What Kind of Dog Has Bitten You?

    My list would consist of:
OLD toy poodle with terrible eyesight (my fault, was taking his food bowl up and he nailed me good). Deep puncture wound with blood inbetween thumb and fore finger and soft pad of thumb.
American Eskimo - fear biter. Tried to remove a muzzle as I was crating him. BAM, he turned and got me. Deep punctures w/blood on hand.
Shih Tzu  with aggression problems - no one has been able to groom her without complete sedation. Her owner handed her to me. I was holding her, talking to owner. All appeared fine, then she launched her teeth into my face. Two punctures, one in upper lip w/tearing and the other on lower lip that nearly went through to the inside. The owner didn't even appologize! I simply handed her back and told her we weren't going to even attempt it [:D]

My most recent bite was from a great dane. I was at his home and he bite me completely out of the blue. Got my entire bicep muscle between his jaws. Three punctures with alot of bleeding. That was 3 1/2 weeks ago and they are still not completely healed.

I will say that ALL of these incidences were MY FAULT! As a rational human, trained in animal care, I should ALWAYS be on top of my game. Being aware of my surroundings and an animals behavior is paramount with anyone that works with animals. 99% of animal bites are attributable to the humans inability to read the animals behavior, unawareness, miscalculations, OR the inconsiderate way that some people act around them. I've never blamed a dog for a bite and I never will (even an aggressive dog).

OH, and I've been bitten by lion cubs (not my fault), they were learning to stalk, [;)]

Only one real bite for me, from our family Samoyed when I was five. She'd just been spayed, and I didn't listen to my mom's advice about letting her sleep. Still high as a kite from the after-surgery drugs, she bit me on my left eye. She scratched the surface of the eyeball, and left a lovely little rip that required stitches. Needless to say, I always obeyed my mom after that. [:)]

I've had 2 dog bites, one from my uncle's black lab, when I was about 7.  He wasn't in his kennel when we got there (which he usually was) and I decided to play with him.  I guess he was happy to see me or something because he knocked me over and was licking me.  I think I scared him by laughing and swinging my arms because he turned and bit me right beside my left eye.
I still carry a scar, but my dad never did take me to the ER or anything, so I'm assuming it wasn't too serious.
The other was by my aunt's Chihuahua.  I was about 12, she was getting up there in years and her hearing was bad.  My aunt sent me over to pick her up, instead of walking in front of her so she could see me I grabbed her from behind.  She turned and snapped.  Just a quick bite down to see what or who had her I guess, she left a small bruise but nothing massive, and I never got up behind her again.

In high school I had a paper route.  One of the ladies on my route was in her front yard with her mini poodle on leash.  She asked me to bring her the paper and as I handed it to her, the poodle jumped up and bit my hand.  Actually hung from my hand until I was able to shake him lose.

    I have been bit by...
Miniture Schnauzer he doesn't like being groomed and bite me in the hand
Miniture Poodle he is old, blind, and deaf he doesn't like his face being shaved. Another hand bite.
Cocker mix she nailed me getting her out of the kennel and got me in the hand.
Pekeniese mix  I was trying to put on the first muzzle and she nailed in the thumb. This is the dog I have to muzzle three times to be able to groom her.
Shih Tzu bit me when I was helping my boss hold him while cutting his nails another bite in the hand.

Cat I just got done grooming him and put him in the kennel just as I sat him down he nailed me in the hand.

I was bitten by an old dachshund when I was young.  I should have had more sense than to try to pet him, as he gave a warning growl.

The Doberman that I am fostering bit me about a week ago.  It broke skin on my arm, but didn't do any real damage.  She's food aggressive & I am insisting that she eat from my hand.  It was going well until I made a quick move.  She bit me, & it again was my fault.  I'm still hand feeding her, & will continue, just a little more carefully.

i've been snapped at by older smaller breeds (pekes and poodles and two chihuahuas) when i was a kid. and just this evening my cousin's little neurotic chihuahua hell hound tried to maul my ankles - she scared the dickens out of my son... meanwhile her bulldog was trying to comfort the screaming two year old.... [8|] didnt really help matters..

i was bitten on the hand by a rottie.... we were playing tug and she missed the toy and chomped on me instead.... i was also in an altercation with a barnyard feral pup. it had a tick under its eye and i thought i would remove it. little did i know JUST how feral this dog was.... we both had each other and both didnt want to let go lol

I was seriously bitten by a golden when I was in kindergarten dog bit of the left half of my upper lip and it was re-attached about 20 stiches (I petted it on the head).
by a family freinds beagle (leaned over to pet it and it jumped up and bit my nose)
and my girlscout leaders GSD mix she was psycho she would come over and sit in my lap then bite me she did that 2 or 3 times I think they made sure she was locked up after that.

I also have to admit being bit by an amazon twice and a rabbit twice and a guinea pig at least twice  all needing some medical attention

Hello, I'm new to the forum.

I've gotten bitten by puddles, and pitbulls.

    1.  2 White German Shepherd Dogs killed our little poodle cross while we were walking him on a leash.

    2.  Same 2 GSDs chased my sister and I onto the roof of a car and she was a little slower.  They bit her butt.  We were about 10 and 8 years old.

    3.  Our St. Bernard snapped at us when we were kids, but didn't actually break the skin.

    4.  An abused cockapoo we took in bit us - often.  Broke skin, but didn't require medical attention.  .

    5.  I was bit by a Pit Bull at a party.  The dog had been friendly all night then suddenly jumped up and bit me in the face.  He must not have been serious about it though because I only had a minor puncture and bruising.  The guy who owned him took him out of the party immediately.

I have gotten much better at reading body language in dogs and have since avoided being bitten despite my family's involvement in animal rescue and rescuing and rehabbing many problem animals and "biters".

I've never been bitten by a dog.

DH was bitten by a chow when he was 12, the dog had escaped from the neighbors fence and DH was trying to help catch it. He grabbed it by the collar and it bit him on the hand, requiring stitches. DH also owned Collie, well, his family did when he was a kid, that bit a lady on a bike and ended up being put down.

My son was bitten by the neighbors Beagle, broke the skin, but was not serious. I wasn't there, but the neighbor said he and her daughter were bugging the dog while it slept.

My dog Frosty was attacked and bitten while I was walking him on a leash by a black mixed breed dog that got away from his owner. I thought I was going to be bitten trying to protect my dog, but I was not.

    edited to include above post:
The latest count is: Chihuahua'a and GSD's in the lead also mixes none of which were PB mixes and many were GSD mixes. A ban has been recomended for Emu's even though they are guilty of only 1 known attack on a human which may or may have not been provoked, we will have to ask the Houndlove to elaborate on that. I for one am crossing the street for the next Chihuahua I see coming and suggest that all owners of Chihuahua's promptly go out and purchase a muzzle (sorry just kidding). And hide your Emu's as Houndlove is out to ban them all muzzled or not!

When I was 13, our English Springer Spaniel bit me on the face.  He was sleeping at the top of the stairs when I came running up on all fours and I suppose I startled him.  He grabbed my nose and shook - broke my nose and left lacerations that required stitches.  I still have a scar.  My parents ended up putting the dog down, because it had always been somewhat aggressive/unpredictable and the vet said it was a possibly that he had rage syndrome, which is something you have to watch for with this breed.

When I was 19 I was hanging out in my backyard, goofing around with some friends, sort of play wrestling.  My next door neighbor had a Lab/GSD (maybe some rottweiler in there too) that he let run loose.  I was friendly with this dog and often played with him.  But a friend had me pinned on the ground and I was yelling and laughing and the dog came up and just started to attack me.  It was so shocking and scary that I've blocked most of it out.  I ended up with horrible bruises all over my abdomen and butt (apparently I turned over sometime during the attack).  I also had a few very deep puncture wounds.  I really liked the dog so I didn't report it, but I probably should have.

Oh and I'm new here, so hi :)

I was bit by my grandparents Chi when I was 3.  That dog HATED children and I bumped into her chair.  I was bit by a Malamute/Chow trying to break up a fight, I guess that was my fault!  And last, I got bit by a Doberman for walking across it's yard.  I knew the dog well but I guess she was having a bad day!  Other animal bites, you name it and I have most likely been bit by it!!!!

Achiuahah when I was 5 ish. I was sitting petting my aunts pitbull (I was on the stairs, the chi came up and just grabbed me by the face. Oh and the mean killer pitbull? He ran away from the chi and I as fast as he could lmao what a protector he was haha. broken skin

I have been bit numerous times by my old neighboors 2 american eskimo dogs. broken skin

attacked by a farm dog (It was a mix of some sort of aussie, maybe some pointer too.) it was my fault I knew it was guarding the barn, but i wanted to go see th horses so I walked over top of him. He lunged on me and hanged on to my leg. my friends dad had to come out and literally beat him away with a broom (my frind and her amily shared the property wih another family, it was the other familys dog)
    broken skin

A pomeranian was lose in a school field I was walking through with a friend. it was crazy, I actually think it had rabies as it was foaming at the mouth. We hid out in a baseball diamond that had gates. this thing literally digging under, it did snag us with teeth but no broken skin.

non reqired medical attention. The dog pound did look for the crazy dog and looked at me hand where it mouthed me but I didnt need attention for that one either (the pom)
