I've got it all counted and boxed up. There are about 250 items. Most of it is in nice shape, some of it has been worn by a few kids and is more worn. It's a lot of Carter's brand. I think I'll ask for $50.

I think that is more than a fair price!

I just got a message on FB saying that my village is flooding bad. The water is in the houses, and the houses in Kingcome are all at least 6 feet off the ground on stilts, so, that's bad. I'm really worried about my family and my home, so if anyone could spare a "Dry Up Vibe" I would really appreciate it.

Candace!  When I started reading your post, I initially thought it was a game you were playing on FB.  But, you aren't joking, are you?  I am so sorry....yes, plenty of dry up vibes.  Please let us know about your family and home.

No Barb, definitely not joking. Everyone has been moved to the school up there and are awaiting the decision to try and get everyone out of the village via helicopters if it gets much worse. But its bad. Really bad. They currently have a phone line still up into the school, but that's it. So we can't call in to see if they are ok. That's the worst part. We can't tie up that line. Kingcome is secluded. You can't drive there. You can fly or take a boat, and since the planes are water planes, that's not an option right now. Two of my uncles drowned on that river 11 years ago, when it was flooding. Both of them very experienced boatmen. And it wasn't flooding nearly as bad as it is now. Getting kids and elders down to the plane dock isn't an option I don't think. But I don't know for sure. All I know is that my family that is not currently in Kingcome is buzzing about it on FB, looking for support from each other, so I know its bad. Flooding isn't unusual up there. It happens once or twice a year. The houses are built for it. Heck, Rubber Boots are called Kingcome Slippers by everyone I know...But this is scary.

ETA: I think they're evacuating now...

Candace - I'm so sorry about the flooding and hope that your family is safe and there's no serious damage. Let us know when you hear something.

Sending stay safe vibes for your family and the other people in harm's way, Candace.  I know you're worried sick.  (((hugs)))

Our plans are messed up due to rain showers.  We decided to skip the BBQ cookoff and we're trying to decide if the Gardens by Moonlight will be rained out.

Candace, I know all about floods (my parents house was partially destroyed in the "no name storm" aka: the perfect storm). Sending DRY vibes your way!

We had a great training class with Apollo today- we got so much out of it. And, I got to meet someone super special (a fellow idogger)!

Oh goodness Candace, this is awful.  Continued thoughts and prayers to your family and others there.

Nicole, I got the Garmin Nuvi 1200 which was $119.00.  This one was at the bottom of the line pricewise.  This will be so great, I really need a navigation system when traveling.  I had GPS on my phone, but my company blocked the function for everybody.  Grrr.

    That sounds nice...Gardens by Moonlight.

From what I've read, they are waiting on military helicopters to evacuate. My Aunti Glo, who is the oldest of my mom's sisters now, says that this is the worst she's ever seen it. I'm just shaking, I feel so helpless. My mom has 9 brothers and sisters left. 5 of which live in Kingcome. I have 52 first cousins ranging in age from about 16 to 55 or so. Probably 20 of them live there, plus lots of their kids and kid's kids. And then there are other relatives up there too, more distantly related, but really the whole village of 150ish people are related to me in some way or another, lots of them very close to my heart. I saw floods when I lived there, some were waist high, most were just below tall rubber boots if you walked in the right places. It was fun to take out the canoes and paddle up and down the roads. The dogs come up on the porches, and the cats move onto the roofs to wait out the water. But this...I don't know.

Sorry, I keep posting about this, but I'm super stressed, and i know you guys understand the need to keep yapping once in a while.

Latest update: They are waiting on tide reports. IF the tide is on its way out, they will be ok and the water should recede soon. IF its on its way in, the village could very well be wiped out. Its raining like heck up there, the glacier is melting fast and the river is rushing something fierce. Right now, it all depends on the turn of the tides, literally. Military Choppers are standing by, and should begin evacuation within the hour regardless. Most of the older houses on the south end have already lost their porches. These porches have some 15+ stairs at least, as the houses down that end are higher.

I woke up today thinking about l.michele and her wedding. I hope that it went great!

Used tired - yes, there's nothing wrong with used tires. a lot of cars are totaled out with brand new tires on them still. I have purchased used tires from a scrap yard before. You can save a lot of money that way.

Flooding - i hope everything works out. that sounds a bit scary!

unbelievably, I'm feeling worse today. I'm starting to feel sorry for my dogs though so I might try to take them to the park tomorrow

ETA: I'm so sick of watching TV! That is all I have done this week is sleep and watch TV. I want to poke my eye out if I see another commercial for "going to college in my PJ's!"
