2006 MS WALK

    • Gold Top Dog
Thanks for the bump!  The MS Walk is in June, but I really want to reach this lofty goal good and early!  If the site won't work for you, you can always send me a check made out to the National MS Society.  Just PM me for my mailing address.

Thank you for considering donating.  This is a cause near and dear to my heart and I have no shame begging when it comes to this!  When I say that I walk for those who cannot, I truely mean it.   My sister is 58....she was diagnosed in 2001, two weeks after running the Chicago Marathon.  For sis, her physical condition and her attitude, not to mention the meds that run $1500 per month, have made all the difference in the world.  But there are soooo many people afflicted with this horrible disease who literally don't know when they go to bed at nite if the will be ABLE to get out of it the next morning.  The remitting/recurring form of MS is probably one of the cruelest.....because good days can suddenly become crippling days. And the nuerological damage that is done during an "episode" can't be undone.  With Sis, it seems to attack mostly in one eye...her vision keeps getting worse and worse....but, it also attacks a nerve cluster in her back and those episodes would keep most people, who aren't in her physical condition, in bed.  They are soooo close to finding a cure...they say a cure is within our lifetimes, and since I'm getting kind of old, well, I'd like to be sure it's during MINE!

Thanks too for giving me another chance to get on my soapbox!!

I received a check yesterday from someone who was almost ashamed to send it because it wasn't a huge amount.

Folks ever single DOLLAR helps.  If you can't afford much and that's what's holding you back, well, remember that every journey begins with a single step and that in this fight, every dollar raised HELPS someone to take that journey.  Wanna know my thought when I read the note?  God bless you for caring enough to do what you CAN do.

So give up ONE double latte, give up 10 of them...whatever your comfort level.  But please help me reach my goal.  Remember, I walk so that others might.

Thank you Julie, Slyvia and Nadine.

    I'm at $1110 now.....getting ever closer.

$5 guys....or $10 or whatever you can afford.   Any amount will make a BIG difference in this fight.

BUMP!!  We are sooooo close.  Please help if you are able to.  There must still be a few of you out there who I sent the recipe to......
    • Gold Top Dog
Glenda, are you going to have time to walk with your move so close?  I'm sure your response will be heck yes, but I was just wondering if you're going to have the energy?  You've gotta take care of yourself, too, ya' know!
    • Gold Top Dog
Oh heck ya!!  We're moving around May 22 and the walk isn't until the last Saturday of June, so yeah, I'll have plenty of energy by then!

Tiffany, thank you for your pledge!

Hi Glenda.  I just sponsored you.  Best of luck reaching your goal!

P.S. I'd be interested in seeing your recipe!  But just for the record, this pledge is separate from that...I'm sponsoring to support your cause, not to pay for the recipe!  (What, exactly, is the recipe for?  You've got me curious with your reference to sending out 150 copies of it!  I assume it's something dog-related?)

    Cheers,
    R

    Thank you!

I actually don't "charge" for the recipe, I just ask people I send it to to consider a donatation and I'm not above reminding anyone how much their dogs love them because of that recipe! I"m shameless when it comes to my causes!

Yes, the recipe is for homecooked dog food. and I'll be happy to send it to you.  Just please send me an EMAIL with your email addy.

I have kept my promise and sponsored you again!  Wish it were more but every cent makes a difference.  And thank you for the recipe!  And most importantly, thank you for walking and for all the other things you do for other people!

I am curious though, the website said you only have $815....is it not updating with the checks you receive?  I thought you had more.  If that is not the case, we need to get more idoggers on board so hopefully the bump will help!
    • Gold Top Dog
Thank you!  No, the checks I have here won't update into the total...they'll show up later as MY donation.  NEXT year I'll be able to add everyone.  I'm at $1215 now!!  Getting ever closer!!

If any of you works for a company that will match your donation......Jan Ruggles did that last year and effectively doubled her donation cuz the company matched hers......check with your bosses and see.

My sister has a phenominal attitude, and she's an athlete. She ran the Chicago marathon a couple weeks before her diagnosis and had HAD MS for at least 10 years before that.  She is blessed that her insurances pays for her daily injections...many won't.  DH's boss's wife had a dreadful recurance not long ago...so bad that she was bedridden and couldn't even fed herself....so bad that HE took the week off to take care of her.  The week before the recurance, she was painting the livingroom and hanging new curtains.

This is a horrible, horrible condition because it truely strikes people in the prime of life, and more women than men.  With the remitting/recurring type, someone can be FINE, healthy and active one day and wake up the next literally unable to get out of bed.  And every recurrance causes more nerve damage, so while it remits, the nerve damage sticks around and renders that person less and less able to do what they used to do.

They say that a cure is within our lifetime.  I want it within MY lifetime....and since I'm getting old, well, lets everyone DIG a little!!

Glenda I just did an e-pledge to you ... I don't know if it shows up on the site or not, but wanted to let you know.  Good luck and thanks for doing all you do to help others.
    • Gold Top Dog
