I'll bet he is glad to be at home with you.  He will get lots of loving and hugs.  Give him a kiss and big huggers from Ava and me.  He will be in our prayers.

Awww Bugsy!  Big strong vibes coming your way from me!

I know how you're feeling Karen.  It was roughly this time last year i got Tessy's lymphoma diagnosis.  Also, the same week I got SADIE'S IMHA diagnosis!!!  Let's just say it really packed a knockout punch to the gut.

To be honest...the week i had to wait for the biopsy results was the worse.  My nerves were shot.  The one thing i wish i woulda done earlier while waiting was to start proper diets and supplements.  It may not be a cure but boy does it ever slow things down!!!  Cancer can't grow if you don't feed it right!

Read read read...the more i understood things the easier the stress was for me!!  If you want a place with a wealth of knowledge/support then check out the Yahoo Canine Cancer group.

Add me to hte list of people giving gentle kisses and hugs to Bugsy!

Calming vibes for you and DH!

I'm so glad he's back home and I know you are too.

How big of an area did they take? I'm sure he's going to be sore but I'll bet you'll have your hands full trying to keep him quiet too.

Thanks for the suggestions Johnny. He is already on grain free fish based diet and some homemade/raw so I'll read more but I think the diet is ok. Lol yes the chore will be keeping him inactive/ leash walks only for two weeks. He's groggy at the moment but even so dragged the tech from the back room to me and ran up the ramp to the car, that's my boy! Plus on the way home he was looking out the back window like usual. His zest for life is what so contradicts him being so I'll

That "not clear margins" thing is what we'll focus on and thing good thots on.

Absolutely; and idog vibes are powerful!!!  I'm so sorry it wasn't better news, but glad that he did well through the surgery and is home again. Jessie sends kisses.

Most of the "cancer diets" don't just have low carbs -- they add high-antioxidant veggies to help the body fight the cancer.  I've also got a list of supplements and herbs that Dr. Clemmons up at UF recommends (his diets are nothing to 'write home about' but the list of supplements is superb)

More gentle kissies from me for the Bugsaboo.

Kisses and ear rubs for the Bugsy boy and hugs for Karen and Mr. Karen from Sinbad and me. We are continuing our prayers, positive energy and good thoughts. Bugsy, you have to take it a bit easy big guy--I know it's hard but you can do it! More hugs! (And, I'm so glad you have the vet school right there if you need it.)

    • Gold Top Dog

Thinking of you tonight, Karen, and hoping that all 3 of you can get a good night's sleep now that Bugsy is home and in your care, where he can be showered with love and affection.  I'm sure you're all exhausted from what was a very stressful and upsetting day.  If I'd gone through the 24-48 hours you've gone through, I'd be dehydrated from all the crying I'd have done.

I'm sorry that the vet didn't have entirely positive news and that you have to wait so long for more definitive answers.  I'm glad you have the support of people here and in your "real life" -- may all the prayers and good thoughts and vibes help you feel as strong as possible each day.  Sending big hugs to you and some gentle ear rubs for Bugsy.

I am happy Beastie is back home and hope ya'll can rest tonight because tomorrow he will be ready to go as if nobody took a piece of his bum away.

Bugsy has cleared the first hurdle; the surgery went fine and he is clearly in good spirits. He does no know he is sick and until those results come back, he truly is not. The vet feels he's gotten all that needed to be taken out; that's good. The mass was nearly attached to the bone but it was not; that's good. It did not come encapsulated and the tissue it came looked fibrous to the naked eye; that's not so good but it still does not mean anything definitve. This surgery might be the end of the story, it might be all that's needed. It was a very important thing to have done and it is done, well done and in a very short time window; that's good.

You have a good vet, good other resources with the vet school. Bugsy is in the prime of his life and in fine overall health. . Those are all positive factors.

It's been a rough ride and the waiting for the results will be rough also. It puts your stomach in knots and your brain in overdrive but nothing is said and done. I hope the grading, staging and margins all give favorable results. I am keeping your household in my thoughts.

    • Gold Top Dog

Good thoughts continuing for the best possible results on those margins and also warm, healing thoughts for Bugs in general and for his boo-boo.

I was just checking up on Bugs in more detail than what I could get from work.  I'm glad hes home now and I hope hes not in too much pain.

Karen, I always tell Willow shes going for a walk with the techs!  They walk down the hall, right??? LOL!!  What usually makes me get upset is when she turns around and looks to see if I'm coming with them :(

We will be praying for a good pathology report.

You are all so amazing - thank you.

He remains completely exhausted but he did eat breakfast and although he hasn't had a drink of water I've been sneaking bits of water in here and there.  He peed last night and just a bit ago so things are moving through fine.

The wound is weeping some but then again he hasn't been too still.  DH is going to stay home today and hopefully B will just sleep the day away - especially since we are in that massive heat wave.  I've got him upstairs where it won't be as hot.

Neither he nor I slept much last night - he was fitful - I think due to pain - and I was aware that he was moving around the room and I wound up listening to him, catching him trying to get to the wound site a few times. I got up with him a bit after 5, went downstairs and he went straight to his bed and I laid near him on the floor and he went right to sleep.  Poor guy, he isn't a cuddler but he wanted someone near him.

So that is that - we have anti-biotics and rimadyl for 10-14 days and then he'll get the staples out.

Eating some dinner an hour or so after coming home

enjoying the creature comforts of home and a good rest

Monday morning after swimming over a thousand yards doing retrieves

    Frow da toy mom

    got it!

    coming............

and because snow seems nice on a super hot day - run just because you can

    • Gold Top Dog

Awww, I hope you both get some needed rest today.  Bugsy, be a good boy and get  all better soon!

Karen -- you aren't as old as I am, but there was a song by Melanie back in the late 60's "Look What They Done" ... and it was supposed to be about her 'song' but these are Bugsy's words:

"Look what they DONE to mah butt, Mom ...

Look what they DONE to mah butt ...

Well zoomin's the one big thing I can do all right ... and it's a little sore, right now, Mom ...

Look what they  DONE to mah butt ...."

(Sorry Melanie, I really butchered that one!)

At least that's what popped into my head when I saw his owie.
