Love or Hate It

I always notice the " Dogs are not are whole lives, but they make our lives whole one "

If I were to put a quote in it would be along these lines :

Dogs and cats instinctively know the exact moment their owners will wake up. Then they wake them 10 minutes sooner.

Properly trained, a man can be dog's best friend.
Corey Ford

If you don't mind throwing tennis balls for eternity, I do have an opening in doggie heaven. - Angel at St. Peter's Gate, to a man seeking admittance

That was what my sig said for AGES. I love that quote.

The religious ones bother me just a bit- because while I am EXTREMELY religious, I'm not Christian....and those quotes seem so blatantly preachy to me. I don't push/advertise my religion to others and don't like others throwing theirs in my face- to me, religion and spirituality is one of the most private things, and it just seems tacky.

That's just me though.

I really love Spiritdog's: "Force, no matter how concealed, produces resistance." Love it, and it's something I try to remind myself of every day. [:)]

At first, this one sort of annoyed me because it seemed a little over simplified, but as time goes on and I work on training more and more, it makes more and more sense to me as a practical, dog specific statement, and I find myself saying it when I'm dealing with difficult dog moments.

As for the "american soldier" one... that one rubbed me the wrong way at first, too, but as I see it more, I understand it more, too.

I don't tend to like the ones that have links ONLY with no other text and no pictures, but I largely just ignore them.

Brookcove,

I'm an atheist so I have no religion. I do think the darwin fish are a little agressive. Why go out of your way to diss someone else's belief?

I have kind of a stupid question:

Can someone explain to me the painting with the "You're a liar" qoute underneath? I look at that thing all the time but I don't "get it". What does it mean??

I like Benedicts, "Sometimes you're the dog, sometimes you're the hydrant". Its cute.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't get it. I don't really like the painting part of that signature actually... not the way it looks, the large size, or the quote.

Imagine if I displayed Buddha sitting on a toilet,

Ok, so unfair - you made me laugh at a disgraceful image!  Somehow, though, I don't think the Buddha would care. [;)]

I liked Kate's old quote about the gene pool needing a lifeguard.

I LOVE Meilani's "Crackheads" signature line.  Her new(er) avatar pic is adorable, too.

I thought that the chicken was trying to tell the boy that the egg came first.

But looking at it again.. it is an awfully big egg Could be that the egg is so big that the boy doesn't believe it came from that bird?

Wait.. is that a rooster?

Now.. I'm confused.

I thought it had to do with that little chicken laying such a huge egg?

• Gold Top Dog
You're probably right.. I'd thought that it was a play on "which came first the chicken or the egg?"

If that is a rooster maybe the boy doesn't believe he is the "father" of the egg?

Hands down, though, DPU's is my favorite. I love the idea of playing as a job.

I like his sig, too. One of my favorite sayings is my own, though. I should have made it into a sig. "I aspire to the nobility of a dog."

I thought it was because it was a rooster and it couldn't have laid that egg.

As for likes or dislikes...I don't have one that stands out more than an another, but I also don't care for the signatures that are so big that I have to scroll left and right to read the message.  I like the signature lines that have pictures of your dogs and clever quotes.

that is my take on it.... a rooster claiming he laid the egg.

overall i prefer sig's with pictures of people's dogs (or at least their pets). this is a dog forum afterall. i try to make my signature be forum specific. on a bike forum my sig has something to do with bicycles. [sm=2cents.gif]

as to the religious ones.... i am not particularly religious or atheist or agnostic, i am definitely a fence straddler on this topic, but i dont see why religious people have to throw their religion in your face constantly. i dont see the atheist quoting nietzsche... "god is dead" or anything like that.
• Gold Top Dog
I didn't even notice the religion quote until it was pointed out in this thread.  I wonder if the people who are seriously offended by it have mentioned it to the person via PM?  I guess I like to look at the sig pics and don't really notice the text.  I also like seeing people's pets.
