Remeber Joel

Not to go OT here, but the opening of this thread was about people that haven't been heard from for awhile ... and it got me to wondering ... has anybody heard from Shannon?  The last time she posted (maybe a couple of months ago) she shared a really horrible ordeal she was going through, and then she just dropped off the board. I find myself thinking about her and her family and wondering if they're all OK, but I don't feel like I know her well enough to pm or e-mail her and ask.

Yes, there were some folks who stalked and deliberately goaded Joel, and those folks are no longer here either.  BUT, the bottom line is that  everyone gets the same number of strikes, the same number of warnings, and in Joels case, I suspect he got some extra, unofficial warnings.
 
Jaime is not and should not be the babysitter.  We are all adults and we need to all ACT like adults.

Joyce, why not PM her?  Not exactly an invasion of privacy, to PM someone.  That being said, I am not sure the PM function is working.  I have PM'd Terri a couple of times.  No answer and my messages do not show up in my sent folder.  Strange.

Lord have Mercy. I have been gone for a few days because we had bad storms that knocked out our power. I come back and see this thread and it was like deja vu. I could've sworn we discussed this one a few months back. Anyhoo, let me say that I don't "hate" anyone on here. It's hard to hate someone you've never met. When it comes to Joel, I never found him humorous and I have a vile and perverse sense of humor. You can't even compare Billy's humor to Joel's humor because Billy is actually funny and unlike Joel, Billy knows when enough is enough. If I recall correctly, Gina may be referring to when Joel posted a picture of the Rodney King beating and said something totally wrong. I think one of the "best" times was when Joel claimed he had no idea that the word "f*g" was a derogatory word for a gay male. Come on now. Unless you live in England where that word is a slang for a cigarette or if you've been living under a rock for the last 100 years, I can't buy that you didn't know that was a slur. With that said, I'm not sad to see him gone.
 
Betsy is in a league of her own. I have known Betsy when she was on the Acmepet boards. I'm not playing when I say if I murder someone and I need a lawyer, I'm giving her a call because with her debating skills, I'd go home in a day. As with every other board she's been booted off of, it's because she didn't know when to leave well enough alone too.
 
In the end, virtually all boards have rules and they apply to everyone. Luckily some boards give you 3 strikes before you're out and if you're dumb enough to go for 4 strikes then you deserve to have your silly butt banned.

Excuse me for taking this thread briefly OT, but since I apparently can't PM you, you mentioned that your husband is a fan of WWII General Patton.  I have recently read one of the best biographies on him ever written, IMO, and I was asking your permission to send your DH a copy.  It is called, "Patton - A Genius for War."  I know your husband is serving in Iraq.  I appreciate his service and your sacrifice and, if it is okay with you, I would very much like to send him a copy.

billy, you mentioned that the "dora the roach" thing was funny...i just went into the archives and searched for it...that was hysterical....i didn't see anything that should be offensive...just satire...unfortunately, he didn't seem to have enough class to just keep quiet when some people started to attack him...
