is it alright to be scared

Again all I can say is that I wish you the best of luck.

Ok, what makes this breeder a responsible one? I'm going to ask again...

    1. Does she show and prove her breeding stock in conformation and/or any other dog related events? If so, has she shown you proof. If not, why?

    2. What health testing does she do? OFA? CERF? BAER? Anything else? Has she shown you proof?

    3. Why is she raising pups in a shed?

You're right that no breeder is perfect but there's a huge difference between an irresponsible breeder and a responsible one. Based on what you've posted, I wouldn't have purchased from the breeder and I'm going by everything you've posted in here and in the other [linkhttp://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=13164]posts regarding ear cropping[/link].

You know what floors me most about this? It floors me that you came to this board and repeatedly asked for advice about how to find a responsible breeder and here you are disregarding everything everyone told you. I can only hope that the puppy you get does not have any health issues because if you think $150 was a lot to put down on a dog, God forbid if it has allergies, Diabetes, HD or eye problems.

I would really like you to change my mind...can you tell me the registereed names of her dogs, I'd love to see the health testing results on OFA. Can you direct me to her website?

Yes, you're right I am a breeder, I have been breeding since 1994. I have had many complications in the litters I have bred in the past, from emergency c-sections, fading pups, mom's attacking pups, bottle feeding, resesitating dead pups back to life. There are things you learn as you are involved and you KNOW not to do the many things that have already taken place with this litter especially birthing in a shed.

I wish the lil pups the best, they need it

I guess you won't be changing my mind then...Good luck

Guys, what we are doing here is pi$$ing in the wind...and making the OP dig her heels in deeper.  WE know that this is not a responsible breeder but we won't convince her.

You're right Glenda. It's such a shame because she is on a board that is overflowing with responsible breeders and people who are extremely knowledgeable. I just hope that putting blinders on doesn't bite her in the ass and sadly, it will be the puppy who will suffer the most.

Unfortunately, if any of these pups live, they are likely to suffer regardless of who owns them.  This is truely a horrible situation.

    Meilani,
These pups are already suffering...they are starving for goodness sakes. It makes me cry imagining their cries because their little bellies are empty. They should be little round bellies not skinny little puppies. Ears and eyes are not fully developed when the pups are born, lack of nutrician will effect the health of these pups as they grow if they survive.

I was blessed with a litter of 7 Friday, bottle feeding and one tube feeding until mom's milk came in late Friday night, they are in my living room, I am sleeping on the couch a few hours at a time. Life as I know it stops when I have a litter.
I am at work but am coming in late and leaving early to make sure these guys are not alone more then 3 hours a day(DH gets home 1pm) Mom is doing well but she was slow on eating, I've cooked to keep her eating and healthy with this size litter, her weight gain is slow but she had stopped eating the Wednesday before her C-section...keep in mind, her due date wasn't until the 11th, I was scheduled to go to VA Thursday night for a show weekend, I knew that my pups were due because momma's temp went down, my vet was called, we scheduled an earlier date for the C-section, spoke to Honey's breeder about going early, consulted the repo book before opening her up. Although we didn't intend to go early we were ready to go early because we are knowledgable and prepared.

My prayers are for the little pups, I hope they will survive and if not I hope they go peacefully to the bridge

My heart just aches for these babies.  One of Little Momma's pups was skinny at birth.  We did everything we could for him, but he died on day 4.  I've never, in all the litters I've helped to whelp, seen a skinny baby live.

    Glenda,
     Four days old...poor lil honey.
That first week is the one when I am on pins and needles. Once I hit day seven and everyone is gaining weight I can breathe easier.
I have a little runt girl who is half the size of everyone else but we keep putting her on a nipple and she has gained 2 oz so she is surviving, active and strong. She took the longest to get started out of the sack and the one I've worried with the most but she seems to have the will to live and I will do what ever I have to so she does

It was rough Jaime.  And you are right, the first week is when I feel like I'm hanging on to my sanity by my fingernails!  And these aren't even MY pups...these are fosters!!  And, honestly?  When little momma went an hour between pups, I called the vet.  When all was said and done, he felt like with 9 pups she was trying to catch her breath......
