2006 MS WALK

    • Gold Top Dog
    Bump....again.

It's almost MAY guys, time is running out and I really WANT to make my goal.  This is going to HELP so many people......
    • Gold Top Dog
    When is the walk?
How much have you raised and what is your goal again?
    • Gold Top Dog
The walk is June 24th.  My goal this year is $1500 and to date I have....$350 in my hot little hand that doesn't show up on the website, and an additional $840 on the website, for a grand total to date of....drumroll please...$1190!!!  Just $310 to go!

For those who don't know, MS strikes mostly young women in their prime.  This is a nuero-muscular disease that can literally have a sufferer fine one day and totally bedridden the next.  The remitting/recurring form is probably the "easiest" to live with, but the recurrances often strike with NO warning, and every recurrance damages more nerve endings and leaves the sufferer with that much LESS day to day function.

New medications are being tested.....a statin, typically used for BP control that can be taken orally, even an antidepressent.   Many drugs do have a secondary "use"...think minoxidol which became Rogaine, and yep, they still use it for BP, albeit with the warning that it may cause undesired hair growth!  The beauty of these "new" drugs is that they can be taken orally.  ALL the existing MS drugs require daily injections.

Every dollar helps.  Every step that I walk HELPS.  And someday, MS might just be a bad memory.  Someday, hopefully soon, we'll have a cure.

Stephanie, thank you for your pledge!

Come on guys....I need your help to get there.  Soooo close, and yet so far.

I walk for the thousands of people who can no longer walk.  I walk for the Mothers who wake up one day unable to hold their children, for the dog owners who somedays can't walk their dogs, or even brush them, for those people who have been so devasted by this horrid disease that even when they are remitting the nerve damage is soooo great that they can't have any kind of a normal life.  And for the pain that lingers from that nerve damage.  Imagine having nerves that look like frayed electrical wires....that short and spark at will.  THIS is what nerve damage is like.....and this is what MS sufferers live with.

I don't accept the "prizes" that come with various levels of fundraising.  Those are "left" with the MS Society so that the cost goes back into the organization.  I won't accept my Gold Club sweatshirt this year...first time that I've earned one...but that too will go back.  The cost of these things is part of my donation.

So guys??  If I've sent you my recipe, (which I DID pay for), if I've given you advice, offered a shoulder to cry on, offered a prayer, good thots, or even disagreed with something you posted in a way that maybe made you THINK about your position......if I've helped you in anyway over the years, please HELP me to help those that suffer from MS.  $5, $10, $100....whatever you are comfortable giving, it all HELPS.  You can pledge through my MS website, or you can send a check or money order made out to the National MS Society.  PM me for my address if you dont want to donate online.

I've only got about a month left to raise $300.  With ALL the idoggers, that should be an easy goal to reach.  I need your help.

Well, ok, no body is even READING this....so my dogs challenge YOUR dogs to donate their treat money for one week!
    • Gold Top Dog
I'm reading Glenda.........I look at it everytime to see if you hit your goal or not.  Sorry you have not gotten to it  yet.  I am going to be walking in the diabetes walk in Sept, so I know that I will be where you are very soon.  My mom, me and my son all have it so we need to find a cure.

You keep on walking girl.  How much more to make your goal?

I need another $300.  And I'm glad someone is at least reading!! [:D]

Come on guys....I need your HELP!!!  I only need $300 to make my goal and ya'll know me well enough to know I'm not gonna give up on this.  Please don't make me start another thread BEGGING for help and incur the wrath of Joel for spreading my plea all over the forum.

THREE HUNDRED BUCKS!! That's nothing to raise.

Are you lucky enough not to know anyone who is touched by this horrible condition?  You only think that you are.  We have an idogger with PROGESSIVE MS. So each and every one of you actually "know" someone  who is a victim of this insidious condition.

87 cents of every dollar raised goes to directly help MS sufferers in one way or another.  Much goes to patient care, providing meds, providing wheelchairs, ramps, ACCESS, homecare, etc.  And yes, money goes to RESEARCH because without research there can not be a cure.  And that cure is coming.....it's recently been found that one particular antidepressent HELPS.  Lots of meds have secondary usages.....just like the BP med minoxidil had the side effect of unwanted hair growth and WALA, we have ROGAIN!  This is HUGE because this is a pill that can be taken orally.  Right now, MS meds have to be injected.  Yep, much like insulin, each and every day these folks have to jab a needle in their hip or arm or thigh to administer the medicine that helps to keep them functioning on some level.

MS attacks and destroys the nerves.  We CAN help end this disease.  We CAN help CURE this disease.  $5 will help.  Can you give up ONE latte?  Just one little "extra" treat to help others?

    Please?
    • Gold Top Dog
I'll add my plea to yours!

Come on everyone - if 60 people will send $5.00 each that will take Glenda to her goal!  You spend that at Starbucks!   Every little bit counts - I wasn't able to send much but I know my $15 is going to a good cause (although a selfish one since my DH and DD have CMT and hopefully will benefit from the MS research!)

PLease help Glenda - by doing so you will be helping millions of people - what a great investment in the future!

Good luck Glenda and thank you for doing this [:)]

    Thank you Paula.

Guys, less than $300 to raise now.  There are a LOT of idoggers out there......$5 or $10 isn't a lot to give up and that money will HELP so many people.

If you can spare a little, please donate.
    • Gold Top Dog
