Love or Hate It

Re: Darwin Fish.. I had an emblem on my last car that was a fish with legs, eating a regular (is it IXOTE?) fish, that said "Reality Bites". Is that offensive to some? I'm sure, but what isn't? And it amused me. Isn't that what life's all about? Amusing yourself? [:D]

Signatures..the only sigs that have ever annoyed me are the ones that are JUST a picture. No text, no headline, no nothin', just the picture. They confuse me, cause if you don't see the line separating the post and the sig, it looks like someone's posting a picture in every post they make, and that also confuzzles me...

I'm not a fan of the religious stuff, but it sure doesn't bother me! To each their own.

I love the "Kiss my pink nose" one, particularly for the pink-nosed dog on the right. I'm new to this forum so I don't know the pittie's name, but he is ADORABLE. I stop and look at that sig every time I see it.

that's ROSIE and SHE says "thank you"... LOL... and she's not offended.  she can hang with the boys and she's a bit bossy[;)]

    Ah, sorry Rosie.  You're gorgeous!

Since I'm not computer-literate enough to know how to do a photo for my signature line, and since I have a zillion favorite quotes, I'm boring and have nothing but my name.  But I do enjoy looking at everyone's sig that has cute dog photos, and I love to find new quotes among the various ones people have here.  After I begin to recognize certain ones, I scroll past them fairly quickly in order to get through all the posts in a thread.

A bit off topic, but the posts about the Christian "fish symbol" reminded me of a funny story.  My friend from Connecticut was visiting us here in Oregon years ago, and after she'd been here several days, we were walking through a large parking lot.  She said, "Boy, a lot of people here buy their cars from the same dealership."  I said, "How do you know that?"  And she said, "They all have that logo on them," and she pointed to a car with the fish symbol.  [&:]  I hadn't seen that symbol outside of church settings when I lived in New England; it's definitely more prevalent here (on cars, in advertisements, etc.).  It did give me a chuckle!

well, Rosie says "thank you, i AM gorgeous, aren't i?"[;)]  she's got a bit of an ego, you see... and she thinks that Jack ( i presume, in your sig) is dashing and might make a nice online boyfriend for her, if he has the time... [sm=rotfl.gif]

    Thank you, jettasmommy!
Paige, I love that quote, I should put it back up LOL.
And Shel, I am glad you like the new pics - yours is getting made today. :)

I'd like to clarify that the quote I commented on in my previous post doesn't bother me for religious reasons - who am I to comment on what people believe? Whatever gets anyone through the night is fine by me. It only bothers me because I am not so much a fan of non-dog related quotes here, and because as I stated before, it's innacurate in a way that I personally find demeaning.

I do too!  Badrap, your signature and avatar always show such a "kick ass" attitude. [sm=wink2.gif] I love it.  Holy Smokes! I love that tongue!

We should form a "Pink Nosed Pooch Club"  - notice that Gracie also has a pink nose.  I think that is why people think that she is part pit bull.  She is actually a "Lemon Head" pointer (golden markings with matching nose, and eyes).

    I like BadRap's signature, too.
There isn't really a signature that I hate. They all are kind of interesting to me because they show little things about people's personalities, interests, etc.

Well, as I post here with my Jesus avatar and my "detestable" fetus ticker....[8D]

I love DumDog's siggy quote.  I'd say that even if I weren't a Christian.  I enjoy reading things that challenge me and cause me to think.

Ixas girl has my all-time favorite quote, that I used for quite some time on the last forum I was a regular member of - and I was planning to use it here til I saw that she has it!!  That chapter from The Little Prince is my absolute favorite.  In fact, I have picture frame for my husband engraved with the quotes, "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." This is on the top of the frame, and the bottom is the "You are responsible, forever, for what you have tamed." quote.

Gradyupmybutt and the bit about "animal testing" cracks me up every time!!!!!!!!!!

That one is my hands down favorite!

"They all have that logo on them," and she pointed to a car with the fish symbol.

     [sm=biggrin.gif]  That was cute!

I have to say I like Annie's with the animal testing, guess I see it in my mind as a cartoon and it makes me smile [:D]  And Glenda's too -- my house is definitely a home!

The signature line that I've thought of the most since this thread started is "nice matters".  I'm not sure who had it and maybe they've since left [8|], but it's just something that kept popping into my mind as I've read the criticisms in this thread hard when I didn't know what was going on with Sassy and had to watch her suffering and feel completely helpless.

Couldn't agree with you more. Nice does matter!  Working with the public, at times, makes me more of a hermit in terms of not voicing a strong opinion until I feel threatened or made fun of.  Even then, I usually restrain from saying exactly what's on my mind.  With a forum, it's difficult to determine the 'voice' of the person posting... they could say something easily taken the wrong way or be easily offended by something that they read.  I guess I'm more of a non-argumentative person.

A religious sig expresses personal views...ok...and some people don't agree with those views....ok....

A sig that says how much someone loves Cocker Spaniels is a personal view. Now, I may dislike Cocker Spaniels, but saying that I dislike or am fed up of seeing sigs that talk about Cocker Spaniels is a little....well.....overly sensitive.

People have a complete right to express their opinions and beliefs as long as they do not insult others....so a general, inoffensive religious sig in my mind is no different from an "I am proud to be a herding dog lover" or "I am proud to be of such-and-such an ethnic descent " or "I am proud to like vanilla ice cream"....

I totally agree with that.......I don't care what is in a siggy, if I don't like it, I don't have to read it........

BTW, if one thinks my siggy is too big......well, tough.....you don't see me complaining about chopped up posting styles, or posts that read like a novel where one has to scroll forever.......[;)]

I love all the sigs, but as others have mentioned - the huge-by-large ones are annoying.

My sig on another board was:

"There's a fine line between hobby and mental illness." Dave Barry

I'll have to reseach a new quote for my sig here. The sig I used on the scrapbooking board where I used to hang out is one of my all-time favorites. I even put it on my studio wall at home. But I was afraid people here would take it the wrong way and think that I thought dogs were just a "hobby"
