I am a master electrician. In December, I got re-hired at a company I worked for from 1-01 to 8-05. This company is an electrical contractor and we primarily do new construction of schools. Usually public schools. A few years ago, we did the Science and Technology Building at Texas A & M in Commerce, Texas. We also did the Collin County Justice Center and Courthouse in McKinney. Right now, I am working on a new middle school for a rapidly expanding little town. This thing is a monster at 258,000 sq ft. And it will be dwarfed by the new high school in the same town that we just started. At this point in time, I am a lead person or foreman working under a project superintendent at our company. He is responsible for the entire electrical installation and temporary power. And am responsible for parts of the the project and report to him. For example, I am responsible for the stage, cafeteria, library, kitchen, and main electric room and pump room (area 4 and the building has 7 areas. I am also in charge of distribution and switchgear. That's all of the electrical panels in the whole building and the Main Distribution Panel. But still, it all fits in the hours of 7:00 to 3:30, usually, though we will be working some Saturdays.

Usually, I have to stop at the store on the way home. So, it might be close to 5:00 when I get home. Later on paydays because I have to go to the bank.

DW works retail and her schedule can vary, averaging 35 hours a week.

I used to walk Shadow in our town. But so many people elect to let their untrained dogs loose and I got tired of so many of the wrong kinds of dog meetings. So, we don't walk as often as we used to walk. Plus, when I get home, Shadow usually hasn't eaten, except for the occasional treat to go out the door. He is hungry and we fetch a few times (his idea) and then he eats.. Later, we may work on training. A lot of times, we just play which consists of tug and chase and fetch. Chasing is fun because I know he gets a kick out of it and he can run as fast as he possibly can, which is really how dogs get around. We get good long walks on the weekends plus social time.

I work with adults who have mental retardation, like someone earlier in the thread.  I leave the house M-F at 7, and usually get home at 3:45.  My partner teaches at a university, so her schedule varies, and she has lots of time off.  When she's working, she usually leaves an hour or so before me and gets home and hour or so after.  We have two kids in college, who live away at college, but are home on breaks.

When we are both working and the kids are away, we have a dog walker come once or twice a day.  This is for two dogs, though the older one doesn't really need it.  For the time that I'm at home, I try to balance walking the dog, brushing the dog, training the dog and working on desensitizing her with housework, homework, and leisure (like message boards).  I'm still working on learning to walk her (long story), so I don't go far when I do make it out.

I've had one puppy, and I wouldn't do that again until someone retires.  Honestly my limited time was a reason I got a dog off of "death row."  I can get very wrapped up in the fact that I'm not giving them the very best life they could possibly have because of my limited time.

I'm a vet tech. I work full time, but have a weekday off each week, and at least 3 weekends off in a row, sometimes more. Our off time is spent at home with the dogs. I have adult and older dogs, the youngest being 6, and all are pretty lazy. When we get home they're happy to make a quick run outside and then crash on the couch to watch tv/read a book, etc.  Today was my day off and trying to get them to do anything outside with me was a monumental failure. We made it a reading day insteadStick out tongue

In theory I could take them to work with me, but only Legend gets any joy out of sitting at a vet's office (they give him loves there), so I let them relax at home.

I work at a law firm doing recruiting and associate development.  I get into work around 10:00 and am usually out around 6:30 (commute around 30 minutes each way).  I used to be a practicing attorney at a big law firm and knew that I could never dream of having a dog while at that job (too many hours and too unpredictable), I made a lifestyle decision to leave the practice of law to start a family (furry kid first, 2 1/2 years ago, and now first human kid due to arrive in about 8 weeks).  DH leaves the house before I do and gets home after I do.

I get up with enough time to spend and hour and a half outside with Wes each morning (either at the park, the beach, a long walk, a good fetch session or whatever) - both for bonding and for exercise.  Neither DH nor I are home all day, so we have a walker come to get Wes for a walk 5 days a week and an additional playgroup 3 days a week.  Once a week I go in to work late in order to take Wes to a herding lesson.  Wes gets a lot of exercise during the day - when he gets home in the morning, he eats and then falls asleep.  His walker tells me he is almost always asleep when she comes for him, and he is asleep when I get home in the evening...  I think most dogs, if they are getting enough exercise and stimulation sleep most of the day happily.  When I get home, I don't usually leave again - so he is with us for a while before bed (although probably only 1/2 hour of that time is spent actively engaging Wes, the rest is down time that we all just spend hanging out at home together).

I run a drug and alcohol testing program and work part time. I feel like I have lots of time for my animals, although I would love more.

I work full time at a dog daycare/boarding/grooming facility. I bring Lex to work with me everyday ( my shifts range from 8 to 12 hours) So he gets plenty of exercise. On my days off we really just hangout, he usually wont even perk up for a walk or anything.

I am an Office Mgr/Customer Service/Problem Solver for a Rural Telephone/paging company.   I work 8-5 M-F. Our office has recently moved and I am now only 10 miles from home, all country driving.   Hubby is disabled and home most of the time during the day.  We live in the country on 2 acres.  When no one is home the front and side yard is fenced with lots of room to play.  There is a covered porch if the weather is bad.  We are surrounded by the neighbor's pastures with cows/horses.  These are dog friendly neighbors and they help keep an eye out.  When I get home we play ball and feed the birds.  When the weather is nicer we will do the yard work and gardening.   Our sweet Shadow, was great with garden work and had free reign.  He never roamed outside the pastures on each side of us.  I hope to get Rocky (our new pup) interested in helping out in the yard as well.   Hubby is not very active but spends lots of lovin time with our boy.  I am a homebody on the weekends...the kids are grown w/kids so all our extra time is devoted to each other and our fur baby.  The kids are usually laughing about how our fur baby gets treated better than they did, lol.  That could be because our fur baby minds better!  We took Rocky for his first trip to the small lake near our house this weekend.  He loved it, so I see we might be taking more hikes at the lake.

It has been lots of fun seeing what everyone else does with their time!

I'm a hotel manager, I work full time bit dont have to be to work until 10 a.m. and I get off at 6pm with weekends off. I think I have a great deal of time with my dogs becasue my husbands schedule is different then mine so they get lots of attention. There schedule is.....

7:00 a.m.- wake up and strapped down with doggy backpacks to burn extra energy. We walk cement on flat ground for 30 minutes then they get 30 minutes off leash at the dunes where they can dig and play in the sand-we take the short cut back home so it only takes 15 miuntes.

9:00 a.m.- I leave for work, Primo is outside, Rory inside or they are sectioned off by a gate if its raining or cold.

Noon- DH comes home for lunch, he works 3 blocks away so they get 45 minutes to play outside together.

4:00 p.m.-DH comes home, they get free run from outside or inside

6:00 p.m.- I get home, Rory get strapped down with her harness so she can pull DH on the skateboard while Primo and I walk the neightborhood. He requires much less exercise then Rory, lol.

The weekends are an exstension of the dune runs, skateboarding, hiking, or swimming at teh Carmel River. We dont have a choice when it comes to exercising Rory, she is relentless and will pace the house like a crazy dog if she misses her walks, lol!

On the rare days that we cant make the evening walk together DH will take Rory while I'm still at work and Primo gets the flirt pole outside but he preffers to be lazy. I am starting to take one or the other to work more often becasue I have a private office they are getting used to.

Hmmm I was a RN but have retired.  the HUbs was a triple degree Engineer but he also has retired... do we now have a lot f time on our hands?? Nope we are raising 5 grandkids from 2 yrs to almost 9 and we have a pack of 8. 3  still shoeing  as they are pups and 1 vetern. The rest are retired and only come out to play when they want to.

We have ALWAYS had a slam busy home and schedule, yet we make do and things worked out wonderfullly.  We have gone to the Nationals every year for over 15 years and to many other major shows. We breed rarely and with great care.  I think it is all about what is important to you. We no longer go dancing, Bob hasn't played golf in a coon's age and the kids are up first every day. With the years you gain not just experience but the ability to schedule Wink I am 51 and Bob is 67, thankfully we are both very active an happy to spend time with and around the dogs. We have however dumped most of our "friends" who were not real dog folk. Something has to give somewhere now doesn't it??

I am an accountant in a financial office for the Continuing Medical Education department for the University of Michigan Hospital.

As far as animal time goes...I don't think I have enough Wink Sure I have time to walk my dogs when I get home, but if DH does not walk at least one that is a minimum of 2 1/2 hours a night so it is at least 7:30-8:00PM before I think about house chores, dinner etc and because I get up so dang early I want to be in bed by 10. I try to get out to see my horse 3 days a week (Wed, Fri and Sun) he is at a full service stable so he gets out if I am not there. I would LOVE to have more time to enjoy my animals. I like taking them to classes, day trips, finding fun and different stuff to do.

I want to win the lotto so I can just play!

I'm a junior zoologist for a heritage consulting company. I am honestly not sure how much time I will have with my dog because she hasn't lived with me since I got this job. I do live with my rabbit and find I have plenty of time to spend with her, but she doesn't always want me to intrude on her life, so she doesn't need a lot of time. I'm confident I can find plenty of time for the dog when we move and have her around again. I only work 37.5 hour weeks, and it takes me 30-40 minutes to get to and from home everyday (I hate city traffic!). I live in a warm climate, so even in winter it's not a big deal to get out and about. In fact, it's nicer than summer.

I do go out into the field fairly regularly, though, which means several days away from home. I've just come back from a 10 day field trip. That kind of thing is likely to happen more often as I get more experience. Fortunately, the BF adores my animals and is happy to take care of them when I'm not around. He works long hours in a visual effects job, though, and is only home and awake for about 4 hours a day max. Fortunately, animals come first on weekends, and we love stealing Penny away from my parent's house to take her on trips with us.
