Curious....what do you all do for a living? And...

I'm a dog walker...or should I say doggie play group supervisor. I have 3-5 (mine included) dogs per day and I take them to a dog park for doggie playgourps. I keep them all on leash until I get to a path that is less travelled, then they're off leash. Owners do sign a consent form, and I am legally insured and bonded. Or, I do a 30-45minute private dog walk around their own neighborhood, 1 or 2 dogs at a time.  I've been doing this for about a year and I LOVE it. Apollo comes with me everyday.

I work full time as a civil engineer. In reality, if you count the number of hours on a normal week day, I'm only at home and awake for about 4 hrs. It sounds horrible but they still have a good life. I make those hours count and they get lots of exercise and training. The weekends make up for it too.

When I only had 1 dog though it was harder. With 3 dogs they entertain each other so it's not so bad if I am not focusing my attention on them.

I work full time 8-5 Mon-Fri.  DH is a student.  Previously, he was home by 2pm everyday and sometimes didn't leave until 11am or so, so our dogs were never alone more than 4 hours each day, it varied based on his classes.  Now he is a student teacher and will be home by 3:15ish so they will be alone 8-3:15.  However, once it warms up, it will be lighter longer and we can play outside into the evening rather than it being black by 5:30 and too cold and icy for it to be safe for walks.

Our previous schedule was DH would let the dogs out to potty once or twice during the day and take them on a jog or long walk during the day (3 miles).  I would come home at 5 and take them out to potty and on another long walk (3 miles) or to play in the yard.  They play and wrestle indoors with each other every night and we also working on training.

Now, DH will run with them when he gets home and I will continue with taking them out to play or for another long walk.  Once it warms up, I'll start doing agility with Kenya every day for 20 minutes or so (don't want her jumping too much).

Both dogs are always in a training class and we have free reign of our training club.  Often we meet friends before class and let the dogs play in the fenced area outdoors, or we meet up on weekends at a fenced field.

I am pretty much a stay home mom. I do work waiting tables on Saturday nights and every other Sunday while my kids are with their dad (my ex). Sometimes I will pick up a shift here or there too if I need extra money, like this week my kids are out of town with their dad and I'm working 4 nights. My DH is a manager at a jazz club and he works nights, usually 3 pm until 2ish am, sometimes 1, sometimes as late(early) as 4, so we do get alot of time with the dogs. Especially me since my kids are in school during the day too, it's just me and the dogs at home. DH is there, he sleeps late but usually gets up in time to go with us to the park, plus his off days are during the week, so we get to go to the park when there is hardly anyone there. The only day we both work regularly is Saturday.

I'm a stay at home mom. I have to manage my time carefully to make sure everyone gets the attention they need, the house work still gets done, and everyone is well taken care of. Its not too bad as long as I stick with a solid schedule. So far its all working out well with spending time/ training with Aisha and my son. My DH is a huge help too, so if I'm slacking in anyway he is there to help out with either Aisha or our son.

I was going to ask this exact question! I'm a commercial property manager and work about 15-20 minutes from home. I leave the house between 8:30-8:45 am M-F and try to come home every day on lunch. (Anywhere between 1-2:30 typically) I have just enough time to take them out, love on them/play and give them a goodie before I go back to work until 6 ish. Then I'm home after work and we go for our walk, weather permitting. Tonight it's raining so I've tried to play more with them. I spend most of my free time with them, except when I have a few errands to run or the occasional dinner or lunch w/a friend. I am glad they have each other and they get along wonderfully, which is why I have two - so they have company when I'm gone. My 22 y.o. daughter lives w/me and although she's not home much between work and school, she does help out. We love our girls!!!

I work part time as a circulation clerk at our public library. I am gone 20-30 hours a week (depending on who is sick/on vacation).  I am five minutes from home and DSs are usually home by 3 p.m., so Gypsy is rarely alone for more than four hours.

I practice societal sanctioned assault ;) (as my siggie says). I work a lot, but live across the street from the hospital. I spend every sec of free time I got with my zillas. I have a nice nanny for when I take call too :) You'd have a hard time finding dogs more spoiled then mine. I'm not sure if that's a good thing though.

I work as a Capabilities Manager for Victoria's Secret.  I always work 8-hr. days, and my days off vary.  But DH also works retail, and often in shifts that overlap with mine.  Honor is rarely alone more than 4 hours.  When I'm home, she has the run of the apartment.   I'm a big planner, though, and often break up the non-work hours of the day into things that I want to do/get done.  That way I make time for everything that's important, especially my furbaby.

I'm a corporate accountant.  DH and I usually commute together and we're gone -715-530.  DH walks Rory in the AM before we leave, my friend comes with her kids twice a day to let her out and play with her, we try to spend all our evenings with her - walking, playing, she falls asleep on me at nite during my shows.  On weekends we do as much as we can with her, hiking, multiple park trips, playing, etc.  Sometimes i wish I had more weekday time with her, but even like today while i was home, she slept most of the day anyway.  Overall we just try to make the most of what we got.

I review & make recommendations on the approval/denial of loan applications.  I deal with gas, oil, & energy companies on a daily basis.

My work schedule is pretty flexible, & I can work from home 3 days of the week, if I choose to.

I work in corporate headquarters, instead of one of the bank branches, & our office is pet friendly.  Three of the dogs go to day care during the day.  A dog walker goes to the house to walk the other two during the day.

I usually get to the office between 7-7:30 am, & I leave around 4:30 pm, most days.  I almost never work on Wednesdays.

Normally, the dogs get a good run before I leave for work.  Then we go for a walk/hike/run/bike in the evenings, along with short training sessions daily.  One day a weekend is "dog day."  We go to the dog park, hiking, training classes, or even shopping at the farmer's market.  I have more than enough time for all of the dogs, even with working.

I am a pet groomer. I work 35-60 hours a week. On the big overtime weeks, I take Emma with me. I cannot come home for lunch, but she's a big girl, and quite capable of holding it. We usually have three obedience classes, per week, and I try to work her every day, even if just for 10 minutes. We walk 3-4 miles, at least a couple of times a week, and go to the beach for a LONG walk on my day off, weather permitting (that'll stop when tourist season starts up). She also enjoys games of frisbee, ball, and tuggie in the yard. She recently got a Cool Kong, which is a lot of fun for water games. She usually comes to work at least once a week. Everybody there loves her, and she's so good. She used to lay under my table, while I groomed, but the boss started fussing at me, so she stays in the kennel area while I am grooming and comes out while I'm slowSmile

I'm a pharmacy technician. When I'm not working, I'm usually at home with my son and critters. If there's a dog show going on, such as Westminster or the IKC here in Chicago, I'll take off to watch/attend them.
