honestly, Lori, I only just found out a few mins ago in an email and it's too late in the evening to call his mom right now, but I plan on it this weekend. Her note said he was diagnosed 3.5 weeks ago and "without surgery and chemo, he would not have stood a chance, so we moved quickly. Three days after diagnosis he underwent radical amputation" She says he had his first chemo treatment last Thurs and aside from a little vomitting that night, he's been tolerating it well. Today was his first PT. She doesn't say anything about his prognosis, other than "I pray to God he can beat this."
Amanda, that's so kind of you. Her note said his picture and story should be up "in the next few days". Will let you know when it is. I just feel sick and shocked and angry. My weird wailing has the dogs concerned. There's this extra layer of grief beyond just a friend's dog suffering. He is Gracie's full brother - they share all the same genetics. I have had this awful feeling like I just wanted her to get past 7yrs old, and this diagnosis of her sibling is tearing at that fear. Gracie has fatty tumors that need to be removed and all I can think is "what if they're not just fatty tumors..."
Lori, Gracie's litter had every color - Cobalt was the only blue, two fawn females, Gracie was the only black female, 5 black males, and one each reds (male/female). Eleven puppies in total. Cobey's mom says the red female's owner (she was G's BFF back in the day) is trying to reach all the sibling owners to let them know. Friggin' A..... I am so mad. Cancer sucks.
