I need....

Lillie is HOME!!!!! She is matted to death though with burs and sticky stuff.

The door to the dog room to the house stays closed. The dog room is really a sunroom that I just let the dogs have a room of their own. So he wouldnt know if the dogs were in there or not unless he had opened the door and looked. I took Joker and Kujo so he thought I had taken Lillie and Fynn also. I usually do take Lillie when going to the lake.

I did not leave a note telling him to let the dogs out because I was gonna be home in time to do that today. He wont let the dogs out unless I give instructions because he dont wanna mess up if I have changed some rules.

So please quit trying to blame JJ. Not his fault.

I had double checked the door when I left and it was shut and locked. It is possible with all 3 dogs in there they could have gotten it open.  Lillie will now be crated when I leave the house and I will be adding another lock to the door. Possibly 2 more. I will not have this happen again.

Thank you guys so much for your thoughts and get home vibes!

HOORAY!  So, so glad she's home and ok.  :)  Silly dogs, what do they mean scaring us half to death with these capers. You must be breathing a huge sigh of relief.

I just read this entire thread with my heart in my throat.  I'm so glad that both Lillie, & Hollie (??? I'll have to figure out who she is) are home safely.

Jeezum Crimeny, scared me half to death. Glad they are all home.

Don't let anyone beat you up about JJ...my BF doesn't do anything for Pirate either, unless I ask (and leave a few notes!)

I would get the kind of dead bolt that you need a key to open it from BOTH sides, and hang on to the key yourself.

Ditto.  I'm leaving on a business trip tomorrow, & I have typed out detailed instructions for DH because I do most of the dog duties.

Glad they're home -- I just couldn't figger out what your set-up was.  David and I are so joined at the hip it never occured to me you'd be in one direction and he in another.

Given that you took a couple of the dogs you probably were dealing with dogs who were miffed and wanted to "go with" and decided to go AWOL if they could.

I know some folks are anti-crating but the last time I worried my way thru an obstruction with Muffin the Intrepid I knew my heart just couldn't take it anymore and since then they're crated when we're gone.  They don't sleep in crates and their crates are all next to each other (with Hootie the cockatiel's crate on TOP of Luna's -- which makes for a nice little happy family believe it or not).

The only one at this point who isn't crated is Kee and that's because she's not super continent and I'd rather clean it up IF she has an accident than have her lying in it while I'm gone. The kitchen's mostly her domain so she's happy -- she's not as communal as the others - sometimes she wants to be with, sometimes not.  But I also know she's not going to pull the TV off horsing around either.  (at this point her snores are a bit deafening LOL)

But you just gotta do what you gotta do and do what works.  I"m so glad they're HOME (dirty or not) -- but I'm surprised they didn't stay together.

You only have to tape them in one place?  I leave them on the fridge, & taped to both remote controls.  This time, the kids are staying with him, so I know that they will remind him to do everything!

So glad to hear they're both back!

Im not against crating. Lillie just hasnt had to use one since moving into this house so I let her loose in the dog room. Cheyanne's never needed a crate and Holly is potty trained and doesnt chew on anything so I let her loose in there yesterday as well. I guess 3 dogs loose was too much. So Lillie and Holly will be crated from now on when I am not home.

As for them staying together Holly's only been back here 4 days so I dont know if they would have bonded yet?

So glad to hear everyone's home safe and sound.  The extra locks on the door sound like a great plan, as well as the added crating.  15 hours is a long time to be left alone and I wonder if perhaps the girls decided to let themselves out for a potty break and some fun.  Maybe that's how Holly ended up at your place?!

Perhaps you might want to sit down with JJ and work out a good system for making sure the dogs are taken care of if you can't be home for whatever reason.  Sounds like that could've been part of the issue - no one really knew who was where and thus the escape wasn't noticed until later than it would've been otherwise.

I too have to write notes for DH if he's taking care of the dogs, but we have a centralized location for such notes (the fridge door or on his computer monitor) where he knows to check, especially if I'm out of town or going to be home waaaay late.
