Prayers for my Bugsy please - it was not cancer

Sending lots of positive energy, prayers and good thoughts for a successful removal tomorrow. ((((((Karen, Mr. Karen, Bugsy)))))

Lots and lots of hugs to you and DH. I could not look at Flem without crying before we got the results and was also getting a game plan together in case things were not so good.

Plenty of good thoughts for the surgery tomorrow. Whatever it is you got to it very very quickly which is good. Don't forget to take care of yourself also.

Karen - you're living the thing we all fear the most - the words looming over you, waiting for an answer, feeling powerless to change anything.  I hope the answers come swiftly along with actionable solutions that give you some power back to make things ok for Bugsy.  We're surrounding you and him in white light of prayers and healthful healing.  ((hugs)) to you, Mr. Bugsy, and Bugsy himself.

    Karen-

A number of years ago, our then 10 year old cocker Sam developed a lump over his shoulder seemingly overnight, which was aspirated and found to be spindle cell cancer, a soft tissue sarcoma.  The lump was removed, along with a considerable amount of surrounding tissue to get clean margins. The surgery went very smoothly and he was home the next day, none the worse for the wear, and the vet was optimistic about his long-term prognosis.  The only hitch was that a few days later, he needed to return to the clinic to have fluid drained from the incision area and then wore a pressure dressing for a few more days to keep the fluid from refilling.  In time, his fur grew back and the lost tissue re-grew.  For a few months post-surgery, I gave Sam Essiac tea and fed him a cancer diet (with lots of salmon),  I don't know if this helped, but his cancer never did return.

Although any cancer is a very scary and worrisome diagnosis, the chances of recovery for this type are good, especially if caught early like you did for Bugsy. You, DH and Bugsy are in our thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and complete cure.

I've been really busy today and haven't had time to make it to the computer until now, but I've been thinking about you all day. (((hugs))) and super duper good luck tomorrow.

From experience, the one thing about a 'cancer diet' is it is something you can *do* -- any kind of cancer makes you feel so incredibly powerless and helpless, and every time I shoved a mouthful of food in his bowl I at least felt like *I* was doing something ... something positive ... something rather than "nothing".  I don't sit and "worry" well -- my thoughts have been with you all day cos there's just nothing worse than that mind-numbing worry.

Holler if I can help in any way and I will just continue praying and thinking good thots and *strong* thots.  (((hugs)))

Paige expressed everything perfectly; I echo what she said 100%.  I'll be thinking of all of you tomorrow and sending the most positive vibes possible from Oregon.  I so understand the emotional roller coaster you're on (including the feeling of crying yourself into a calmer place sometimes).  Take care.

Karen, I've been reading about this diagnosis since you mentioned it earlier.  And, everything I've come across also mentions with this particular type of surgery they need to take more tissue to ensure clean margins.  If I'm understand this right, it sort of can branch out like tenticles.

I know you are so worried.  Bugs is going to kick its ***!!

Good luck tomorrow.  Willow and I will be thinking of you all.

Thank you ladies - he's likely in surgery now.  Got up super early and got in a walk - doG forbid he didn't get one in LOL  He loves doing to the vet (or surgeon) despite all he's been through but last Friday they had to have three people hold him down on his back for one of the xrays.  He didn't like that - so now when they want him to go to the back room he is like a mule.  I told the tech to say they were going for a walk and he looked at me like really?  Um yea bud, so off he went all excited and wagging Crying

I was a mess all night and had a major cry after dropping him off but feel OK at the moment.  They'll call when he wakes up and then to pick him up which is likely not until after 5 tonight.  He is going to be VERY hungry and very happy to get out of a crate.

I told them to make sure they get clean margins

    All the support really helps

((HUGS))  Thinking of you, DH & Bugs still.  Sending good vibes to the surgeon to assure steady hands & the ability to get clear margins.

Have you thought about stuffing one of Bugsy's food toys with his meal and freezing it?  Knowing what a chow hound Caleb is, I did that whenhe was neutered so he couldn't inhale his food when he got home.  It also helped elevate some of the boredom from having to be crated/kept quiet.

I'll have you all on my heart and in my prayers today Karen. I'm betting it was very hard to drop him off today but also a relief to get the show on the road and find out what exactly you're dealing with and what the next steps are.
