Prayers for my Bugsy please - it was not cancer

Well the lump sure seems to be growing larger - not wider just taller, and may be more defined.  I just spoke to the vet and he thinks it might be a mast cell tumor.  We will keep him on Benadryl through Monday and if it is the same or worse we will have it removed on Tuesday.

I've been hanging on all day - DH is a disaster - but I thought the fact it was getting more pronounced was good so when the vet said he was worried because that is how a mast cell tumor reacts it just really broke my spirit. I'll be calm again soon but so hard to see him being his silly self and think of what this might be.

Just saw your post on FB and wondered where the new concern came from. Now I understand. I hope that the benadryl and a couple days makes the swelling go down. I know how worried you must be....:(

Good thoughts being sent Karen, that is is something easily dealt with and won't trouble you guys in any major way.

Karen -- I know exactly what size the "hot rock" is that's in your stomach.  Went thru this with Muffin the Intrepid.

Anything with the "C" word in it is scarey and upsetting to the max.  But if it *is*, that *IS* the best type to have to be honest.  It's the most treatable by far.

Today I know you just feel like crap -- but please do be encouraged.  And I-Dog good thots and prayers ARE the best ever -- and you got em!!  *Hugs*

Embarrassed - yeah, even after going back and editting my post, I still messed up. I was thinking....oh nevermind. It's hard to tell from the picture but is it almost where the thigh muscle is that is swollen?

Keeping you, your husband and Bugsy in my thoughts and prayers.  I look forward to positive updates.  Sending calm to you and heal to Bugs.

We have a dog in our play group that has had three mast cell tumors removed, and the span between the first and last has been several years.  He's still going strong, playing, and generally living a good life, despite having an odd patch of long hair on one leg because of a skin graft that had to be taken from his belly.  So, yes, it is usually "curable" if the surgeon gets good margins.
