What Kind of Dog Has Bitten You?

Just one bite by a dachshund here... I might have been... 8?  I think I approached too fast... but the whole incedent is fuzzy.  It did put a nasty hole in my finger though.

I've been bitten by a Lab and a G.S. mix. Those were when I was younger.

My daughter has been bitten by a bulldog and my son by a rottweiller. Neither one serious enough to go to the hospital, my brother owned the bulldog and a neighbor the rottweiller.
My dad was attacked by a pit bull last year, luckily he had a golf club in his hand and got back into our yard and slammed the gate in the dogs face. I have never seen a dog attack like that.
When I was a kid, pitbulls and rotts were not popular, I probably never  even saw one until about 15 years ago.

I've been bitten by a Golden (to this day I still don't know what I did to bother the dog - I was about 5 and was a little shocked at the time), and a Chihuahua (I was young and the dog didn't like kids at all, eventhough I was just sitting by him) in the past.

Most recently though, I was bitten a couple times by a Toller (Dec. 2005). We had adopted him from Calgary Animal Services, who'd said he'd been temperament tested and what not. We brought him home and he lunged at everybody without warning and unprovoked constantly. We had taken him to different trainers and behaviourists and he made no progress. We took him back to where he came from, told them the problem, they apologized and said they'd re-test him as the last person who'd done so wasn't as experience as this other person. He was PTS later on that week. That was a terrible experience, and I wish there was something more that could have been done to help him.

When i was a child i was walking home and a GSD came out of the house (open gate) barked, bit me and then went back inside!  only small puncture marks on my hand but oh so not impressed [:(]

    no hard feelings though!

    well... let's see here.

when I was little, my grandpas cocker out of the blue attacked me, sent me to the ER for stiches... the dog and I used to be best friends, he just snapped...
I've been dragged to the ground by a golden that was not happy I would not allow him to hump my leg... so he dragged me down by the arm biting me... that hurt.
Been bitten by a duck tolling retriever
    some sort of shepherd mix
    a border collie mix
    a cattle dog/boxer mix
    a few chihuahuas
    a lhasa apso
and by my own dog, a corgi mix.
that's all I can remember for now. only one sent me to the hospital, my family forced me to go (the cocker bite) but that's not saying I shouldn't have gone for a few others....

the worst dog bite was from a GSD mix at my former workplace. She'd been fine on one table, then when we had to lift her again she grabbed my jaw and either grazed my neck with her teeth or claws, it's hard to say..i would assume teeth, as although it was very quick, her feet weren't off the grount.  Because it was at work, i had to go to the doctor, but it was just a deep puncture and bruising, and I had to have a tetanus shot.  All healed fine, though there's a very tiny scar if one wants to poke around.

I've been snapped at and grazed by various breeds, big and small (I'm a vet tech, it happens), but none have broken the skin since that one.

I have been bitten by three dogs.  The first was a rottweiller that was owned by my aunt and uncle.  I had gone over to their house when i was about 9 or 10, and i followed my cousin inside the door, they had dark brown carpeting, and she walked past the stairs landing that went upstairs, then as i walked past Zeus (the dog, whose name fit him perfectly) lunged from the landing and jumped straight on me, it bit my arms mostly,  the problem with that dog, was it would listen to no one in the house except my uncle (because he was taking him to training classes) and he had to be called in from the garage to call the dog off me.

I was bitten by my lab/sheperd/collie dog when i was little, it was my fault 100% though, the dog retreated under the bed, and i decided i was going to crawl under the bed with him...he didn't appreciate that lol.  Not only did I get bit in the forehead, but I also got yelled at by my mother.  I think I was about 6 or 7?

And I got bit by a bassett hound we got from the shelter, I was about 8 years old and she was upstairs and down the hallway which was a straight shot down the stairs, through the dining room then living room.  I was in the living room, and she ran all the way down the hall and straight for me and attacked me.  Wouldn't get off me, my mother hit her with a broom until she finally let go.  We had to give her away after that.

After being bitten by those dogs, I would have to say I am hesitant around rottweillers only.

When I was little I was bitten by a shitzu when I was delivering a May Day basket to my neighbor.  I believe it drew blood.   It just ran up and started biting me on the calf.

The only other bite I know of was a little girl I used to sit for.  The family black lab bit her in the face.  I think it was resource guarding at the time and she got in his face.

I have never been bitten by one of my own dogs, and I probably deserved one from my Golden, Lady, when I was little.  I used to crawl all over that dog.  She was the most tolerant dog I've ever met.

    1. Cockapoo (required 8 stitches)  I woke her up and startled her.  Not her fault at all.

    2. Cocker Spaniels (been bitten by 3 or 4 of them.)

    3.  Rottweiler:  Food aggressive and gave me a warning bite.

    4.  Pharaoh Hound (3 occasions) first one Xerxes was injured and I grabbed him-he sliced my nose open out of reflex.  2 & 3rd times:  Gaia was getting snippy with another dog and I grabbed her collar-several non-puncturing bites.

    5.  Assorted play bites when the dogs are wrestling in between my legs.  Never had skin broken.

    1 Boxer
    2 Cocker Spaniels
1 Polish Lowland Sheepdog (my own fault for that one)
    1 Labrador

While never bitten by a dog as a child I did have two memorable animal bites: an emu at the zoo (back when you could get right up next to cages and stick your fingers through!) and a lizard in California. I definately think we should ban emus. I am so not a fan!

As a child I was bitten in the face by a German Shepherd, bitten on the head by an Alaskan Malamute like over a dozen times-my mom said that was how she said hello [8|], and bit in the last couple months by my dads Pug X.

As a child (around 4), I was bitten by our family dog. I do not recall what he was, some kind of small terrier or mini-schnauzer. It was both my and my parents' fault; I went to pick up his bowl before he was done eating. He had never bitten before and never bit after. I still have a small scar on the side of my mouth. The bite was not reported and we kept the dog.

One of my parents' GSD bit one of their friends on the butt as he was entering their property (they were there, had welcomed him in, the dog had not seemed to greet him aggresively or anxiously). There was puncture thru his jeans. That same dog mouthed one of my friends' hand; no puncture, just a bruise. None of the incidents were reported. We kept the dog - just were more careful when we had male visitors. He never bit anybody else and I have the best memories of him; a sweet, loving, willing to please, steady dog.

I got bitten about 4 years ago by a loose Chow while I was walking Spip. The dog was with his owners in the front yard, no leash. We were walking on the opposite sidewalk; he ran at us, crossing the street to attack Spip going directly for her throat. I got bitten on the hand as I was trying both to protect Spip and not to have her back out of her collar. I did not report the bite.

Bit as a child twice in the face by a bulldog and again on the face by a dalmatian

A "trained guard dog" which is why they were allowed to have that size dog in the apartments.  GSD, went for the face, got the shoulder.  ER visit, sutures, plastic surgery, still have the scars.

DH got in the way of a fight between two COCKER SPANIELS.  ER visit, a dozen or so sutures, major antibiotics, severe scar on his hand.

Same said cocker tried to start a fight with Thor (90 lb gsd) and he was obeying until she lunged at him (with me in between the two) and when I reached out to restrain her from Thor, he bit at her and got me.  Two fractured fingers, treated by the VET so he wouldn't have a record.

Not a pittie amongst the bites.
