Kirkland (costco) dog food question

could you elaborate on caloric density a little further please?  i assume you mean i'll be feeding more of the cheaper stuff?

You could end up feeding more of the cheaper stuff. You'll need to find the number of kcals in a cup of the Kirkland food. Innova has 557 kcal/cup.

I just got back from out of town; I'll post the caloric information a bit later =)

My old gal gsd no longer with me  ..Did great with kirkland food..I would give her chicken and rice...Then the next time I would buy it she would  get the Lamb and rice...It's a good food.. I had no problems with it...I tried it with my new gal...and it just dont agree with her...she throws it up as soon as she eats it...Depends on the dog...But it's a great price...This Gal I have now likes the expensive food..Go figure..*l*.

Okay here we are a week in and so far...

*feeding less per dog for the same amount of weight holding on that dog.
(was feeding up to 2c per dog this I can do 1-1/2 c.)
*poops firm, small and infrequent (as head poop scooper I can be sure about this one haha!)
*hounds find it palatable (doesn't mean too much since they've been known to eat poop! haha)
*VERY happy with the way the hounds look on it so far! we're still in the bloom stage so 2 more weeks should tell the tale.

I've fed Kirkland regular chicken and rice to fosters before and also bought it for MIL to get her away from Pedigree. All five of the dogs I've tried it with did fine.

Max was on the Kirkland for a long time and it worked great for him.  The only reason I switched him to the EP Holistic was because I thought it was a better food and might help with the non-stop shedding.  It didn't.  The difference in price isn't an issue ($17 for 40 lbs. Kirkland, $45 for 33 lbs. EP)  only because he doesn't eat very much, so a bag lasts a pretty long time ... plus, Costco is about 35/40 miles away and the feed store where I buy the EP is only 8 miles.

does anyone see a problem with mixing innova with kirkland to try and stretch out a bag?  i do love innova, but it's killing me.  my husband wants to go off of it because he thinks the price is unreasonabole.

i can't find kirkland food on the costco website, even though i know they carry it.  what's up with that?????  also, could someone post a link to a website with nutritional info here?  try as i may, i can only come up with discussion boards.  i want to read more about it before i try to justify a membership to costco.

i  remember that now.  what i was hoping for was a link to their website, though.

I've searched and searched and I don't think you will find anything other than what was already posted.

I know we expect everything to be online, but this is one thing I don't think is.  It's kind of a "generic" so no one really cares about posting the info on costco's site, etc.

Good luck.  You can always go into costco and look around without buying a membership, thats what we did.

Good luck.  You can always go into costco and look around without buying a membership, thats what we did.

You can also go shopping with a friend who has a membership if you'd like to try the product first. The friend will have to do the purchasing.  Here, a membership is about $50 a year for two.
