I read in the bathtub. :) I love the feeling of being surrounded by hot water, totally relaxed, totally isolated from the outside world. My ultimate: reading in the bathtub, with an ice-cold fruit smoothie. Heaven!!!

Bath, book, chip sandwich and real hot chocolate!

Ok Chuffy, what the heck is a chip sandwich??Wink

An even more profound question...why the heck do people SHOWER?  I hate being inconsistently wet, at the mercy of the shower head, getting water in my face while I'm balancing on one leg like a crane trying to shave the other one......plus I can NOT get anywhere near as warm in a shower as I can in a bath.  And when I get out of the tub, I stay warm...when I get out of the shower, I FREEZE!

Chip butty... you know.... chips.... like fries?  Only fatter?  I prefer oven chips, not deep fried.  Thick white bread and lots of real butter, just a little bit of ketchup.  Makes your arteries clang just thinking about it!

Got to say, I hate the ideaof sitting in my own dirty water.  So if I am very dirty, I would prefer a shower, but we don't have one.

I also hate idea of ALL that hot water going down the drain.  A shower uses a tiny fraction of that.  I have a bath every day, but I can't wait till we have a shower.... daily baths seem like the height of extravagance to me!

I read in the shower because the temperature stays consistent...the bath always seems to cool down to an uncomfortable level just as I'm getting to the good bit.

I run/workout twice a day.  When I get home I am almost always dirty & sweaty.  I don't want to sit in the dirty water, so I shower twice a day instead of taking a bath.  My two showers, even with my book joining me, use less water than one bath would.

The only time I get in the tub is when DH insists on me joining him for a bath.  Even then, I shower first! Big Smile

When we "do" our bathroom, we will include a bath big enough that we can both enjoy it!  And one of those bubbley things as well... probably.  (Cue disgusting joke about starchy food....)

I can hold the book in my left hand, and turn pages with my left pinky finger.  Then I just hold the book out in front of me, and it doesn't get hit by the spray.  I can wash everything (and shave my legs!) with my right hand, and right before I get out, I set the book down (outside the shower) to wash my left arm.

You are FAR FAR more coordinated than I am -- not to mention the length of your left arm to keep the book dry?  And turn pages with your pinky whilst reading?  I truly wouldn't have believed it had I not read it with my own two eyes (both on the front of my head which would be crossed if they tried to read off to the left side whilst not getting shampoo in them while I do my hair!!)

LOL -- this is too cute -- I truly wouldn't have believed it possible.

I must say, this is the first time a thread here has made me want to go shower...or bath.

I shower off quickly before I take a bath.  I can't stand the idea of sitting in dirty water either.  Also, I won't shave my legs in the bath...ewww to the teeny bits of hair floating around me.

I'm glad you get such a kick out of it!  I've been an avid read-while-doing-something kind of person ever since I was really young (I used to follow my mom around the grocery store reading behind her at like, 6 years old).  The turn-pages-with-your-pinky thing isn't too bad unless I'm reading a large book...like one of the later Harry Potters or something. Stick out tongue

Hey Inifiniti -- I'm not DRESSED unless there's a book in my purse (and heaven help me -- if I'm close to the end I gotta carry TWO)

But you gotta understand -- my shower isn't big enough any more -- because I can't hold my arm out LONG/FAR enoug to read the danged shampoo bottle -- much less a book!! (rotf in hysterics)

My kindred spirit!  I always have at least one book with me, and also carry two if I'm near done.  Also, my loving husband is forcing me to confess that I won't even go to bed without having a book with me.  Even if I'm half-asleep and NOT planning on staying up to read, I like having it on the bedside table...just in case.

I don't sleep well unless I read a bit when I climb into bed.  Sometimes it's only a paragraph but it is an addiction

While I read in the tub I've never tried it in the shower...and probably won't.  I'm just too muc of a clutz.

I agree with not sitting in my own dirt, but if I'm really groady I take a shower, then later take my nice comfy, cozy bath later.  I do take a shower now and then, but, yech, for an everyday thing.
