Monday Chat and Vibes Needed

My oldest sister was admitted to the hospital yesterday with what they think is Mercer Disease. She is prone to abscesses and has had a couple this year (stomach and arm pit). Well, I guess she went to the hospital yesterday with one on her face. Her face literally looks like a balloon with her eyes almost swollen shot. Thank god they decided to keep her and give her antibiotics there because they realized they were not working at all.

They have now called in a diseases specialist and late last night they started her on something else with the hopes of it working. If you could send her some get well vibes, that would be much appreciated. Much to my frustration, she won't tell my parents what is going on. She doesn't want to worry them. She has some illusion that once they get the swelling to go down she's in the clear and doesn't want to worry them - URGHHH!!

Here's a pic of her standing behind my Mom last easter. She doesn't have any kids, so she thinks it's no big deal not to tell them. If Riley did something like that to me, I'd kill her.

Lisa, I'm sending tons and tons of good vibes for your sister. I hope they can get this under control soon and I'm glad they've called in a specialist. Sorry you've got the pressure of keeping quiet about this to your parents because she doesn't want them to worry. I hate being put in that position about something serious like this. It makes you feel torn up in addition to worried sick. (((hugs)))

Exactly!! I told her that I will tell them if she gets a fever because at that point they HAVE to know. My dad stopped by last night and I couldn't even look him in the eye. They won't be mad at me because they always stressed the importance of confiding in each other without the worry of us ratting each other out. I guess they felt/feel that its better that "someone" in the family knows and will know when to escalate - and the system has always worked before. I am just praying that the swelling has gone down this morning and that the antibiotic they gave her last night worked! I feel so bad because she's in a lot of pain. Her boyfriend is also being a complete dolt which doesn't help in the matter.

Lisa, I hope your sister is okay.

Nothing too bad on the weather front here yet. I'm planning right now to cough medicine my way through it. I guess even if I were allowed out, it wouldn't matter because they wouldn't give me my allergy shots when I'm still coughing up crap anyway. It should get nasty here soon enough.

Oh Lisa! Best vibes and prayers that your sister is OK! My family is the same, no one tells anyone what is really going on healthwise, it's stressful all the time. Lots of bugs to you & for her.

I am terribly stressed about the storm, I felt bad leaving my mom, but my brother & wife (+daughter & 2 dogs) will be there as they live in a mandatory evacuation zone. My mom's house is tiny so it's best I left, it will be hard enough for all them to be there, nevermind if they lose power!

It was incredible to see all the preparation that was going on which started with earnest on Friday. I pray they are wrong about the impact

Try not to worry Karen and don't feel bad. With those many people in the house, it is probably for the best. All the news about the storm is crazy. I hope they are wrong!

Anyway Auntie Deb W. gave Bugsy a new toy Big Smile He kept nosing at my suitcase so I opened it and he rifled through my clothes and found it!

It's windy here--the worst of the wind is supposed to be between noon and 9 pm. I now need to convince Mozey that she can actually go potty.

Karen, I'm glad you're home safely, though I can only imagine how worried you are about the rest of your family. Bugsy, you're the lucky boy! Auntie Deb W is the best!

Hope everyone in Sandy's path is OK.

I hope everything is OK!! For those in the storm's path, check in via cell text as much as you can. I just found out my brother is in CT for business - he of course is totally pumped for the storm - he also jumps out of airplanes for fun though.

I was amazed to learn that the cost of 2 pillowcases if purchased a la carte can cost as much as a sheet set. Huh?

The Tigers blew chunks. Glad the Lions won - I think the coach is H.O.T.

Honestly, when I was in the hospital, Sis is the one who decided Mom shouldn't know. And I left it for her to decide because she is the one who has to deal with the fallout of Mom's freaking out over maybe nothing. But, it's tough for you to be in that situation.

So, per the Gov. I have an unexpected day off. We are all the way in the Western part of the state, about 40 minutes from Albany and anything that happens here won't happen until tonite or tomorrow, but, the boss is freaked and the Gov wants everyone non-essential to hunker down. Not real sure he meant HERE, but, again, the boss is freaking. I have ad copy to pick up today, so phooey on not working. Not giving up my ads for a little wind that's not even going to show up until after close of business.

I'm honestly very glad that people are taking this storm seriously. I did all the prep for the storm stuff myself, but it seems like there are some over reactions at this point. Hope I'm not wrong

I agree! Bugsy looked like he was really loving his wabbit. :) Karen, sending lots of good vibes for your family to be safe and for Kate and everyone else in the path of this storm. Mozey, you've got to go out even though it's nasty outside.

I feel sort of guilty to be enjoying our nice weather but I am. :) Blue skies, cool temps in the morning and warming to the high 60's later. Those in the bad weather should head on down and bring all the dogs. :)

Deb, call anytime. I never consider a call from you as anything but good. Hope the ear patch is holding. Kisses to Jamison if he'll let you get that close. lol
