Hey, you know I've learned the joys of layering.  Of course, bending arms and legs isn't easy, but, the only part of me that gets cold now is my face.

Just came in from shoveling the dogs a spot to "go".  I'm sure that the neighbors think I'm nuts shoveling the backyard, but, oh well.

Need to gear up and head to the pharmacy now.  DS has been out for calls in this flipping weather.  State of emergency, people asked to stay off the roads and folks are out in it, needing road service.  They've called it off now, but it was in full force when he had to go out.

I suppose that a bra is going to be a must for going out.  Dang it.  It's actually warmer without one, but.....

Julie, isn't your sinus surgery tomorrow?

Snow has stopped here and the sun actually came out for a bit. Just came in from walking Sinbad--found our elderly neighbor out shoveling in her house shoes but no socks on! (She did have a coat, hat and gloves on.) Got Sinbad home, grabbed my shovel and went and finished for her. Not that she's going any where, but she wanted her walk cleared. I told her to call me when she wanted her car shoveled out. I'll go work on it tomorrow.  doG knows we don't want to have to run a rescue in this weather--the bay is really rough right now!  (Rescue here=ambulance to the emergency dock, pickup by the little, not-warm-at-all police boat that holds one stretcher and 2 or 3 crew members, ride across the bay, then unload into an ambulance on the mainland. It's not bad at all except in crappy weather.)

I invited 30+ people for brunch on new year's eve morning...me, the person who NEVER has anyone over. Literally never. So, I need to get busy and get stuff put away and get the place cleaned up.

Here too Kate, and lots of beautiful sunshine on these mountains of snow!  It looks absolutely beautiful.

Julie, isn't your sinus surgery tomorrow?

yes, I'm trying not to go in to panic mode and am repeating to myself "stay calm, it'll be fine". I mean, the pain can't be that much worse than what I'm already experiencing, right?

    • Gold Top Dog

Will keep good thots for you tomorrow Julie.  Even if it is painful, there is an end to that pain, where without the surgery, endless agoney......

Thanks Glenda and you are right. I can't wait to go a full week without a headache. It'll be bliss. Just gotta get through tomorrow and the next 7 days or so

I've not had the surgery, but I'd guess at this point, almost anything would be better.

Sending good vibes for your surgery and recovery.  I hope you've got help with the dogs, too.

I have a friend who has 3 aussies of her own who will be helping me out tomorrow - getting me to and from the hospital and so forth. So, my dogs will be in good hands and they are very familiar with her. Then my mom is spending the night for a day or so. She's not a dog person but I'm sure she can handle it (heh, I hope so anyway). After that I should be fine, I think.

I am kind of worried how my dogs will react. They are used to sleeping on and with me so we'll see how they do. Hopefully they will be like most dogs and realize that I'm hurting and be gentle.

If you get pain meds, take them AS ordered, and not when the pain gets intense...you want to stay ahead of the pain, so just take the things.  And keep marking the days off on your calender...X number of days 'til the pain is forever gone!

    • Gold Top Dog

good idea. I can't really take major pain meds though. That's why I hate having surgery so much. I get sick off the real pain killers. I can really only take stuff like Tylenol and ibuprophen. I'll try to deal though. I apologize in advance if I post things that are full of negativity for the next few days lol.

We'll cut you some slack!  I'm sorry that you can't take the good stuff, but, do what you can, and do it on a set schedule, not just when it hurts.

And although the Rx may not say so, take WITH food.  Even a couple of crackers will do.  Having food in your stomach helps with the nausea that narcotic pain meds can cause.  And each one is different.  I don't do well on Percocet.  But the Dilaudid I took for my hip replacement worked very well.

    Good luck tomorrow!
