Curious....what do you all do for a living? And...

Well, I am a substitute teacher so my schedule is very flexible, although I do try to work everyday.

So daily during the week I leave my house at about 7:40 and get home around 3:40.

I also work at Petsmart's Petshotel part time.  I usually only work one to two days/ week.  Usually a saturday (1-9) and occasionally one weekday from 4 - 9.

This usually leaves me with lots of dogs time and if I'm not here, DH is, so they are rarely left alone.

I'm a mechanical designer and work 7-4 M-F.  DH works for a cemetery vault company and usually works 6-2 and part time at walmart M,W,F,Sat evenings 5:30-9:30 (11 on sat).  He lets the dogs out when he gets up and they play in the yard or wrestle in the house for almost an hour.  He's usually home by 2:30 so they're back out then and for the rest of the evening.  I get home at 4:30 and we take a walk for about 20 minutes.  After he leaves for work they're out w/ me or in the yard until about 9:30.  When they're out with us they're either sleeping, wrestling w/ each other, chasing each other (outside), playing fetch or tug.  On Saturdays we take everyone for a walk in the park, usually for an hour or more.  We try to take them (2 at a time) to different places, Petsmart, the feed store, Bones and Cones, eating outside at Panera, etc.  On Sundays one of them comes out to DH's dad's with us in the evening.

I'm a graphic designer. I work M-F 8-5 with a one hour lunch break. I only live about 10 minutes away, so I am able to go home for lunch. DH works 2nd shift, so Rupert is only home alone for 4 hours. It's his nap time.

In the summer I feel like we have plenty of time for exercise (walks, mountain biking, swimming). But in the winter, it's darn cold and already dark when I get home, so Rupert doesn't usually get an evening walk. We live out in the country, and there's no sidewalk, the shoulders are snowbanks, and people drive like wackos. I could drive him into town, which I have a few times, but then I have to deal with salty paws.

We have tracking class once a week, we play in the yard until he gets cold, and have random play dates here and there. We do inside obedience and tracking practice, and playing fetch down the hall. He doesn't get as much exercise as I'd like, but in the cold weather his energy level seems to drop anyway.

I am a Senior Director for a Market Research company and work 7 - 4 5 days a week.  Charlie is home with DH and the little one.  DH works part time from home so really Charlie is never left alone unless we go to the store or out or something like that.  We don't have a yard so Charlie is walked on leash 4 -5 times a day (in the winter there are more frequent shorter walks).  In the summer we go to the park on the weekends where he runs around on a 20 ft. leash in the early morning hours.

I work as a receptionist at a local vet clinic, currently working towards vet tech. I work T, W, F and Saturday from 8-5, half day on Thursday and S and M off. I live 10 minutes from work, so I usually come home on lunch break. My DH is self employed and usually home during the day, so Sniper is rarely alone. I spend most of my off time with her.

wow, now I feel bad for my dog being home alone so much of day. It seems you all either work pt or you have a significant other who comes home earlier or stays at home.  I work as an Account Executive for a staffing company from 8-5 and DH works from 8:45 - 6.  So our house is empty of human presence from 8-6 every day.  I do have someone come during lunch time for 20 minutes to take Zoe out.  I was taking her to doggy daycare 2x a week but I've stopped that because I started getting the feeling that it was not helping with some of her behavioral problems.

when I get home from work we do some obedience training, and 20 minute evening walk (although I can't say that is happening regularly in the winter Embarrassed).  Then it's snuggle time on the couch.  DH and I are not very active people so that is one of the reasons why we have small dog, although, she is a very active small dog.  I also do agility class with her 1 night a week and obedience class 1 night a week.  Starting tomorrow, my dog walker will be taking Zoe on a "ride along" 1 day a week, where Zoe will accompany her on all her dog walks.

I'm a freelance writer & also work part time  as a receptionist for a doctor's office. So yeah, plenty of time to manage the hounds, whelp litters, etc.

I'm the Human Resources Director for a commercial heating and air conditioning company. I work Mon - Fri from 8-5, but I only work about 20 minutes from the house, so I go home every day to let the boys out at lunchtime. DH is active duty Navy, so when he's not out to sea, he's usually home by 3:30 in the afternoon. The evenings are usually spent at home with the boys, and they get almost daily walks.

I'm a commercial real estate agent, and DH works with me also. I work M-F 8-5. I work from home when I can, and I also bring the dogs to work sometimes (when I don't have any people coming in).

We play in the morning in the yard, and we take a long walk weekdays after work. It is hard to get a good walk before dark in the winter, but in the Summer it is much easier. On the weekends, we do longer hikes, swimming, dog park, etc. We also do training classes, and we are going to start up agility in the summer, and maybe also some other activities.

DH and I really are homebodies, and we don't have much of a life outside the dogs.  We don't really go out with friends (we have them to our house). Even our vacations recently have been dog friendly.

I love reading what everyone does for a living and how they manage quality time with the fur-kids.

I am a visual artist working in all drawing media and watercolor. I do people and pet portraits and abstract works. I work at home, so Casper gets me to himself all day. I am fortunate to be retired from having to work away from home. My DH is Civil Service at Tinker AFB.

Casper will soon be a model for one of my portraits.

I work 50 + hours/week at a large hotel chain in the business analysis area.  DH travels out of state 2-3, sometimes 4 days a week so life can be a little stressful.

45 Minute off-leash romp at the dog park every morning at 6, no matter the temperature.

1 day/week a dog-walker visits, 1 day/week they go to day-care.  The other days, either DH is home and working 1/2 days in office, 1/2 at home or I drive home (5 miles) at lunch for a walk.

Every evening (except day-care day) a romp of 45 minutes to an hour or a longer walk followed by dinner, play time and training/games time.  Morrison and I go to obedience class one evening a week also.  Weekends are spent doing activities that the boys can participate in.  Needless to say, my house is a mess and I don't eat well.

For all that - I love it and wouldn't pass up a moment!

I'm a nanny, but the kid comes to my house..so..daycare provider? Except it's only one kid. Actually I'm "on hiatus" right now, cause the Mom just had another baby. In March, it'll be two kids.

    I should've gotten a job in this time off..but I didn't, much to Cherokee's delight.

So yeah, I'm home full-time, but I'm not able to walk Cherokee or anything during the day because she's reactive and I don't want to deal with that with a 4 year old next to me. But we do little short training sessions throughout the day, and I play with her in the backyard, give her bones and toys if she's bored, and she absolutely adores the kid, so... it works. I walk her at night. That's easier anyway, fewer people and dogs to react to late at night.
