Jasmine is a Chesapeake Bay retriever.  Chessies were developed in the early 1800's to aid the solitary market hunters. They are a breed of great endurance and physical stamina who is driven, intelligent, protective, and active. Chesapeakes are extremely loyal, affectionate and clownish. They have engaging personalities punctuated by their "smile"- a greeting that is a grimace with all teeth bared as well as their unique vocalizations - a happy "roo roo" sound that is somewhere between a growl and a howl.  Some people regard them as stubborn, but they are rather easy to motivate if the owner takes the time to find out what motivates them. They do not tolerate harsh treatment and will shut down if abused. They tend to be dominant dogs and require an owner who will be firm, fair, and consistent or they will "take over".
Jasmine is all chessie- silly and fun, but often very stubborn!  She adores people, but prefers not to interact much with other dogs.  She is an excellent watch dog; my neighbors tell me that while I'm gone, she barks at every leaf that blows by!

This is Zena, she is only 6 months old, she is an "Old English Mastiff", she is the best puppy, of course she doesn't look like a puppy, she weighs about 70 lbs now.  So easy to house break, she's a very loveable dog.

Indy is a Chesapeake Bay retriever.  Many people do not recognize him as a chessie because of the color of his coat.  Chessie coat color is anything from a light wheaten color called deadgrass(what Indy is), through the red tones, called sedge, to any color of brown from light to dark. There is no black pigment in the breed, so any black fur, a black nose, or black spots in the mouth would suggest a mix. Eyes should be a pale yellow to dark amber- not brown. The coat is quite unique in that it is short but thick with a tendency to wave on the neck, back, and rump only. The coat should not be curly all over nor be longer than 1.5 inches anywhere. The coat contains quite a bit of oil, should have a good, downy undercoat, and should be springy to the touch. Those coat qualities are what keep the Chessie dry in water. The Chesapeake was bred for endurance swimming in rough, icy conditions.
Indy came to us from breed rescue when he was five months old.  He has been a wonderful addition to our family.  He adores our young son and also gets along famously with our other chessie, Jasmine.  Indy displays the unusual chessie teeth-baring "grin" and also roos when he greets us each day.  We can't imagine our life without our sweet rescued chessie baby!

After losing my toy poodle, Chelsea, in a fire back in January, my heart was very heavy, and I missed having a little bundle of joy to love.  I found Gracie.  She has helped me heal.  I call her my little silver lining because of her chocolate color with the silver underneath. (shes a silverbeige)

Princess Aurora, known as Rory to her friends and family is a American Pitbull Terrier and the love of my life! Rory lives in a part of California where her breed is at a escalating controversy due to the irresponsibilty of a lot of dog owners. Because of this Rory is always on her best behavior! She is a neighborhood celebrity with the children and loves to attend most local festivities, parades, and functions to show off her wll manners. She walks with her head held high and paws out for shaking hands with everyone that crosses her path. She has won the tail wagging contest in our area 3 times (she cheats cause her whole butt wiggles, but shhh we won't tell) A big lover at heart, she enjoys blankets fresh from the dyer, sun bathing, playing catch, frolicking in the waves, and hiking! Rory hopes to set a good example for American Pitbull terriers for the future of their breed!

Sara is a beautiful lab mix. Very loving laid back dog. But still likes to play like a pup. SHe was left all on her own at the young age of 3 months and came to me by running in front of my truck. How could I not take home this beautiful baby? She quickly grew on our family and fit right it. She is my daughter. We love her so much.

How can I get the photos of my dog to be accepted? Every time I try to upload just one, I receive the message that the file is too large. I've tried with gif and jpg extensions. Thanks.

Ben is the love of my life, my right hand, and my heart dog.  He is a working sheepdog (Border collie) and the soul of Irena Farm - without him we'd be adrift.  Every morning we start our routing of working the sheep out of the night paddock, kenning them (checking each one and noting any potential problems), and setting them out to feed.  Throughout the day we move them around to appropriate pastures as the weather and condition of the pastures dictate.  We have basically no fences at the moment, so Ben must be at the ready all day long, to shepherd them back to where they are supposed to be.  At night he gathers them, searching for strays in an area up to 40 acres, completely out of sight and without commands, and returns them so I can ken them again at the night paddock.

Ben and I have a long rollercoaster history.  He has numerous health problems relating to his being backyard bred and being raised basically like a veal calf until he was about five months old.  He was the first Border collie I ever trained and I made a mess of it, not knowing what I was doing and not having any guidance.  I retired him a few years ago after having a young dog trained, but I ended up selling the young dog last year, and started working Ben again.  Meanwhile I guess my training ability had caught up to his improved health and now we are a team again.

    I love you Ben - you'll always be in my heart . . .

Shaq is a 3 year old Saint Bernard, and is typical for the breed. (droopy and laid back.)  Shaq spends his days sleeping on the couch, and moaning when he wants his belly rubbed.

    Dislikes: wind, hot days
Likes: drinking from the faucet, sleeping in the bathroom, walks, & riding in our SUV when I check the mail

Shaq is a very good boy, and is well behaved, which is a miracle because he is also spoiled rotton!

Marley is a Saint Bernard / Great Pyrenees mix. (Your basic little mutt [;)]) She came from a crummy home, and was lucky to end up with us! Marley may look like a Saint Bernard, but she acts like a Great Pyrenees. Translation: Marley is bossy and can be a real handful! (But we LOVE her!!)

Dislikes: being away from her humans, when her humans give Shaq or the cats more attention then her
Likes: going for walks, snuggling on the couch, stealing food off the counter, bugging Shaq and the cats

Marley is very smart, and needs to constantly be reminded that she is not in charge. Little Miss Bossy is constantly catching and eating nasty birds [:'(] and getting into other kinds of trouble. Lucky for Marley, we understand that all her naughtiness and bossy ways are really just typical for a Pyr. Marley is just behaving as any Pyr would, she may be t-r-o-u-b-l-e, but Marley is also very loyal, and I would not trade her for any other dog in the world!
