MIL is dying, or maybe not

When I spoke to hospice the nurse said that MIL was sitting in her chair eating pancakes.  I told her that the guys would be there late afternoon and she "thought" MIL would still be there.  That part I didn't share with Todd.

Glenda, I don't mean this to be morbid, but when my son's dad was dying, his other children had to come from southern Ohio and West Virginia.  The daughters arrived on a Thursday and Friday.  By Sunday, hospice said he was close to dying - and to get his oldest son up here ASAP.  Son drove through about 12 or 13 hours and got here on Monday night.  Dad passed away about 18 hours later.  I truly believe he "waited" for all his kids to get here.  He was in and out of lucidity at that point, but he did have time to talk to each of them before he passed.  And the crazy part was that several others were at the house the day he died, but he didn't die until everyone was gone and he was surrounded only by his five children.

I suppose my point is that your MIL may surprise everyone and at least hang on for her son and grandson.  ((((Hugs)))

I suspect that's the case.  I talked to hospice again and my SS was with MIL and she was enjoying his visit.....the nurse also told me she perked right up about DH and DS being due in sometime late this afternoon.  By now, they are probably about an hour and a half out......

However, when I asked if MIL had seen her priest, the nurse did not say that it didn't seem necessary......I can SEE the church she attends, but I couldn't recall the name of it.  Hoping SS will know, or at the least, run over and find out......I mentioned it to DH and he said that was on top of his mental list....to call her priest, so hopefully that will already be taken care of when they arrive.

The panic attacks have subsided, but gosh, the "hot flash" feelings are still going strong!  And I "changed" more than 8 years ago........anyone got a cure for THAT?

My men have arrived safely and after spending some time with MIL are off for something to eat.  She is tired tonight, so the staff wanted her to rest, and the two guys needed a real meal without a dashboard in front of them.  They'll be going back shortly tho.

I'm sorry I got to this so late.  I'm glad they had a safe trip down.  Wishing a "safe trip" for your MIL, too.... and peace and acceptance for your DH.  Keeping all of you in my thoughts.

    I updated in MC.

You guys can't know how wonderful you are all being.  I'm the rock for everyone.  This forum is the ONLY place I can really come for support instead of being the one giving it.

    Thank you all for that.

It seems like maybe she's turned a corner.  DH said she was perky as heck all day yesterday, very upbeat and very positive.  This is the woman who doesn't see the glass as half empty, but rather smashed on the floor broken!

Am anxious to talk to him today and see how she's doing.....may even call her and chat with her if he thinks she's up to it.

From one "rock" to another, we love you.... that's also why I love this wonderful place too.   I can unload here or cry here and still manage to stay strong at home.

You and your loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers.

Holly cow.  They are actually talking about moving her back to skilled nursing, in preparation for Assisted Living.

Oldest son seems to have a hidden talent.  He was called when MY mom was supposed to be dying and she's still going strong.  Now MIL????

Stranger things have happened, but I do hope that they aren't being overly optimistic and cruising for a fall.  But the doctor and social worker are the ones talking about moving her out of hospice......

Unbelievable!!  They have approved her release from Hospice and she'll be going back to the skilled nursing facility she likes until she's ready for assisted living there.  UN freaking real!

Monday she was 2 days to 2 weeks from death and now???????

Whatever you guys are doing, keep doing it please!
