    Love or Hate It

I got thinking about all the signature phrases that our members have.  Are there any that you really love, or really hate?  (Not intending to start any flame wars on the latter, please.  Just a dignified opinion will do.)

I LOVE Jaimes big flag sig.  I don't like the ones that glitter, sparkle or change...but mostly because I have dialup and it messes with my connection.  One of these days I want to take pics of the crew and have some talented member make me a new sig, but I think that the sig line will remain the same.

I'm not crazy about the ones with references to God....not because I'm not a Christian, but because religion should be a personal thing.  I'm wierd about folks who want to "witness" to me too.....don't like that either.

Force, no matter how concealed, produces resistance.
    ~Lakota proverb

Drives me nuts. LOL But I still like you.

"Only two defining forces , have ever offered to die for you,
Jesus Christ, and the American soldier.

One died for your soul, the other died for your freedom."

    Powerful

A house without fur is not a home.
    Glenda

    How true.

This is the first one I thought of too.

Am I allowed to vouch for my own? I know someone else also has it.

"Dogs are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole."

I believe it was Roger Caras who said it?

Although admittedly sometimes I wonder if Beau isn't my whole life ;)

    me too...
er.. i mean i agree.. not afraid to post.

i just wanted to be different and still express who i am with my sig. i like dog quotes and use them a lot in my day to day interactions with people, and i think they say a lot and have a lot of power and make people think, but then thats kinda the norm here.
its obvious that i love dogs otherwise i wouldnt be here so i didnt feel the need to mention them in my sig. also i'm a Christian and a patriot. i dont want to witness
to anyone unless they want me to. but i'm also not afraid to let people know my views on politics and religion. a lot of people think our country is
in the can but as a patriot i can not accept that kind of defeat. i'm still proud of America and its people and government because there are a lot of
alternatives that i am not yet willing to accept. we have BSL in a lot of cities but not where i live. if that ever did happened here then i'd probably pack up my bulldogs and move to Antarctica..
as for my opinion on other sigs.
i love them! its how i identify who you guys are [:D] sometimes i can remember your names here but mostly when i see your dog in your sig i know who you are.
once in a while i get a little mixed up because some of you have dogs that look the same or similar. mostly its you GSD or fluffy dog owners but that only makes it more of a challenge to over come which is good for me. .like playing memory games [;)]

That's one that bothers me, I won't touch on the god thing-since I'm an athiest.

I will, however touch on the "american soldier" line.  I am a former Marine, never was a soldier-never wanted to be a soldier.  I offered my life for my country.  I have several friends that died for their country.  None of them were soldiers.  My step dad was in Vietnam, he wasn't a soldier- he was an airman.  His father was a sailor.  I would love to see the word "soldier" changed to "American fighting man" or "Soldier, Marine, Airman or Sailor."

    Just my 2cents.

feel free to ignore, but... thats just too nit picky and specific for me. when someone says American Soldier the likely image conjured up is one of a man or woman who defends a country.

    from dictionary.com :
1.a person who serves in an army; a person engaged in military service. 2.an enlisted man or woman, as distinguished from a commissioned officer: the soldiers' mess and the officers' mess. 3.a person of military skill or experience: George Washington was a great soldier. 4.a person who contends or serves in any cause: a soldier of the Lord....so why change it when your preference is just stating the definition anyway? i like to keep things simpler than that.

this is one i dont like as well. nothing to do with the soldier reference though. i pretty much dont like any of the religious quotes.
    • Gold Top Dog
I don't like any of the religious quotes by default, being agnostic/borderline atheist.

I do love Glenda's quote, and I've people PM me and tell me how much they like my tag line above any Strauss picture I have xD

ok this is my last reply and then i am done looking at this thread for good. if you dont like me or my quote then do not read any further.
dont care if people dont like my sig. and i'm not changing it till i find something better. and i am especially not changing it because people are atheistic or non-patriotic.
i am not denouncing anyone's religious or political preferences. i am not changing it to Budah, Alah or Santa Clause, or the "Great Spirit" or governmental public service member, air force engineer, military warehouse stock boy or Army K.P. Tater Peeler.

it's a quote i stole from some british guy in another forum because it states a fact. even if you believe that fact is from a fictional "story". it is written in black and white just like all the nursery rhymes.
humpty dumpty fell off the wall - fact.
Humpty Dumpty fell off the red brick patterned stucco wall .... not a fact.
All the kings horses and kings men couldnt put humpty back together again - fact.
Humpty Dumpty was an egg - not a fact.
they couldnt put him back together again because his insurance didnt cover plastic surgery and there was a protest because the king had no women under his employ which is obviously discrimination and the horses didnt have to do anything because the ASPCA said it was too dangerous. and well the king and all his men and horses didnt care anyway - also not a fact...
do you see what i am getting at?
its a good thing i do live in America because if i didnt i'd be a dictator and you'd all be in big trouble for disagreeing with me [:D]

ok i am gone and never to return to this post.

See.... no offense, but people weren't bashing YOU.  It's just frustrating to read what could be a really interesting thread and have it turn into a war of sorts (albeit mostly one-sided).  It's okay to say why you like your quote, but you don't have to leave threads about it.

    Anyway.

I truly don't pay enough attention to sig quotes to even remember any.  I will have to go look and find one now  [:)]

I love this quote.   I live in a milatary town and have know several people who have died for the country, includung someone who was rather close to our family.
(Preface:  This is not meant to sound rude. Sorry if it might.) I am also a christian.  If I talk about it it is because it is something that defines me.  Bread without flour wouildn't be bread. I wouldn't be what I am without Christ.
Being offended by me talking about Christ would be like being offended at bread because you are alergic to flour.
Don't like it? Don't eat it. But don't tell others they can't because you wont.

I like the sigs that tell others what animals/breed/age they have.  It makes things easier.  No, my sig isn't that way.  I should probably change it, lol.
    • Gold Top Dog
    I like....
    • Glenda's "A house without fur is not a home."
    • Ixas_Girl "You become responsible for whatever you have tamed" (or something similar to that)
    • hdkutz's Max von Stephanitz quote (founder of GSD breed) "Take this trouble for me: make sure my Shepherd dog remains a working dog, for I have struggled all my life long for that aim."
There's not really any I can think of that I don't like.  Sometimes HUGE pictures in a sig can take up a lot of space, especially if the person posts a lot.
