going to be disapointed that they did not get to meet her like they would have. She gave her last breath while I was in the room and it was ackward watching her die. I know she will be better and that she will now be free and not stuck in a cage. Fly free...

Run Free Mikey
Mikey, became Dean and Rexine's boy at the age of 7 months and that was 14 years ago. Mikey has been going down hill and was recently diagnosed with cancer. As hard as they tried and as much as they did for him, Mikey was just in too much pain. Today Dean and Rexine helped Mikey to the Bridge. It...

R.I.P. Tango
Today I had to make the decison to have Tango put to sleep. He had arthritis and it got to the point where he couldn't walk or move anymore. He was 11 1/2 years old and was the best dog i've had in a long time. Here's some pics. My favorite pic of him. [IMG]http://i60.photobucket.com...

Dear Toby
I saw Toby nearly 6 years ago when his picture was posted on the DRU website. He didn't have a description at the time, but boy was he a handsome dog! The kind of face you'd want to smooch and squish and love all over. Later his "biography" description was posted - a former street brawler...

Bye Bye Abbie girl
Everyone at work knows that I am a nut about dogs. I chat with everyone about their dogs, including an older guy who left here to work elsewhere a few months ago. Today he came to visit me and to let me know that he had to let his sweet Abbie go yesterday. She was an 11 year old collie and has had quite...
