Lol, it always makes me smile at how commands come in handy sometimes!

I hope your vet is just being cautious, being safe rather than sorry!  I'm crossing my fingers that Bugsy's kidneys are just fine!

I would SO rather it be a vet who is being proactive than a vet who says it's prolly nothing and it's NOT.  Bugsy -- just cuddle her -- it works better.

Sending lots of prayers and healing thoughts for Bugsy. Karen, did you mention his increased appetite to the vet? Wouldn't being hypothyroid or having kidney disease cause him eat less than normal?  I can understand how worried you are, having been there too when we made trips to the e-vet because of Jessie's allergies, but he's young and strong and should be fine; {{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}].

Oh my sweet Bugsy! I hope everything is okay and will be thinking of Bugsy!!

Janice -- hyPOthyroid will make them hungry and unable to lose weight.  However renal "failure" will make them nauseus and unable to keep food down.  Something like a kidney infection or similiar wouldn't affect the appetite usually.

The nausea in renal failure comes from the toxins from the kidneys dumping/shunting into the stomach (they can get mouth ulcers, stomach ulcers, etc. from the acid).  But vomiting would be a really 'bad' sign.

Sending belated good wishes to you and Bugsy, and hoping that the diagnosis is nothing major.  I understand how worried you're feeling - waiting for results and word from the vet is awful, and one's imagination can really go crazy with scary possibilities.  We'll cross our fingers that everything is okay!

Wow you are all super awesome!  You have really helped me to be more calm and not feel so stressed.

I won't hear from the vet until later today sometime and although I will be out all day I will try and post an update as soon as I can.

For the record I don't really see any signs of kidney failure - he is not nauseous, lethargic or having loose stools. He isn't peeing more or less often or drinking excessively.  And he is right here waiting for me to finish my yogurt so he can lick the bowl.  Appetite is fine and in fact he does at times act starving.  Oh and he is certainly not 'wasting' - the vet laughed about that because he had remarked at his physical that he was the most solid built dog he'd met in 20+ yrs of practice.

So I am trying to think positive about the kidneys.  I will not be surprised if his thyroid is low functioning but that can be managed.

Once again thank you all, you are all very much appreciated, I will certainly let you know asap
