DPU it was your information that was most helpful as I was looking for someone who had used the collar and could give me the details on what they thought about it. Thank you for posting!
You know, I do not have any problem with learning something new, I am always looking to learn more on how to best work with my dogs, but it is true that sometimes the manner in which the suggestions come make the suggestions themselves difficult to swallow. No one wants to be made out to be stupid, or inhumane, nor do people like hearing that their method is bad and they need to change to yours because it is better. I think people "brag" about their dogs because the assumption in the threads is because they do not operate within the complete LIGHT that their dogs are deficient.
The other problem is the LIGHT is the only way and other methods are tossed out completley which when applied to all dogs and all people across the board is unbalanced. Dog training is not and should not be a religion. It is okay to talk about your religion as if it is the only way and people MUST comply with the doctrine of the religion, but it is not okay for dog training.
At times I even get disgusted with the word "positive" (and I consider myself to be very positive in my training methods) just becaise it is the first word thrown out in virtually every thread. Someone asks for help, obedience classes are recomended and half a dozen posts pop in about making sure it is positive training, as if everyone else were advocating negative training.
These are assumptions that everyone is aware of, and it is obvious that both sides assume something not written but implied. Not sure if we will ever solve this. Written communication is all we have and that makes it more difficult to talk about a topic with passion and yet not offend someone. I do think the word definitions have helped a little.
