"good understanding" -- but I'm a danged good parrot!!!  *sigh*

I can tell you guys this -- Billy and I both would be SUNK regarding allergies if it weren't for homeopathy.  Now I do still have to take Benedryl .... but it's all controllable WITH the homeopathy.

Billy has only had to have a benedryl TWICE (one pill -- two **different times**) in the past year simply for itching.  Other than that it's just the homeopathy remedies and the special "auto sanguis" treatments Dr. Demers gives him.

the Auto sanguis IS a homeopathic -- but it's very very comparable to the process that goes into making allergy shots in a way, except it's gentler on the body and gets the body to police itself rather than giving the body a substance to FORCE something to happen.

but I tell ya -- I've had two **colds** in the past year.

Now ... you guys don't understand what a big huge mega humungous deal that IS for me.  Because all my adult life, if I got a 'cold' it never even stopped at 'go' -- it never WAS a "cold" -- it would immediately ZOOM all the way past "flu" to "BRONCHITIS" and "allergic bronchitis" and "chronic obstructive pulmonary disease".

I literally have never had  "cold" in my life -- it has ALWAYS simply immediately been severe.  Homeopathy has changed all that -- in so many ways.

So yeah, I get pretty excited about it.

. Mold is super duper high up here and I'm assuming it would be at least as bad down your way since you've been if anything, warmer the last wet week (did you get all that fog? Super creepy!). I hope they come to the same conclusion - it's possible they'll investigate the T4 number a bit more closely and if they do, that would be terrific.

Yep, I hadn't thought about the molds issue but it was at this time of year that Sassy had her worst allergy problem that resulted in a very hard to treat infection of her tummy area. It was absolutely related to the mold spores at that time of year. Hopefully it's a similar situation for Bugsy. It was only a few months prior to that when we found out she was very hypothyroid as well and although she'd been put on meds and was doing better, I'm not sure her body had completely adjusted. If you're going to have more bloodwork done anyway, I'd ask for a full thryoid panel to be done.

    • Gold Top Dog

Mr. Bugsy, I sure hope your bloodwork turns out to be ok!  Maybe eat a mole for some extra fiber...Smile

Keeping fingers and paws crossed here for good results!

Hoping the Vet can reassure you that it's not a big deal.  Sending positive thoughts to you and Bugsy.

well like Callie said it isn't usually what you are worried about........

The vet is mostly worried about his kidney function - totally agreed that the eosinophil number was likely due to allergies

However he seemed fairly concerned about his kidneys.  So I need to catch some urine and bring it to them - he said if it is fairly concentrated there is nothing to worry about.  If it isn't he said they will do a kidney ultrasound.

They are also going to use the same blood sample and run a free T cell (I am entirely not sure of the exact term) to further investigate the thyroid level.

So I guess I am still freaking a bit and thinking this dog is soooooooooooo my dog.  I have horrible kidneys Sad

We have fingers & paws crossed here that the vet has answers for you, & that the big guy is fine.

Karen, don't read this.  Bevo wants to send Bugsy a messsage....

"Bugs, your mom is kinda upset right now.  You have two choices...you can snuggle up with her & make her feel better, or you can ask to go to the lake for a swim.    I recommend going to the lake to chase the ducks.  I mean SWIM. Angel  Your mom probably won't get mad at you, & if she does get mad, just snuggle up next to her & try to look pathetic.  It works.  TRUST ME!"

    • Gold Top Dog

Well that's not the best news. Can't they get a urine sample for you? That is so hard to do and it probably won't be as sterile as if they did it.

    • Gold Top Dog

I hope it's nothing serious. We're thinking of you, Bugsy!

Well that's not the best news

No but I am trying to be hopeful that his urine is just concentrated.  I also wonder if the fact that he is on a high protein diet is a factor - not a stress on the kidney but just a simple lots of protein in lots of creatinine out sketch.

They just asked if I would, like everyone else they'd rather I handle the big dog.  I think all they are really concerned with is the concentration of the urine.

These guys are super nice but I may look elsewhere if I need more specialized care.  We are awash with vets here due to the vet school so choice isn't an issue

Bevo dat sounds gweat.  My mom is especially boring today Sad  It might be a bit chilly to swim though, but if da geese can do it I can too

Oh crap Karen!  I was posting when you were updating.

I'm sorry that the news wasn't all good, but hopefully Bugsy's urine sample will be concentrated, & all will be good.  Don't stress over this too much.  Even *if* something is off, you have caught it early, & will be able to get a handle on it.

    • Gold Top Dog

BUGS!!! What are you thinkin' bud??  You need to pee some good stuff and stop skeeeering us.

Karen, i'm hoping it is indeed nothing, just a little cry for attention from Bugs... they do like to keep us on our toes.

**good thoughts & prayers & hugs** on their way!!

    • Gold Top Dog

Again thank you to everyone - urine has been collected and delivered.

It was an easy job with a tall, male dog who goes on command Geeked

I should have the results of that tomorrow sometime but I will be gone most of the day BUT I will post as soon as I can with the results
