Monday Chat and Vibes Needed

I forgot to send good vibes to your sister, Lisa.  I haven't heard of that disease.  It sounds scary.  I hope she's responding to meds and is better soon (for her sake, and for yours, too!).

I understand how if feels to be in the situation you described.  My sister told me of her impending divorce long before she told our mother, and it was a very difficult position to be in -- trying not to say the wrong thing, not answering questions 100% truthfully if my Mom asked me something, etc.  There was good reason for the delay in telling her, and it all worked out for the best, but it was stressful for several weeks.

I think Lisa's sister has MRSA. That's the antibiotic resistant infections that can do so much damage and are so contagious. If I'm wrong Lisa, I apologize.

I love my vet's office and the vet we saw today is my all time favorite and Shane adored her too. She was sitting on the floor after looking at his ears and he just laid there with his head in her lap. She agreed that his ears look totally clean but saw the redness around the outer edges and a few scratches inside, so sent us home with Panolog. It was the least expensive vet visit I've ever had.

That is exactly correct Cathy. Very scary stuff. Just got back from seeing her and she can now at least open her eye. Hopefully they found the right antibiotic. She is in good spirits and decided to tell my parents since it looks like she's going to be there for about a week. I was there when her doc was there and he was happy with her progress so that's good. Thanks for all the vibes everyone. Good vibes for all the sore doggie ears!!!

Glad to see the hopeful update on your sister, Lisa.  I hope they've found the right antibiotic and it kicks that crap in the butt.  I had to google Mercer disease this morning as I'd never heard of it and found the same info as Cathy so knew it was serious.  I know it must be super scary for all of you and will continue to send lots of healing vibes.  I'm so glad she's told the parents so you don't have that on you anymore.

We lost power for about 2 hours, and shockingly, it actually came back on. I slept through most of that. When I called to report it, it said it would be on by 10:30, but we really didn't expect repair crews to get out today. We've got it for now, but we're waiting for it to go back out.

Sending out safe storm vibes and good health vibes to all who need them!

I have family and friends in MA who should be OK other than wind or power loss...one friend on the Cape seems OK for now.  I have a nephew in Nantucket, though, and DH's nephew and his son are very close to Chesapeake Bay in MD, not far from where this monster storm will make landfall.   I know his house is on a good hill, so he is probably safe from the storm surge, but still....

Power has been out here since 4, but we're all OK. The winds are still at it, and the shore line is flooded beyond anything I've ever seen. Sinbad is worried his meals won't be served on time. Mozey hates wind. I have my oil lamps going and the flashlights at the ready.

You are in my thoughts and prayers, Kate.  Stay safe!

We're still on,  but it keeps flickering. The big news story, in addition to the storm, is whether one weather person called the other a moron.

    Decide for yourselves

The woman and the network claim she said, "do you want mine on?"

Not that it's a big deal, but it's more entertaining than the storm coverage.

Hmmmmm . . . after one listen, I think she said "moron."  I'd have to listen to it a few more times to be sure.  If she did, yikes!!

Kate, I'm imagining you curled up with Sinbad and Mozey, with oil lamps making a nice glow, reading a book in your hand, drinking a cup of tea.  I'm sure readying yourself for what sounds like a frightening storm is nothing like that peaceful scene in my head, but I hope you're feeling as safe and comfortable as possible!

Glad your sister seems to be doing better, Lisa.  I have heard of MRSA (I know someone who had a nasty battle with it).  I'd never heard it referred to as Mercer disease -- I didn't realize that was the same thing.  I hope her body rids itself of all the bad bugs ASAP!

My Mom called about 2:45 and said she'd lost power and her landline phone.  Her cell phone should last a while, but she'll stay off it to save the charge.  She said the wind is really scary -- and to think it hasn't even hit land yet!

Batten (is that a real word?) Down the hatches everyone! They have even shut down boating on the great lakes. Craziness. As much as I hate our winters it is good to be inland and in a non hurricane, non earthquake, and mostly non tornado type of state sometimes.

Lisa, I am thinking about your sis. I have mixed feelings about the telling or not telling of illness. Mostly I accept it for what it is, the individuals right to privacy and choice, but it doesn't make it easy on anyone even if they think it does.

I expected today a fairly draggy monday after a lack of sleep weekend, but had a phone call 5 mins after I walked in my office that made for an exciting day. You just never know how a day at my job might end up. I love it.

Other than that, I am chilling out with the fuzz buckets watching Dexter, resisting the urge to do some dog training. We all need a break but the dogs seem so bored.

Power is out now. I was just about to put on a movie because we were getting tired of the hurricane coverage, and we don't have the cable that would let us see the other regular stuff.

I didn't hear moron when I heard the original broadcast. I heard what they claim she said. When I watched that, I definitely heard moron, but I was listening for it. If she did call him a moron, I wouldn't disagree with her. He's good looking, but he I agree that he is a moron for different reasons. They've been having issues all day with systems though.

The winds have died down a lot. Still no power but I expect it will be out for a couple days. Hope everyone is safe. Sandy has certainly made her presence known, and Mother Nature is definitely in charge!

Kate, I'm so glad things have calmed a little where you are.  The storm is incredible and frightening. I feel so terrible to think of the damage and potential losses to so many people.  Sending stay safe vibes for everyone affected.
