Prayers for my Bugsy please - it was not cancer

Just happened by here and was startled by this headline - want you to know you and Bugsy have copious good thoughts and vibes from me.

Thank you again everyone. It was hard to drop him off and I really did feel a bit bad telling him he was going for a walk with the tech :(

vet just called and he is just going into surgery now, they are going to use an IV because his creatinine level was just above normal- it always is (he is on raw & high protein diet and BUN is always low normal), so although I know that it added to my worry when they say kidney damage is irreversible. Um yea I know that. Ok off to while the time away

well he is out of surgery.  It was very deep and nearly attached to the bone.  The vet said he took out as much as he felt was necessary, HOWEVER, if the margins aren't clear he will have to have another surgery at the vet school because they will have to take some of the hip bone.

My boy was already wakening from the surgery when he called

Although he was surmising the vet thought it was fibrous tissue - we have more than a week to find out exactly and about the margins

The vet said the type of tissue it was in was not good but we can't be sure

Thank you again all - your vibes and support are very helpful

Karen, I know the week-long wait will be tortuous, so will continue to send positive vibes for all of you.  Give him some gentle rubs from me.  I have a soft spot for BBDs.

Dang -- not what we hoped but I'm glad he did well.  And it was good of the vet to call you.

That "not clear margins" thing is what we'll focus on and thing good thots on.

I'd hoped you'd get more positive news and agree that this wait will be hard. However, you will have Bugsy back home soon and you can spend your time focusing on helping him heal from this surgery. I know he's going to be one happy guy to get back home and you're going to be thrilled to have him back.

Someone posted this on the caringbridge site for the Johnson family and I just love it -

"When you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to drop off into the darkness of the unknown, Faith is knowing one of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly."  ~Unknown~

Fingers crossed that his margins will be clear.  In the meantime, as Callie said, you might find that putting him on a cancer diet will make you feel better, if nothing else.  Hope he's not too sore tonight.

Just picked him up, three layers of sutures :(. Vet said he had hoped it would come out like a grape.......it did not

Owie !   Fingers crossed that margins are clear.  You all will feel better just having him home.

Be a good boy Bugs and try to stay calm.
