Whats the Most Extravagant Thing You Bought For your Dog?

I'm a dog collar addict which turned into a job for me. I think nothing of spending 50+ dollars on a collar, as long as it looks nice. Well, i took jersey to the vet for her annual check up & the vet had these samples of some fancy dental chews. She loved them SO MUCH that i ended up spending $30 on this little bag of what are essentially treats. I guess I just really love my dog.

I bought Chopper a nice dog backpack and an "Ask to Pet Me" patch for both sides.  I'm currently in the market for a burgundy leather lead 4'x5/8" with an alligator snap and possibly her name pressed into the leather.

I really love my dogs too.  However, I don't spend massive amounts of money on stuff.  I make their homemade liver treats (pheeeeew, smelly) which they love, typically pick up their collars at Old Navy, etc.  I don't equate the amount of money spent with how much I love my critters.

I have three rescue cats and SIX german shepherds, three of whom are from litters that I fostered, so basically rescues.  The bulk of the money that I spend for my critters goes to super premium quality food, homecooked ingredients, training and top notch vet care and preventative care, and regular blood work.

I'm not trying to be unkind, but I don't think that amount of money spent equals the amount of love for our animals.

Hey I looked at your site.  Those are some nice collars for a reasonable price!  Too bad I already bought Chop a new collar.  We like your Vizsla too!

Zeus has his own Italian leather love seat.

I love collars and clothes and all the fun stuff.  I used to buy my dogs new collars at least once a month.  Now that I am a starving college student, I am going hungry so they can have the best food and vet care.  Unfortunately there's no extra money for the other stuff [:(].

All of my money goes towards a good quality home cooked diet, supplements, medications, vet care, flea and HW prevention, and that kind  of stuff. With all of the animals I have (not just dogs) there isn't much left for extravagent stuff. I get most of their toys out of the 88 cent box at wal-mart, collars and leashes I get either one clearance or from the dollar store, Beds I make by wrapping cheap/old blankets around bed pillows and sewing them closed, I make most of my own treats...I don't think my dogs care if they have 50 dollar collars or not, or expensive treats. They like rolling in dead squirrels and eating chicken poop, after all. [:D]

Probably the most expensive things I buy for otto would be all the food (honest kitchen, ziwi peak, etc). Some of them are pricey! The most expensive single item is this really pretty handmade collar from a local designer. It was like $75. I liked it so much I had her make me another one. Needless to say, I didn't eat for a week, but man did Otto look good!

You mean other than an entire set of agility equipment?  Does the place where we live count?  (Bought with having a 120x120 dedicated agility yard in mind.  That does not include the large dogyard.)  How bout the RV?  The Malinois thinks we bought her her very own puppy.  [8D]

Can I say her vet cost? First year alone was well over $2000 even with my vet tech discount. I don't even want to know what I've spent since then. Then after that I would say her food, various toys, bed, collars, obedience classes and so on. Half my paycheck has always gone to my dog. I would say I live for my dog, practically.

First 6 months of having CoCo, vet bills was ~ $1,000 for the basics (spaying, microchipping, shots, etc), $140 for flea prevention for the year, $55 for heartworm prevention, $125 for basic obedience.

Not to mention all the food Ive bought that I threw out thanks to this site... (Iams, Caser, etc.)

Then all her quality doggy food, toys, clothes, bed, etc.

What's not extravagant when it comes to our dog?  lol

Oh yeah... we're all planning to go to TX from NJ for a wedding in the fall, and we might just rent a whole darn RV just so we can take the dog.... lol

I don't know. I've spent about $200 in collars for her. I make her a new leash like every week. I spend $40 in training every other week. She eats super premium dog food. She gets homecooked food on top of that. She gets expensive training treats. We spent over $60 for a baby gate so she couldn't bolt out the front door and eat the neighborhood dogs. I spent over $50 on a winter coat for her. She's got sweaters, boots, blankets. I should buy stock in cuz balls. Regardless of how much I've spent monetarily, my dog is living GOOD. Oh, and I've spent over $600 just in vet visits and treatments for SKIN issues since we adopted her. Yep, from August to January, we've spent over $600 for those nasty skin issues. Not to mention her prescription shampoo.

My dog is almost more expensive than my human children!

Max is a pretty cheap dog. [sm=rofl.gif] He hasn't needed anything other than routine vet care, he's been wearing the same collar since he outgrew his "puppy" collar and his one sweater came from Old Navy.  He does have a very extensive collection of bandannas - some he inherited from the mutt I had before him and the rest I bought new - $1 apiece at Wally Mart. He eats a good quality food (Eagle Pack) but that's about it for expensive tastes.
