mindless chatter - weekend

We're going out for supper at a new restaurant.  Our neighbor is coming by to stay with the kids.  Oddly enough, i'm not even excited.  Wish I had more time before we had to go.  I feel completely run down and would much rather take a long long nap.  Like, maybe till tuesday.

I had the pleasure of playing at a wedding luncheon reception today and now I'm camped on the couch while DH takes the boys to the park.  I checked my emails and got wonderful news!  Friends of our from my "Waiting Moms" group got their match yesterday.  Their baby girl was born November 4th and they will travel within a week to go meet her.  Very exciting and motivating for DH and I too.

    Sigh.  Dreams can come true.

    Happy V day everyone!

Happy Valentine's to all. DW wanted either "Mama Mia" or "Nights in Rodanthe" on dvd. She's been talking more about the latter, so I got her that and huge-o-mongous card. She should be leaving work in a few moments. Dinner is already done. I got some little purple potatos and baby carrots and a whole chicken and roasted it in a bag in the oven at 350 F for 1.5 hrs. The timer just went off, so it's ready.

Now, I'm back. Had to turn off the oven but I will leave it in there to stay warm. And, she has tomorrow off, so we might get to watch the movie and then she wants to buy me a cd for Valentine's Day. I get to pick.

    happy valentine's day everyone!!

for me it's sunday morning. it's 9 am, i just finished the rest of my work and have the rest of the day ahead of me, with not much to do. feels GREAT!!

yesterday was nice. the BF called and asked what i wanted to do. i said, let's go out to eat. we wanted to do lunch, but both of us had some work to finish up, and since i always hear horror stories about v-day dinners out, we said late lunch, which then ended up being early dinner (~5pm). he asked if i wanted romantic or yummy. i had to laugh, cause he KNOWS! so yes, we went yummy! so we went to one of our favorite restaurants and ended up very surprised by their valentine's day deco. they had candles and rose peddles (SP??) everywhere! i even got a card and a rose from them! that was a nice surprise for both of us, but of course the rose wasnt as nice as the one, the BF gave me. he said he wanted a bouquet, but was annoyed at the rip-off prices. made me laugh. he knows i dont need flowers.... lol

he also bought me chocolate, although i have a feeling, he kinda bought that for himself... i'm not a big chocolate eater. Stick out tongue

later we just ended up watching TV, me falling asleep on the couch at around 7pm (having woken up so early, lol).

anyhow, i'm off to take the dogs out. then maybe i'll take my camera out to take some nice pictures. it seems sunny...

Oh, we had such a nice dinner.  DS didn't stay out here to eat with us, but took his in the house, so was just the two of us.  Well, the two of us and six drooling dogs!

I picked up a shrimp ring, some nice russet potatos to bake, made a salad and did steaks with sauteed mushrooms and onions.  And topped it off with a very nice red wine.  I'm usually NOT a red wine person, but this is from my fav winery and its a very nice red.  Have been looking for a red I can stomach since its supposed t be good for us.  The bonus is I really LIKE this one.  We have a little chocolate heart cake for later....once all the food settles.

Think I'll pick up a flowering plant on my way to see Mom tomorrow.  She's been depressed lately.  Wednesday, a basketball size rock got thrown at her car by another vehicle and she ruined a rim, had a bulging tire, and some body damage on the drivers side. Then the next day she found out the pain in her eye is from an infection, the next her card game got cancelled since the gal hosting it was sick, and without a car, she was going to ride with THAT gal to church tomorrow, so now can't go to Church.  Guess I'll offer to take her.  This has been a tough winter for her.  It was so gloomy, so cold and soooo darned snowy that she didn't even keep her car for most of the winter, and I think that kind of weather is likely worse for older folks than it is for most of us.  Will try to give her something to smile about tomorrow.  Hpefully that will help.

Sarah, that is GREAT news for your friends!  Your time is coming!

    Ron, go with Mama Mia!

DH loved the painting that I got him.  He was so excited that I remembered that he liked that painting.  He gave me a portable gps, which I love.  It has all kinds of cool gizmos, & I think that I'm going to have a blast learning about it.  He also did very detailed, pointillism style, drawings of all of the dogs for me.  I'm afraid to ask how long it took him to complete each pic.  We cooked dinner together this evening.  We were going to go to the "Corset Ball" tonight, but I'm still sick, so we are staying home instead.

I'm supposed to run a marathon tomorrow.  I know that I can't make the full distance, but I'm hoping to run the half marathon instead.  I should be able to make it if I can get the fever to break.

That is such great news...and I know you and your hubby's turn is coming soon!  I have been thinking about all of our adopting couples on here constantly and just waiting for the posts that you got matches!

Hubby sent me flowers a couple of days ago from Devin for Valentines day.  It has been ages since I got flowers delivered and of course, I wasn't even here when they came, but he was.  So when I got home he had them all set up for me.  They are tulips and I think they look the best today than they have all weekend!

My cousin came in town this weekend and we worked on cleaning out the garage all day.  There were tons of treasures from our childhood.  It was a lot of fun going through everything actually.

Well Valentine's day was great this year no crying and nothing bad happen unlike last years nightmare. I  had to work today and this is my last week of working seven days a week unless they make us work of if they need volunteers. I can't believe I'm saying it after working two weeks straight I might work another weekend, but I need the cash.

Today is Blue's gottcha day and my first year of being out on my own what a year it has been.

Happy Gotcha Day Blue!   I don't know what nightmare you faced last year but I do know I am glad you didn't have a repeat.

Well, you keep on keepin on. There are times where I have worked 7 days a week, 12 to 15 hours a day for months at a time. And I would do it, right now, even though I told myself I wouldn't do that again. I, too, need the money.

Happy Gotcha, Blue. You are a blessing and the constant that gives your human some measure of stability in a strange world.

We have a pretty good storm coming thru today and the wnds have been pretty bad already. Hopefully no trees or fences come down. We always seem to have these storms when DH is working :(

We decided to go look for some new family room furniture yesterday. We stopped at Lazy Boy first and within 5 min's I found exactly what we wanted and we bought it. It's a leather couch with recliners on each end and then a recliner chair to match. It'll be delivered on Friday, so I'm really excited about that. We went from there to have an early dinner (4:30) but the first place, Outback, had a 1 1/2 hr wait. The next place had reservation only seating, so we just grabbed some fast food and came home. We never eat junky fast food, so it was kind of fun for us.

I need to clean the house today and other than that, I plan to just relax.

Brrrrr!  Got down to 14 last night!  But, already back up to 24, so as long as the temps "bounce back" I'll not complain.....much.

Am going to see Mom today and will stop and get her something Valentiney to cheer her up a bit.  One of the things that bummed her out is that one of the men had the barbershop quartet come and sing to his wife at lunch.  Mom has been alone for 30 years since Daddy died, so "romantic" holidays bum her out.

Its sunny here for the first time in a week or two.  I feel good.  Getting out of bed wasn't so hard today.  Maybe I should spend some time outside in the sunshine.  Wouldn't hurt the girls or Kale either.  I'm going to do a bit of painting for my dad in a bit.  After that I do believe some outside play is in order.  I wonder what the temp is?  I'll have to check that.

I want another day to celebrate romance.  I want Valentines Day to be about my kids.  We went out for dinner last night without them and I kept looking around at other couples that had brought theirs, and I sat there missing mine.  Normally I totally game for a night away.  Not last night.  I wanted them there!   Plus all the cutsie little stuffies and Valentines things they sell would be so much more loved by my girls than me.  We got them each a little teddy bear, and Kelci went straight for the tags to chew on, but they were so happy with them.  Kale got a case for his DS(not Vday themed, he's a boy) and a new stylus.

Next year, I think I'm going to have a Valentine's Day Party for the kids and a few of their friends.  Then their parents can go out for a nice dinner or something and stop by after for a bit of the party(or stay for the whole thing if they want).  Then they won't have to pay a babysitter, and I'll have an excuse to spend it with my kids.  Hehe, and I can decorate!  Ooooh and make cute little cupcakes!

It's raining and windy ... very, very windy.  The temp says 50 but the wind chill is 42.  The Amjen Bike Tour of CA starts here today and half the streets downtown are blocked off.  There isn't enough money on the planet to make me go out in this kind of weather to catch a peek at Lance Armstrong zipping along. I'm going to take Max's bandanna off so that when he goes out to pee he doesn't come in with something cold and wet around his neck. It's not even 9:30 a.m. and I'm ready for a nap.
