What Kind of Dog Has Bitten You?

    1. I was bitten as a small child by a hound (coon hound) that I tried to hug while he was eating. (Doctor visit, no stitches)
    2. a ShiztZu bit my son in the lip, owner told him it was ok to pet and he bent over to pet and was bitten in the lip (ER visit no stitches)
    3. I was bitten by a Chihuahua in the nose. I was sitting on the couch and my sister in laws Chihuahua lept up and bit my nose (self given medical attention)
    4. Son was bitten by a dachshund at the park. Large family picnic and he was walking to the food table and one of the family#%92s dachshunds bit him in the calf. (ER visit no stitches)
    5. I was bitten by a "pack" of Jack Russell terriers, this did not result in injury as I was wearing high riding boots at the time, but a couple of them latched on hard and I literally drug them across the yard attached to my boots. (No medical treatment)

I used to deliver a local newspaper and was on my bike doing my route when this huge black lab hopped a fence and chased me and managed to knock me off my bike. He bit me on my leg and I still have the scar.
A few years ago I was visiting a boyfriend's home and his parent's little terrior attacked me totally out of the blue. I had just walked in and that dog immediately jumped on me and tore a nice hole through my thumb.
    I think that's it...lol

I've been bitten by two shelties.  I deserved both of them, I can say with full confidence.  One was a warning bite from Nikki when I was younger and stupid and kept pestering her.  Didn't draw blood.  The other was from Trey and it did draw blood.  Neither were serious.

The only dogs I have been bitten by were all small enough to fit inside a microwave...Not that I would put them in a mirowave. hehe
    Chihuahuas, Doxies, Shi-tzus

I was bitten by a mini poodle when I was around four.  It just scratched the skin, no ER, only a bandaid.  It was my fault, I didn't listen to my parents.  But after that I did.

I've never been bit but my nephew was bit by a Great Dane last year which unfortunately was put down becasue of it. My uncle was bit by a golden retriever when he was a child.

At work I see dog bites all the time, but the ones that get to me are really bad so I'm not sure about the not so bad ones. They ones I see are almost always pitbull/lab/rottie/large mix of some sort. I have never, not even once seen a small/medium size dog bite probably becasue they aren't able to cause as much damage as their bigger cousins.

I've only been bitten by Cherokee, and only when trying to break up or prevent dog fights. No misdirected aggression even, I literally just got in the way of her open mouth both times. You'd think I'd have learned after the first time. [8D]

The first was maybe 7 years ago, and wasn't bad, just a little cut on a finger. In fact, I'm not even positive it was her, could have been my aunt's husky.

The second time was like 6 months ago, and I pretty much (accidently) shoved my finger in her mouth, and she chomped down. THAT hurt. I almost passed out. But it healed up nicely, no stitches or anything, I can't even find the scar anymore.

Excluding mouthing, play biting, being nippy, etc....

    1. I was bit in the face by my uncle's German Shepherd when I was three.  He was sleeping and I got down in his face and startled him.  I had punctures above and below the eye.  It was not a big deal for anyone and I don't even remember it.

    2. I was bit by my friend's yellow lab when I was in 5th grade.  I was waiting for her in her living room and the dog approached me and snapped me.  I think they had lots of problems with that dog and ended up putting it down.

    3. I was bit repeatedly and shaken by a large lab mix.  He bit my shoulder, ribs, all over my arm, my legs, hands, and ankles.  The worst bites were to my upper arm where he bit the hardest and also pulled and shook.  I was wearing several layers of clothing and did not bleed, but he basically tore the inside of my arm apart and there are still tender spots.  That happened in early April 2007.

Of my close relatives, my little sister was bit in the butt by a loose bull dog in our old neighborhood, my brother was bit in the thigh by my mom's cousin's German Shepherd (he approached the dog not knowing it had issues, the dog ripped his pants open and he did bleed), and my mom's cousin's son had part of his scalp ripped off by their neighbor's German Shepherd.  Our friend's German Shorthair Pointer bit a neighbor kid in the face when the kid laid next to her while she was sleeping and then woke her up.  My uncle's first lab bit my cousin twice (she was like 18 months old).  After the second incident, my uncle took his dog for a long walk in the woods and shot and burried him there.  Sucks to have to choose between a baby and your dog.

A GSD that was immediately shot by his owner. I was at a fishing pond, which was owned by the GSD's owner, and that dog began stalking me most of the afternoon. Why my folks didn't tell the owner and why the owner didn't notice is, of course, something for a therapist's couch, but it was stalking and then it attacked. Pushed me to the ground and went after my legs and face. Everyone pulled him off me quickly enough--I think I have one scar on my leg from that incident.

He had never done something like that and the owner immediately shot it. We went to the doctor for aftercare, and to the police. My folks didn't push for anything legal to happen and later my folks told me that perhaps I did something to provoke that attack. I

And now? I think there could be something to that. Certainly. No hard feelings but I am leery of GSDs. Totally irrational, I know.

I feel bad about him being shot, but I understand that he realized it was a liability for him, too.  Still--could have been prevented.

a chihuahua when I was about 7 - he bit all of us kids that dared walk or ride our bike past their house [&:]
and by a Jack russell that also had a well known habit of biting when he felt he wasn't getting enough attention.
I was chased once by a gsd guard dog that had gotten loose from the stockyard it guarded.  it was very frightening as I was on my 16 mile bike ride home while at college.  I was able to escape it but it did put some teeth marks on my bike [:o]

I was bitten twice by a Standard Poodle.  I was in 5th grade (I think) & probably did something the dog didn't like.  It did puncture my skin but I healed up just fine.

I was also bitten by a hateful little dog I was house sitting a few years ago.  She finally realized I was okay when I cleaned up the caked poo from her butt so she could potty successfully.  No wonder she was hateful.  Poor thing.

I was bitten by a Chihuahua on the ankle (ankle-biter) as I was walking past their house and he came out and attacked. Broke the skin and bled a bit, but nothing serious.

And a GSD (not mine) mouthed my hand a bit roughly trying to get me to let him in the house. Didn't break the skin.

I used to deliver a local newspaper as well. While I was delivering to one house, the owner came out to take the paper and her toy poodle zipped out of the door and bit me in the leg, then ran back in. Left a nasty purple welt on my leg for weeks
