I noticed the bluebonnets starting to bloom last week when I drove to Austin to work....Spring has sprung.  We are thinking about taking the Harley for a ride tomorrow with our neighbor (and her mom) who wants to go on a "Bluebonnet" ride.  Big Smile

I'm still doing the Wii Active More.  I love it!  Although I've only lost 5 pounds...I feel toner.  That "game" is whipping my butt into shape.

This is the type I meant but the ones I remember were much more fancy and were more for a keepsake than eating. lol

Ah yes. Those weren't what I was thinking of, but I do remember them and I remember getting them a few times at Easter. As I said, I loved allllll candy, so I probably wasn't supposed to eat it but I remember that I did.Ick!Embarrassed

Karen, sorry you are itchy, itchy, itchy.  I love all things strawberry so I couldn't stand it if I were allergic to them.

the weird part is I am not allergic to strawberries - just some strawberry preserves, jam fruit spread things.  Ever since I was a kid it's been like that. Not a clue what the difference could be but would really prefer that my face and neck weren't so itchy right now

It is 90* - too hot too soon I say although better than floods and blizzards - well not the ice cream blizzards I love those

It doesn't feel like Friday to me - but very shortly we will be heading out for Friday night oysters and beer - cold beer sounds really, really good right now.

The pollen explosion has happened here.  We will all be as green as Kermit soon, I need to bring all the stuff in from the porch tomorrow morning, too lazy tonight.

OK have a great Friday evening all!

Easter egg hunts...I'm going to do one for my granddaughters, but it's a little different (in-laws did it this way, and we adopted it for our kids).  The baskets are prefilled and hidden somewhere.  I'll leave little notes instructing them on where to find the next note, and so on until the last one reveals the basket.  I found some cute cards to serve as the notes.  The girls are only 3 and 1 1/2, so they will need help at this point, but should be fun.  Their other grandparents hide the eggs, so this will be a bit different for them.

Oh Marty, that is so much fun!  I've done treasure hunts before just like this.  The girls loved it and was a blast watching them find each clue; then the grand finale of finding the baskets is a fantastic feeling!   Have a good time...I sure did!

Karen, it must be some difference in an ingredient or maybe the form of pectin used?  That's a bummer that you never know when a product will cause a reaction until it's too late.  Save the jars and compare ingredients?

I'm home from work but have zero motivation to do anything.  I was exercising with Charles for the first week but then I slacked off and now I always make an excuse of why I don't have time. :(  Bad me.  I KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt, that if I exercise I feel better.  Someone kick me in the butt. :)

I do have a plan for the weekend and it is mostly to garden. :)  I have a lot of plants to replace and a trip to the nursery is always fun. :)  The hard work comes when you get home with all the plants and dirt and stuff. lol  The time I spend in my garden is so relaxing to me. Watching the lizards, toads, insects and birds is my idea of a good time.  Don't tell Deb. lol

I'm hoping we go to the Farmer's Market tomorrow. That will be fun and we can replenish the spiced peach butter.  I am so addicted. it's not funny.  It's a peach spread and not made with butter at all but it's sooooo good on toast or on pancakes or on an english muffin, with pb.  It's spiced with cinnamon, cloves and allspice.  It's from a peach grower in the hill country north of here.  Peaches are a big crop there and we reap the bounty.  Maybe we can find some fresh veggies that Charles can eat.  He can't have any fresh veggies and nothing with much fiber even cooked. Green beans are getting old.  Suggestions welcome. :)  No beans, no onions, no peas, carrots ok, if they are cooked to death.  Deb, where's that recipe?

Sorry, I'm whining, aren't I?  Off to smell the roses. :)

    ROFL, I'll try.  I promise!

Janice, that's a great idea!  If anyone brings up the wardrobe malfunction, I'm totally saying it was April Fools.  Hahahaha.

I got the lawn mowed, so I gave myself permission to go see the local dog show put on by the American Hairless Terrier Association.

I got to see a CAO!  And pet him.  From their breed description, I expected a dog that was extremely drivey and ON.  He was sweet and passive.  I gave him some scritches.

I wanted to steal a blue dane pup that was there.  I'm really leaning toward raising one from a pup to get along with my tiny scrabblers in a couple years.  Maybe, maybe.  Or a rescue who is good with small dogs?  Oh, the dreaming I can do.

Also, I got to pet an American Hairless Terrier.  Who was very, very cool.

Picked up a tiny, light rope leash in teal for River.  I'll probably end up getting a purple one and a pink one tomorrow for the girls.

Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Oh, company... you give me such a good reason to clean, but make me so neurotic about it... just spent 30 minutes scrubbing the bathroom, so I sure hope our guests have to pee tonight! Don't want my work to go unrecognized!!

I did the same thing, because my sister's bf kept saying he wanted to see the upstairs (which is my room).  But he didn't go up there.  At least I got all the house cleaning done today during the day.  Means I have the weekend to do anything I want.

Does anyone ever buy those beautiful sugar eggs anymore?  The ones that are half hollow and all glittery sugar?  I'm probably the only one who knows what I'm talking about.

I think I remember those.  Didn't they used to be open on one end so you could look inside and see some pretty Easter scene?  I haven't seen them in a long time.  Step DGS is going to be 22 tomorrow so I took him, his friend, his brother and their mom out to lunch.  He wanted to go to the Putah Creek Cafe in Winters (about 15 miles west of me) where they have  the best chicken tortilla soup on the planet. It's cold, dark, rainy and windy.  I'm glad I don't have to go out anyplace else today.

This is the first time I've ever made it, and if it tastes anywhere near as good as it smells, we're gonna have a hard time waiting til Sunday to eat it!

Come on Heather, do I have to do all the thinking for ya?  Eat this hummingbird cake, & make a new one tomorrow! Wink

I had a great day.  After an early morning hike, DS#1 & I went to get our hair done.  Now, my oldest redhead has blonde tips.  He has been begging to get his hair tipped, so I told him that if he could make 97 or above in all of his classes I'd let him get it done, & I'd even pay for it.  I paid for it today, & let me just say that I will happily continue to pay for it if his grades stay high.  After getting our hair done, we went to eat & did a little shopping.  I don't get to spend enough time with the boys individually, so today was lots of fun.

i got some very sad and shocking news last night. One of my friends from school died in a car crash involving a train yesterday. Not sure what happened, he and a coworker were on their way home from work. One of those things that you never see coming, and it hits you hard. I feel numb, or that the past 24 hours never happened. Weird how we deal with grief, eh? I wasn't a close friend of his, but he definitely gave me amazing advice when I needed it.

Hope that wasn't sad and depressing- I just felt like venting. It feels good. You guys rock!

DH rode 50 miles on his bike today, without sunscreen......yea he's very lobster-like.  Poor guy went to bed already.

(((Laura)))  I'm so sorry about your friend.

    Oh, Laura, I'm sorry...

I have gotten some potentially bad news, but I have to wait to find out if it's accurate.  My very good friend who is stationed in AZ and is pregnant w/her second child got news that they see signs of Down's Syndrome and a heart condition (calcium deposit in the heart?).  She's only 13 weeks, so they have to wait until 16 weeks to do an amnio.  She has been struggling with this pregnancy - and her last child was another horror story in pregnancy troubles because of her kidneys where she (mom) almost died.

Meanwhile, Mayday's mom saw the van of a trainer we know at physical therapy.... and inside was a man with a blue Dobe with one leg amputated from osteosarcoma.... The trainer in question owns Gracie's blue brother, so I'm anxiously waiting for her to reply to my email if Cobalt is the one at physical therapy (presumably with the trainer's husband).  I am trying not to worry until I find out for sure.... Our dogs are not yet 7 years old...

Edit - Update..... DDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNN IT!!!!!  It was Cobey.  I just got the email response with a picture... DAMN IT.....  Diagnosed 3 weeks ago, 3 days later radical amputation.  I can't help looking at him and thinking of Gracie and I'm bawling my face off.  I f'in hate cancer!  They're looking at $10,000 in costs, so they've set up something with Doberman911.org.  Amanda, I think you donated to that group in honor of someone here and I want to say thank you again, because it really is a great way to help Dobes around the country who are loved and in medical need of care.  God, I just can't stand this...
