How much did you pay for your dog?

    • Puppy
    Gidget --> $600 CDN
    Bo --> $1,000 USD (I think it totalled $1,200 CDN when I converted it over.... Not bad seeing I saved for him working at $6.50 an hour in high school)

    Gizmo- free stray pup but after owner her for almost 2 years she's cost me more than I want to figure out, maybe around $3,000 to $5,000 in vet bills and that doesn't include the food I buy for her and other fun stuff.

    My current foster pup who I just got a few days ago from the shelter cost me $35 to adopt then I will pay $5 for the shots because the exam is free and the spay will be taken care of by the ASPCA through the foster program. I will charge an adoption fee but only enough to cover her experiences and not profit from it one bit so someone is going to get a good deal for a wonderful dog.

    Ruffian-female Shiba Inu, she is almost 12 years, $1200.00 cdn, she was sold as a show dog, and her breeder at one point was good, now not so much, but is affraid of heights so showing was horrible for her, she is not spayed, but has not had pups for 9 years.

    Tonka-male Shiba Inu, he is almost 10 years, $1500.00 cdn, also a show dog, finished in 3 weekends, about 7 shows, but was neutered at 2 due to seizers, he accedently bred Ruffian once, through a kennel door, one pup who is almost 9 and just fine.

    Before that my family had 3 dogs, all were free, one given to us by a family friend, Scruffy a terrier corgie cross, he was poisoned at 2, Buddy a corgie heeler cross was a mutt that followed me home everyday, my parents finally let me have her, and she had pups a month later, she was killed my the town animal control a few months later, and Copper was one of her pups that I kept after she died, he passed on in 2000 at 13 when he fell through the ice on the dugout, but we were going to have him PTS that winter since he could harly walk anymore, he just saved me that pain.

    I got my Sheltie Mix for Christmas from my parents 5 years ago so she is supposed to be about 6-7 years old.  I got my English Shepherd from my grandma when she realized she couldn't take care of him (he was about 7 1/2 months old).  So both of mine were free to me!

    Pofi was found by a friend abandoned in a park at 5 weeks.  We took him in at 8 weeks - we didn't give her anything, but even if we weren't going to take him, I had said we would pay for vet, hw tests, fecal tests and vaccinations.  We did take him, and all of those were our expenses.  He's also been neutered and microchipped.

    Mia we adopted via Petfinder and a local no-kill fostering rescue group.  She had been spayed and microchipped and was up to date on shots and we paid a $290 adoption fee plus $10 to get the rescue newsletter.  She seemed to have some infections from the spay, however, so it was hundreds of dollars later till that was all cleared up.
