Just wanted to offer a bit of an update. She is stable and still heavily sedated. The Trach is in; she has tubes on each side of her chest helping to keep the lungs inflated. They are going to want to remove the feeding tube from the nose and place tubes directly into the stomach instead. She has been accepted into a long term acute care facility and will probably be moved there tomorrow.

They continue to try weaning her off the breathing machine...but she can never get past about 30 minutes before her vitals start skyrocketing.

Continued good thoughts and prayers for your SIL. I can't imagine being that ill and not knowing if I'd ever get better. Sad

I have a bit of good news to report: The pneumonia has cleared up. The bacterial blood infection has cleared up. They weaned her off of the ventilator for 8 HOURS yesterday. Her lungs worked on their own for 8 HOURS!!! Then they put her back on to give her lungs a rest. She opened her eyes, looked around and blinked in response to her daughters request. Big Smile
