Some people don't have a clue about dog breeds

I love this tread it cracks me up!!!!!

I#%92ve had people tell me that my Siberian Husky was a Beautiful GSD . Poor babydoo she has been called everything from wolf mix, coyote and now GSD.  I wonder what people will think of my  little GSD sky  LOL

In case anyone hasn't noticed, I am a nut for Siberian Huskies. The first time I was at the Sherman Animal Shelter, they had a dog labeled as a "mix" I think they were trying to lean towards white GSD. I, OTOH, could immediately spot some of the tell-tale marks of Siberian. I talked with one of the workers and pointed it out to him. He said, yeah, but the fur is not quite right.

    Oy vey...

I get it every day with my boys. I always get GSD/lab cross with Kaiser...when i say that he's purebred, some people like to inform me that gsds are only black and tan. People have also been telling me a lot lately that kaiser is the biggest dog they've ever seen (he weighs 86 lbs). More people can identify Wyatt because of his ridge, but i frequently get either a pit bull or redbone coonhound that has his hair spiked. The best was the other day when a lady asked me if KAISER was a doberman??

Forgot another one for Blue. When we adopted him he was listed as a corgi mix due to his large ears.

Cant you see the corgi him.[sm=rofl.gif]

My sister had a lady ARGUE with her that her dog is a full breed lab.. "just look at that otter tail and those ears!"... even after my sis told her "I know BOTH of his parents... his mother was a lab, but his father is a chow/dauchsund mix!" (Yeah... chow'dauchsund... ever seen a chow with legs about five inches long? ROTFL!! He was something else!) But anyway, that woomand kept telling her she must be mistaking because that dog was FULL lab... you could tell.....

I have this conversation almost daily with random people:

Person: What kind of dog is that?
    Me: It's a dachshund.
Person: Oh {in a disapointed tone}, I thought it was a weiner dog.

    Oh Lordy!!! ROFLMAO!!!!

Maddi's been called a Siberian (which I can understand... very few people say "Hey, is that a malamute?" but it does happen), a wolf or wolfX , Collie, GSD, and a Norwegian Elkhound. Fortunately, no one has argued with me about her breed... if they did, I think I'd say "Yup... I'm lying, she's a pug."

I feel better seeing how many of you get argued with about their dogs' breeds by strangers. I would never go up to someone and try to convince them their dog was a different breed. People can be very dumb but you have to laugh at some of the things. I myself did not know a "weiner dog" was a breed. Ha!

Who was it who posted they took their goat into petsmart and had people asking "what breed of dog is that?"

Tell me that didnt really happen!! [sm=blush.gif]

I havent had any really strange breed guesses, Lizzie in unconfusable thanks to "Lassie". But I always get people who say "Is that a Lassie?" "Is she the big Lassie or the little Lassie?" "Do you plan on breeding her?"

Since when is Lassie a breed?

There are some people who ask "what breed is that?" and when I say Collie people look at me funny and I have to supply "Lassie dog" so I guess Im partly responsible for their stupidity!

My Shari was a Siberian/Samoyed cross and 99% of people over the years would say she was a beautiful malamute.

I think he's one of the new, miniature versions of those![sm=lol.gif]

He looks exactly like a Corgi! You posted something about that in another thread this week, so I was going to ask you for pictures of Blue as a puppy. He is absolutely adorable!!

Joey has been called everything in the book but I think the funniest was Great Dane.  My boy, full grown of course, is a whopping 38 pounds at his heaviest, about 15 inches at his shoulder.  I guess he looks bigger in pictures?
