I came years ago for the dogs but stayed for Amanda's, Tina's and Jackie's abuse.Big Smile

Deb, I am categorically denying any accusations of abuse.  I seem to remember that a couple weeks ago you wanted to make out with me. Stick out tongue

*cough sympathy cook cough-*. There should be a very BIG smiley right here but I cant make them work from my phone!

So that's what your brother's intent was, too, right?  The one who made the MILF comment?

I don't think his intentions involved sympahty at all.  His MILF comments seemed very genuine.

ROFLMAO!!!!  And this is just one of the reasons I love this place......

Absolutely agreed!  Years ago I checked out a couple of other forums - not specifically for dogs but pets in general.  I couldn't believe the way people talked to each other and the things they called each other.  There must have been no moderation at all.  It was like dealing with a group of 14 year olds with mouths and IQs to match. I don't think there's another forum out there like this one.

Tell him I said thanks!  It's nice to know that someone under the age of 60 noticed me - even if only in a picture when I was clearly not at my best.

ROFLMAO!!!!  And this is just one of the reasons I love this place......

Why?  Because Tina, Deb, & Jackie are sooo deeply disturbed, & because I try so very hard to keep them in line?

Oh my.  If we are going to depend on you to keep us in line, we're all in deep poo.

I've added a new abbreviation to my growing list.  MILF  I thought it had to do with mothers-in- law. Tongue Tied

Seriously, if I had found a forum like some of you have described, I probably would have never looked for any others.  This place is all I need in the way of forums.  I've learned and shared so much here that I can't imagine not having this place.  Thanks, dog.com for keeping this a place we can all enjoy.  We may get a bit silly sometimes but it's all in fun.

Well, I GUESS you guys are okay...................

Just kidding. I love this place. I am a member of several other forums, but none that even come close to what we have here. I am not really an "active" member of them, I'm just there because of specific breeds/species, but it always feels like everyone is a complete stranger. This forum really does feel like a community, and almost everyone here is like a friend, not just some stranger on the internet.

Most of my stories start with,"So I was talking with some friends on my forum..." Or,"Bevo( or Bugsy, or Willow, or Rupert....etc) is such a cool dog...oh he/she belongs to _______ from my forum, anyway..." In person, most people just roll their eyes at me. They're just jealous that they don't have you guys though. Stick out tongue

I only come here cause most ya all are GIRLS!!! hehe  I'm pretty disappointed that Amanda doesn't like us though!  :(

I honestly can't even remember how I stumbled on this forum....but I have stayed for many reasons.

I joined a yahoo group for feline renal failure.  That was a disaster.

You all are kind, supportive, generous in many ways, funny, honest.  I come here every day.  I come for the fun.  I come looking for answers.  I laugh at the funny pictures and stories, cry at the loss, worry over the problems and celebrate the victories.

    Thank you all !!

We DO have a few guys here, Johnny.   Very few, but.......

Candace, I know EXACTLY what you're saying.  I talk about forum "friends and family" and their critters more than I talk about anyone else!  It's gotten pretty bad with all of us living in the RV.....I'll say "oh, God, no" and DS immediately asks if another animal has gone to the Bridge!

I talk about you guys so often to my DH that now when I'm talking about someone and their dog(s) he says, "Ok, are these real people or internet people?" LMAO!

Tell him to behave or I will send my very REAL pug up there to KISS HIM UNTIL HE SUBMITS!!!! (ohhh that IS a threat, truly that is -- the power of the pug kisses ... better than a 2 x 4!!!!)

Want to add a serious comment tho --

I moderate another little board that's existed MANY years.  (like 13 that I've been on it).  It's now dwindled to almost nothing -- but it's still a gathering place for more than a few of us.  Long ago we exchanged emails -- and essentially used the board to just touch base.  folks from ALL over the world -- from New Zealand to SW Canada and all in between from west to east.

It's honestly all about the investment of time -- and the willingness to be a "friend".  I've seen incredible long-term friendships -- life changes -- good & bad things.  Out of the core group I've met 3 and several of these folks are among the best friends I've ever had. (Rita - that we got Tink from is one of them).

Things come and go -- some boards are popular for a "few minutes" and then wane.  This board has gone thru some DEEP changes -- some of them very difficult.  But the core group of folks kept the connection and cared.

And sometimes it's about taking the extra time to really communicate ... or to BE silly (and sometimes being silly just to encourage someone).  It's one of the wonderful things the Internet has done for us -- taking that extra bit of time -- to either understand someone's point of view (even if you DON'T agree) or whatever.

Things like the swaps done on here -- it's a big deal.

For someone who met their husband online, I can tell you -- when David and I were first evaluating this "L word" (ohh that was scarey) one of the first things was a huge desire to connect.  To just send each other a card.  It suddenly makes the internet "real" -- cos a real person put the stamp on it.

constructive ... rather than destructive.  it all comes down to choices.  and fun ...
