Whats the Most Extravagant Thing You Bought For your Dog?

he knows he's handsome (and cute *sigh*) ... and you're right, you could lead a horse with one of those rope leads!!  Those ARE strong.

No, the ones I got are these:  [linkhttp://store.ryansproducts.com/1x6doglewiad.html]http://store.ryansproducts.com/1x6doglewiad.html[/link]

The handle has a 'release' on it like you'd find on a collar, so the handle is adjustable and opens so you can clip the handle around a door handle, or make it big enough to go around your waist.  Like I can clip Kee to the door handle while I get Luna IN the car and then go back and get Kee so I can pick her up.  Or when we're sitting at Give Kids the World I can attach the leash to my belt or my chair or my knee, and have my HANDS free to closely monitor what's going on between dog and child.

I used to get them at Petsmart and now I can't.  But they're just plastic clips like you'd find on a nylon collar.

But I'm still giggling -- for me to buy NINE leashes (3 of each color so all 3 dogs can have different colors and I have a prayer of having a good leash that ... gasp ... MATCHES) was probably the most extravagant thing *I* have done in a long time. LOL

For me, airplane tickets. From CA to CT, CT to VA, and then back to CA again. All so he would be with me during my Christmas vacation and not feel abandoned, since it was very soon after we'd ended up together. (Okay, it was so I wouldn't feel abandoned, too.) Totaled $195 to take him in the cabin with me. ($50 each way on Delta, $95 on Continental - Continental sucks.)

Wow, I should have stayed away from this thread. I buy quality food and grooming stuff, but not much else. But, NOW I NEED on of these collars: [linkhttp://www.cowboycoolcanine.com/designer_dog_collars_dtbh.htm]http://www.cowboycoolcanine.com/designer_dog_collars_dtbh.htm[/link]   It would look sooo good on Dixie :)
Most extravagant thing I got for Maggie the Tzu was Chester the kittie.

I think I fall in the camp of not buying anything over the top (OK, I did pay retail for a Coach collar once), but we do have a separate bank account for the dogs. [sm=eek.gif]

At the end of the day, they are happy, healthy and well-trained, and that's what matters most for us.

A Honda Element.  How's that?  Otherwise I'd still have my truck and be loving life.  [:)]

The most extravagant thing? Well it isn't an object. We spent the money to have Max's knees done, does that count? She wasn't insured so it came out of pocket. She is healthy, happy enjoying life with her "new knees".

We try not to go over board, but we have lots of toys, treats and collars (not fancy ones) for each activity. Teddi has been destroying toys lately, I think Max and Belle have put her up to it, that way they can get new ones [:D]

A CC Crane multiple power source radio with built in led flashlight.......it is also solar powered and they have entertainment all day long outside on the deck or in the lots.......they love it[;)]

I don't count fencing, a large vehicle , dog supplies, home cooked meat or leashes and collars as extravagant things, that's just part of owning animals.......

Oh jeez, I dunno!  I buy things for my dog all the time, because he *needs* them. [;)]  Rhinestone-studded leather collars, sweaters, coats, leashes, toys, treats.  The list goes on and on.

hmm. I guess the single-most expensive item was the house with multi-acre ;property for doggy play.
I don't get the collar thing-- one good basic collar per dog is sufficient. I'd rather spend the money on good food and agility classes/seminars/trials/trainingbooks/trainingDVDs. All the agility equipment is cheap stuff or homemade, the treats are homemade, toys we try to stick with the ones that survive for months so we don't have to buy more. The dogs would rather have play time with us than assorted stuff.

They each have $110 bingo box beds (an we plan to buy 2 more for lounging more comfortably downstairs), and their crates were pricey too at $160 each.   Someday we want to buy a small house with a yard though JUST for the pups. We are reconsidering a dream condo in a high rise downtown so that they can run a bit every day instead of just a few times a week at the dog park.

[&:] Yep, mrv is right, it's got to be the sheep! And guess who has to feed the sheep, and clean their pen, and help with lambing? It sure isn't the dogs! But they do enjoy "their" sheep, and we are slowly getting better and better at herding, so it's worth it. I've also discovered that I really enjoy the sheep too, and my husband is tickled that they pay their way (cattle for the cutting horses was always a money loser).

I'm going to make three jumps and a set of weaves for our backyard, but I just calculated the price of the materials and it's only $66 total for those four things! *doesalittledance*  I'm also going to try to find some tunnels since tunneling is her favorite.

Besides clothes, I've just recently started grooming all 4 of them here at  home so I would say my grooming station and the supplies that I bought to get started.[:)]

Xerxes, I got ya beat.  Honda Odyssey.  [:D]  So when we trial, the pups are crated in the van.

We also bought this house because of the yard where I could set up a fenced agility yard.

Most extravagent thing? Ellie's new hip, now 8 months old. Very expensive (no really) but totally worth it. I'm grateful every day, Nothing could come close to that and to the hoops I jumped through to make that happen for her.
