Er, guys, I've been snapped at wayyyyy too many times for me to want to try and 'leash' a dog I don't know and tether it to something. I don't care how friendly it looks, I'm not grabbing for it!

AND some of you would bring this in your HOUSE with a puppy, who I'm guessing hasn't had all of it's puppy vaccines?! No way. Sorry. I think you did the right thing by calling AC and having them deal with it.

No, I wouldn't bring it into my house if I had a puppy who was not completely vaxed, that's why I was thinking maybe one of the other guys could have brought it home, but I have brought strays in my home, taking into consideration the condition of the dog and that my pets are all fully vaxed and on worm and flea prevention. Not everyone can bring in strays, and not all strays should be brought in, calling AC is fine, I just don't understand the hostility toward the dog??

    • Gold Top Dog

Sheesh, guys, think the OP might have been a teeeeeny bit frustrated at the situation, and maaaybe might have reacted by posting an exaggerated venting post?

    • Gold Top Dog

I feel for the dog also,I mean, I'm sure he didn't ask to roam the streets. If anyone is stupid, it's the owners who weren't watching him. I've taken in many a stray and fed them and gave them a place to sleep.   Maybe she was having a really bad day and this was the frosting on the cake. We're all dog lovers, but I'm sure we've all called our own dogs stupid for one reason or another, and later felt bad about it because things just weren't going right at the time.

    • Gold Top Dog

So did AC come get it?

    • Gold Top Dog

Wow... I don't know what to say...

I just hope the poor dog will be alright...

    • Gold Top Dog

I don't know if AC showed up or not, but the dog isn't here anymore.  My dad was convinced that he saw it running down his road on the way home, but that's a good five miles down the road (at least) and across the interstate, so I'm thinking there's no possible way.  At any rate, AC didn't call or come knocking, so I don't know what happened.

I do thank those of you who understood the situation I was in.  Kaiser is still getting his puppy vaccinations and I do NOT want him around unknown, unfamiliar dogs.  Also, what exactly am I supposed to do with a puppy who can't go to the bathroom except to pee on himself out of fear?  I will admit, for whatever unknown reason, tying up the stray honestly never even occured to me.

This has been a very stressful week for me on many levels (quit my job at the dog center, for example) and this was the last straw.  I'm sorry I'm not as compassionate as many of you towards stray dogs.  Overall, I find them to be a big nuissance.  We checked for tags and there weren't any.  I admit that my general frustration is more towards the irresponsible owners than the dog itself.

    • Gold Top Dog

But how are the irresponsible, if they didn't even know their dog was out? Lots of people have dog doors, maybe he slipped out of the fence. Not everyone gets to take their dogs to work with them. You could have tied up the stray - instead of letting him run across the interstate, given him some water and took your puppy farther away to potty. I sure hope your dogs never get away from you.

And no, you shouldn't reach towards a unfimiliar dog, but he was playing with the other people at work. Obviously he is not vicious. I'm just appaled that a 'dog lover' would treat another animal like this. As I've said before, it's not the dogs fault that he is a stray. I can't believe you just left him there. I just cannot believe it.

I can't believe it either.  My prayers go out that that dog finds it's way home and isn't dead on the side of the road.  My God, it doesn't take that much.  Puppy or no puppy.

    • Gold Top Dog

I hate to say this, but you talk about a stressful week, what about the dog!!  Of course he may pee on himself,he's a puppy, for God's sake. Is that how you treat a puppy? Right now, I can't believe you just up and left it. What if that was your dog?  I still blame the owners, if you have a doggy door, than make sure there is NO WAY he can get out. *content removed, personally directed, rude*

    MODERATOR SPEAKING...

Hey folks? Let's not be overly judgemental here okay, because I have my doubts ANYONE here is a perfect person. There is NO need for personal attacks or commentary on one's future children...at all.

Do what YOU would do and leave others to do the same. If you have something to say say it civilly and move on. Beating someone over the head with your judgment is not productive.

    Thank you.

No need to do that......one can create a loop with a regular leash and slip it over the dog's head.....I have done that many times........

I am equally surprised at the OP.......my kennels are empty at this point......he can come to my house.....he wouldn't be the first one...

Thanks for posting the link. What a SAD story. It took Digits mom 5 months to find her and although it was too late in the end she never stopped her search. Her story made me cry! Please everyone remember when you come across a stray dog that someone loves and misses that dog and is probably trying desperately to find them. They may be a nuisance to you, but to someone out there they are their lost baby!
