A dog is not a person

    Guess I am a troll.
I found this site to find answers about a problem with my dog but found all these fanatics.   I shouldnt be surprised. I bet if I went on a snake lovers site I would find the same.

Well good for all of you.
My problem is I have too many instances where the pet OWNER wasnt responsible enough to handle the ending the suffering of a poor helpless animal because they didnt have the heart.

BTW, I am just kidding about becoming a vet.

    More about myself:
Next year I will finish up at A&M and get my  Vet license to make money off your lovies.
Havent had the compassion class yet.

I suspect you're going to need more than just a class...[sm=angry.gif]

    Thank Goddess!

I do love my dog very much.  I do not think he is human.  I do however love animals way more than I like most people.  My last dog had to be put to sleep with inoperable cancer when he was only 8 years old.  My decision to have him put down was based on the quality of his life (not mine).

I have been on this message board for a month or so and I am not aware of any fanatics here.

I love MY dog as much as anyone else on this board. He is spoiled and pampered just like my children are. I will also admit that I do tend to humanize him. I attribute all kinds feelings and emotions to him that I know as an animal he is incapable of having. I think most of us do that to some degree - others to a much greater degree. I will also admit that I do not love other dogs. I like them, but I don't love them. That feeling is reserved only for MY dog because I have totally bonded with him and I do consider him part of my family.
I do however find it disconcerting that so many make reference to the fact that they prefer dogs to people. I think that is a little sad. If we would show as much passion and respect for our fellow humans as we do for our dogs and make a much effort in understanding and knowing them, we would definately live richer lives and live in a much kinder world.

I love people very much. I love dogs very much. Those of both species that are entrusted into my care are well cared for, and appropriately so. [;)] The opposite of anthromorphization is not callousness.

Think of it this way:  Hurricane JOSE hits and youre stuck in your attic with your kids and your dog. Which do you kill to feed the others? Of course its a stupid question because a dog is not a person.

Not a stupid question at all.  Which of my kids?

Jartzh, how nice of you to come along and use our knowledge to your benefit.  God, help any of the creatures you own or come in contact with.  You might be the type who would like to torture an animal for the sake of your own twistedness or to take its life for your own joy.  It sounds like you have no compassion for anything other then yourself.

None of the above. You (generic you) have known the storm was coming for four days. Because you have a responsiblity to care for your children and your animals, you plan ahead and either put yourself et. al OUT of the storm's path - or have provisions so that such a scenario doesn't happen.

I think we all knew that.  Although you might not need to possess compassion to be a vet, you do have to have a certain degree of intelligence.

    Thanks for playing.

You know, they say that 1 in 20 people is a sociopath. I get more and more anecdotal evidence to back up that statistic every day. [8|]

I wanted a site where I could get a rational answer to a real physical problem and I dont think thats possible from a person fretting over Fifi not liking the color of the new throw on my bed.

    I need real solutions:
a: this is not a problem
b: it might be a problem so try this...
c: this needs to be looked at by a vet
d: put the poor dog out of her misery

And you will get answers if you ask the question.  But you started this thread with an inflammatory post and expect people to not post their opinions?

... fretting over Fifi not liking the color of the new throw on my bed....

In my opinion, if a dog doesn't like the color of the new throw, it's because the poor thing has been spending too much time with some body who has nothing better to do than come to a forum and be a troll......
In which case, the best option would be to have it rehomed or humanely put down to save it from the suffering and torture of life with a troll.

Edited: my post could have been seen as a direct personal attack [:)]

You don't put a dog down because they lost a tooth.

As for the other things you said, you must not be on the same board I am.[8|]
