Fish-tank frenzie!
We have a Jack Russell of 5 years old. I have recently moved in with my girlfriend, and I brought with me two large fish tanks. 'Buddy' the JR now has an unhealthy obsession with one of the tanks and stares and growls at it non-stop all day, sometimes building to an uncontrollable frenzie from...

Pitbull Bully...lol. 0_o!!
Ok, so I recently adopted what we believe to be either a full Amstaff or Pit, or a mix of either of them. Not sure. Anyway, Dexter is a sweet boy, and gets along well with my two other dogs, and is getting better with the cat. However, we got him at around 5 mo. as a foster, but didn't actually aopt...

what do you do - unleashed dogs
Thank you for the feedback you all gave on my liability question. To take my inquiry a little further ... what do you do when you (alone or with dogs) are approached by an unleashed dog. This is such a huge problem for me, I encounter at least one or two unleashed dogs a week when I am out walking. I...

Oh no :( Trinket attacked T-Bone
Trinket went after T-Bone in a bad way. She was resting on a dog bed and he came over, and she went OFF. She grabbed his face, I grabbed her, he tried to run but she wouldn't turn him loose. I yelled at the top of my voice "STOP" and when she opened her mouth to bark I yanked her backward...

Gizmo's Behavior - help, suggestions, why?
I feel so bad but I don’t know what I can do now. Well, first off, since I’ve been making this transition into the working world Gizmo has been living with my parents till I can get things figures out. It’s taking much longer then I thought it would and there is no way I could keep Gizmo in my tiny apartment...

Why Dogs Pull on the Leash
T wo of the most popular explanations for why dogs pull are, 1) the dog thinks he’s the pack leader, and 2) the behavior is being reinforced. However, I don’t think dogs pull on the leash as much as they’re pulled on by things in the environment that stimulate and attract their instincts...

Doggie Backpacks!!
I would really like to get Zoey a doggie backpack, akyra's is WAY too big for her, I just measured her girth & it's 23", she's tiny. I really wanted another pack like akyra's, since it's pretty well made. Its a granite gear one. But ack!! $50 for one! ( I bought Akrya's...

Saratoga Horseworks K9 Cooling Coat
The Saratoga Horseworks K9 Cooling Coat as pictured here on my dog Luke I followed the guidelines on the website for sizing my dog, and ordered accordingly. Note here that the length of the coat is too long, and extends past the base of his tail. The velcro strap in this image is pulled up so that it...

Why do dogs stare?
Hey guys, this is such a shocker I bet. Another question from me. :P Anyway, I've found that Simba likes to stare at me a lot. At least when he's in his crate. He seems content and he's done this since we've gotten him. Does anyone else have a dog that does this? Maybe it sounds silly...

Okay, so Trinket has an issue..
That issue is strange dogs coming up to her,. She doesn't lunge at them or try to go after them, but if a dog runs up to her, she will snapand growl.. She snapped my neighbors APBT female twice, and the second time was ready for a fight (but so was the other dog) My neighbor HIT MY DOG. This really...

Seperation anxiety
Hi Onikah (mom) and Dot(pup) here. Dot is a seven year dachshund retired breeder (i dont really want to get into her previous care because it makes me mad). This post may be long but i want you to be able to fully understand what I am dealing with so I can get the best support and advice. When I got...

Sporn Mesh Halter
Best. Halter. Ever. Ari's a puller (entirely the human's fault!) and this helps me out tremendously. It does give her the ability to self correct, but that's not the best part. The best part is it actually seems to make her aware of the halter and me so that I have an easier time rewarding...

Political Animals: Why Some Stray Dogs Have Joined the Greek Riots
This is an interesting phenomenon: some of Athens' stray dogs have been showing up at the demonstrations and riots, seemingly taking sides with the protesters. Why do they do this? Political Animals: Why Some Stray Dogs Have Joined the Greek Riots LCK

For working moms -- mealtime question?
When I lost my job about a year and a half ago, I knew it was the perfect time to buy a puppy. Since the economy didn't look too promising in my field I figured it may be awhile before I found employment, which would allow me to devote (my every waking hour) time for the pup and her training. Well...

Sequoyah's "Conscience"
So, she has been putting her toys away on her own for a long time...but what I find fascinating is that when she isn't successful, she goes back to try again, pretty much on her own. I admit to using encouragement, but the initial desire to go back for the frisbee when it drops outside the basket...

Dog park questions
I have two lovely dogs. One is an 11 year old female pyranese/lab that I got from an animal shelter when she was 3 (?). The other is a 50 lb. male mystery mix who we found running down the middle of a busy road when he was 5 (?). They are both friendly and kind to people, quite obedient, a pleasure to...

Thunderphobia?
Am I remembering correctly that in some dogs thunderphobia worsens with age? Maggie is 11yo and has always been nervous during storms. She used to pant, pace, and try to hide, but as long as she had a small dark place to go she'd be ok. Unfortunately the last 3 or 4 storms have showed a disconcerting...
